Sonic & Shadow ‘Super Situation Figure’ Showcased at WonderFes 2023, Pre-Orders Start Summer 2023

Japanese anime figure company S-FIRE has revealed an updated prototype of its upcoming Sonic Adventure 2-inspired Sonic and Shadow statue. First announced at the Wonder Festival Japan expo in 2022, the model manufacturer has showcased the latest version of the product at the same convention over the weekend. Pre-orders for the statue will start in Summer 2023.

As you can see from the high-res images S-FIRE posted today, the “Super Situation Figure: Sonic & Shadow” statue is looking much more vibrant and intense since we last saw it a year ago. Sonic franchise creative director, Kazuyuki Hoshino, revealed that some alterations were even made since the figure’s last appearance, based on fan feedback:

  • Shadow’s mouth has been moved to the front side
  • The rings now have a shiny effect on them
  • Sonic’s SOAP shoes have been completely redesigned, referring more closely to the shoes that feature in the Sonic Frontiers DLC last year

SEGA Japan’s official Sonic Twitter channel was present at the Wonder Festival Japan 2023 and shared some photos of the statue on display. You can check them out below, or by clicking the link to their Twitter post.

First4Figures Teases PVC Sonic Adventure Statue, Coming 2023

It’s that time of year again! Pop culture statue manufacturer First4Figures has teased a brand new Sonic the Hedgehog product due for release in 2023. But, unlike previous ‘diorama’ and standard character releases, this latest statue goes a little retro in offering a PVC rendition of the classic Sonic Adventure cover art pose.

TSS REVIEW: First4Figures Tornado Exclusive Edition Diorama

Now… the last time I wrote about a First4Figures statue in detail was back in 2013, and it wasn’t exactly a happy experience, my statue along with several others had a number of problems, mysterious black marks, badly manufactured joints to name but a few. This, combined with problems with a number of previous statues finally broke the camels back. So I cancelled all my outstanding orders for statues with them, since then I have not bought another F4F product, that rule was in place for me until I saw evidence that they were taking their quality control seriously.

And oh boy, how they have gone above my expectations. Continue reading TSS REVIEW: First4Figures Tornado Exclusive Edition Diorama

First4Figures Scraps Sonic 25th Anniversary Statue in Favour of a “Better Idea”

Now scrapped

Okay so this came out of nowhere!

After asking for fan suggestions for the 25th anniversary statue and even asking fans to vote and shape the development of it, First4Figures might have just cancelled/scrapped the idea completely in favour of one created internally.

first4figures25thstatue2

In a post made on the First4Figures collectors page, First4Figures said that following internet talks the statue design has been scrapped in favour of ‘a better idea.’

Have to say, on a personal level this is quite disappointing since ironically it was my idea which got the original green light, but also because the initial idea was received so well and unlike previous statues there was a lot of input from the fans on this one who helped shape and voted on design choices such as the colour, decorations, base and even suggestions for the exclusive version.

Now they haven’t said that there won’t be a 25th Anniversary statue, but that following talks today the one which has been in development and had input from fans since as far back as June/August 2015 will not be the one which gets released.

We’ll keep you up to date with more information as and when we get it.

Funko Shows off New Sonic Vinyl Figures

Back in June last year, we were able to reveal that the statue/figure maker Funko would be releasing a series of Sonic figures based on their ‘POP’ range. Since then there hasn’t been much word on the figures. However, that changed today when Funko showed off their Sonic range at the NY Toy Fair today.

The Secret of Wacky Workbench

wwzsecret2

Wacky Workbench might be one of the more annoying, if not incredibly unique, stages of the Genesis-era Sonics, but it has reasons to keep coming back. For me, it is the catchy music (both soundtracks, mind you), but now, it’s this secret that I found in a video yesterday. I revisited the ol’ bouncin’ factory to find this secret room for myself.

Basically, all you have to do is use the level select code (up, down, down, left, right, A/Space) and go to either the past or bad future of Wacky Workbench. Then, make your way to the bottom path immediately to find a hidden room within the wall of a quarter pipe.

The room in the past has an angel statue. If you jump onto her, she spouts out an endless supply of rings. In the bad future, there’s an AWESOME Robotnik statue that you can blow up. However, once you do so, spike bombs will plummet from the ceiling and make you go “ouch.” If you’ve discovered this secret already, good for you. I haven’t, so deal.
