Sonic X Mega Man: Jun Senoue On His Contribution To Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Soundtrack

Mega Man 4 Medley by Senoue to Feature In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

As the launch of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate draws closer, Nintendo continue to tease the new and exciting features included in the game – and today’s blog post on the Official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate site is delectably Sonic AND Mega Man-themed!

Sonic Team sound director and Crush 40 guitarist Jun Senoue has been revealed to have created a Mega Man 4 Medley for the game, following on from the reveal of Tomoya Ohtani (sound director for Sonic Forces and Sonic Colors) has created his own rendition of a track from Splatoon for the title.

You can check out a sneak preview of the track over on the Official Super Smash Bros. Ultimate music page.

Will the theme of collaboration in SSBU mean a Sonic the Hedgehog cover from another prolific composer in the video game music industry? Stay tuned to TSS for news as it comes!

Archie Mega Man Comic Being Put on Hiatus

Yet another round of bad news for Archie comic fans.

Usually this site doesn’t cover Mega Man outside of the crossover shenanigans, but this piece of news is pretty urgent for anyone who follows the blue bomber. Earlier today, comicbook.com released the solicit for September’s issue of Mega Man, Mega Man #53. On top of that, they stated that this arc would Archie would be ending the series in November’s Mega Man #55. Below is the solicit for September’s issue;

MEGA MAN #53
The BLUE BOMBER is BACK from the events of “Worlds Unite” and is ready to fight for justice! That’s all well and good, if there was actually someone to fight! In “Blue Shift,” peace has finally come to Mega Man’s life—but is that a bad thing? Could it be possible that our super fighting robot has come to actually love the battles he was once so opposed to? Meanwhile, Dr. Wily plots something sinister from the shadows, reaching an even newer low for the mad doctor! It’s an extended curtain call as we come to the end of the Mega Man series! Featuring cover art from Jason Piperberg and a BOT UNDER FIRE variant from superstar Thomas Pitilli!
Script: Ian Flynn
Art: Ryan Jampole, Gary Martin, John Workman and Elaina Unger
CVR A Reg: Jason Piperberg
CVR B Variant: Thomas Pitilli
On Sale Date: 9/16
32-page, full color comic
$3.99 U.S

Archie’s Twitter later clarified the news as being a hiatus, not a full on cancellation;

Either way, this isn’t exactly great for those who follow the Mega Man comic. At least there’s still a continuation on the cards, so watch this space to see if Mega Man returns to take on more of Dr Wily’s nefarious plans.

Oxford and Flynn Team Up for Sonic Lost World First Play Charity Marathon

lostworldcharitypromo

David Oxford, writer for Nintendo Force magazine, and Ian Flynn, writer for Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic Universe, and Mega Man series, are teaming up for a start-to-finish blind playthrough of SEGA’s upcoming Sonic Lost World to raise some money for charity!

Hosted by Nyteworks, the pair seek to raise $1000-1500 (but you know what they say: the more, the merrier!) over the course of 24 hours for the Sick Kids Foundation, the fundraising branch of the Toronto-based The Hospital for Sick Children. You can pester Flynn with various questions concerning the comics, participate in raffles to win prizes via known sponsors Nintendo Force and UDON Entertainment (publisher of The History of Sonic the Hedgehog), and even request games to be played should they finish their Lost Hex romp early!

HOWEVER! While the mission in itself is noble, they won’t be able to accomplish their goal without the proper equipment.

lostworldcharityequipmentfundraiser

The Sonic Lost World First Play Charity Marathon needs a bit of a boost of up to $750 for quality tools, so Oxford and Flynn are turning to crowdfunding via Indiegogo in order to make the charity event a reality. Perks of contributing include shout-outs and promotions of almost anything (so long as it is within reason), so for the charity and the equipment fundraiser of the charity…

Please think of the sick children.

That’s right, I’m guilt-tripping you. Is it working? Yes? Good!

The Q&A For The Archie Sonic/Megaman at Comic Con 2013

Get your headphones on boys and girls, cuz this one’s a bit hard to hear otherwise. Alex and I were in attendance at the Sonic/Megaman panel at the San Diego Comic Con Sunday and managed to get footage of the Q&A portion of the panel using Alex’s super nice HD video camera (somebody turn me into a sammich ‘cuz I’m jelly of that thing). There were tons of fans in attendance including some awesome cosplayers including an awesome Eggman and Sally. If anyone can hear this well enough to transcribe it, I’d gladly add it in later.

The Sonic/Mega Man Q&A Panel From San Diego Comic Con

Here’s the Q&A session from the Sonic/Mega Man panel that took place just over a week ago at Comic Con International. Artists Jon Gray and Evan Stanley were there along with Editor Paul Kaminski and Archie president Mike Perrilto among others. Mike and Paul are still arguing on whether Rotor Sucks or not, but everyone shows their love for the freedom fighting clam, Bivalve. I’ll be showing photos from the panel in a later update and my interview with Archie Editor Paul Kaminski will also be up later this week. The audio kinda echos through the room, so I’d recommend some headphones so you can hear what they are saying. Enjoy!
