This is usually the part where I give you some long winded thingy-ma-bob about Operation Grandslam, and what it really is.
But I’m not.
… Instead I’m going to point you to this page instead ;D
The forums has been hacked. Who ever hacked it caused the message, “Death to Sonic Stadium” to appear instead of the forums. I’ve searched the forum’s source code and have so far found nothing that could explain the message showing up. I can’t promiss when the forums will be back up because I don’t know how the hacker caused the message to show up. In the mean time, use the chat room to converse with your fellow Sonic the Hedgehog fans. It just makes me sick that some would would do this on the eve of this site’s birthday…
Update by Omega13a
It was going to be one day, running into several days. However you look at it, TSS’ third birthday is too packed in one day to have you do all the things on show during the one afternoon that you can do after getting back from school, college or work.
Which is why TSS’ third Birthday bash is now going to span the whole weekend. It was going to anyway, but we are going to space our activites out into time slots that are best for you.
First off, FRIDAY:
SATURDAY:
SUNDAY:
After this party, Dreadknux will be rocking the mic on a regular basis on Sega Sonic Radio: LiVECAST! TSS’ Third Birthday marks the birth of “Dreadknux’s Sonic Hour!”, and it will be at least a fornightly radio show, so make sure you tune in if you like Dread’s eccentricity ๐
So, is that a weekend or what?
The Sonic Stadium has this morning reached it’s 200,000th visit count!!!! ^_______^ This is a tremendous birthday present in itself for TSS from you, the Sonic fan. We thank you for coming to TSS as your #1 Resource in Sonic the Hedgehog, and Friday marks a new dawn, a whole new beginning, for Sonic sites in general!
LOVE SONIC? LOVE THE SONIC STADIUM!!!
Right, after putting it off for Operation Grandslam and the new look, I’m finally getting round to spending more time on renovating the Video Games section at long last. Sonic Adventure has been re-opened at long last, and for good reason. Take a look at the two pictures below:
They are fantastic, aren’t they? Pachuka of Sonic CulT offered these to TSS to report on first-dibs, so thanks to Pach for that. The first image was actually discovered by Solly of Dream Avenue however, and is original concept art for Sonic Adventure – presumably the only artwork for Tikal, and this didn’t even get released. The second image is the same, only coloured and cleaned up by KojiChao, a fabulous Sonic artist who usually regulars Sonic CulT.
You can view these and all the other Sonic Adventure artwork here:
A general rule of thumb for those new to the site – General Sonic artwork goes in the Media Channel’s Artwork section (such as the bulk of the Sonic Jam artwork). Actual Game Promotional artwork will be in the section of the relevant video game, in the Video Games section – it’s the same for all related thing for the games, excepting Music downloads and movies. So remember that, the VG section is much bigger than you think. Pay more of a visit there sometime. ๐
Well, after all that, the Sonic Adventure section represents what the other VG sections will look like pretty soon once they’re all up to speed too – if you have anything regarding concept art, or other information and game media similar besides, be sure to contact TSS about it. ^_^ Oh, and look out for a completely refurbished Cellphone Games section… coming soon… ๐
This is it, I’m off to Uni in two days. Tomorrow I’ll be packing my PC up, and sorting stuff out. But fear not, as I’ve said before I have the other TSS staff workers working vigilantly on the site to make it cool while I’m gone.
Before I go, I’ve added YET another section from the grave. This was on TSS ages ago, but I’ve changed it about a bit, merged the extra info from SSNG and such and renamed it “The History of Sonic”. Because that’s what it’ll be – a regularly updated section on Sonic game releases, events and pictures to boot. Make sure you check out that Sonic Advance GBA Ad in there – MAGICAL! ๐
Be cool, and, for the last time in a while, STAY ICE ๐
New Encyclopedia Section
TSS #IRC Chat Room
The Sonic Site Awards 2003
First off, after trying to get the hang of mySQL, the new encyclopedia is finished. Not complete yet though, so we’re constantly adding new entries to the database. Go and see for yourself. ๐
Second, we added a new IRC Chat Room the other week. After a period of dead space, it seems that visitors are noticing and getting interested in the chat, which is great news! Make sure you log in and idle in there – just keep the window open while on the internet – that makes the place more lively.
Finally, the Sonic Site Awards 2003 has been overwhelming this far! The closing date for votes for PHASE II is the 29TH SEPTEMBER 2003! So make sure you make that final push for your favourite site or person for these last few days! Every vote counts! I’ll be taking a short break while I’m going to University on the 30th September, so Sonic_Hedgehogs will be taking the reigns from me for a short while. Don’t worry, your favourite Sonic source will return back to normality soon – I just need a break x_x 3 years on a site can do you in. Also, I need to get accustomed to Uni life without a site blocking the way ๐ Have fun, and I’ll see ya soon!
I’ve had a wake-up call this morning. Another website has decided to blatantly rip off my website in order to feed their own lack of imagination. You know what I say to that? Sod off! But no more ๐ These dumbarse webmasters are gonna be BLACKLISTED in the new TSS Copycats section. See a website that is blatantly copying TSS in one way or another? Tell Dreadknux with a link that works, and you’ll get an award! Who can say no to that? Let’s wash away all those copycat websites – TSS is the original #1!
Also, on another note, I got interviewed by new website The Sonic Shrine ^_^ It was very fun indeed. To read the inteview, Click Here. It’ll be added to Interviews section soon enough. ๐
Finally, I’ve managed to get a new chat room for the site, after the original AIM Chat was constantly being abused. Find the link in the header (look for ‘Chat’ :P) to get there ^_^
Those wanting the latest in SAGE can head to the new look Sonic Fan Games Club! We’ve moved all stories of SAGE from the last day or so to the Fan Games Club – we’ve renovated that section just for you, and that has also been themed to the purple SAGE look – enjoy while you can!
http://www.sonicstadium.org/fanclub/games/index.php
IT’S OUR COVERAGE NOW!!!
Boo! ^_^ Frightened by the temporary new theme? Don’t be – SAGE is an event for Fan Games and Fan Games alone which runs for two weeks – and The Sonic Stadium is back to exclusively covering the event again! Yeah, you know it! As far as coverage will go, Click Here to find out how exactly we will cover the event, and our insight to the open day. You can chat about SAGE in the Message Boards also, by Clicking Here.
Also: If you like what you see at The Sonic Stadium, then PLEASE VOTE for us in the Toplists links – it doesn’t take a minute, and every vote counts! This will help support TSS further – thank you ๐
Sonic Books Section re-opened
Music Zone: Sonic Adventure OST & SA2 Multi-Dimensional added
Fleetway Comics Zone: Issue #3 & Issue #4 added
If you haven’t noticed, TSS had recently changed two of their linked Topsite lists, as the old ones are now redundant and are never updated. Within just a few days we are already climbing the lists like no other site, so to prove that support for your favourite Sonic site will get you everywhere, we’ve done a mondo update for you! ^_^ Click the links above. You’ll also be pleased to hear that Operation Grandslam is getting more exciting by the day, and an announcement about it will be made soon. FINALLY, let’s welcome new members to the TSS Staff – Fuzzbuzz and FZ Sambo. Fuzzbuzz will be helping to code Grandslam and Sambo is the new Sonic Cartoons maintainer. Enjoy the update, guys ๐
I am currently renovating the current form mailer submission setup so the other staffers can use it as well… in addition to finishing up php-izing everyone else’s archives, getting my crap for college straightened out, and getting my site done…
Soooo…. I am officially closing fanart submission until further notice. However, everyone that has recently submitted WILL get their art up as soon as php-izing the other artist pages is done.
Thanks for your patience [and the Kevlar(TM) vests]
Update by Biafra
Fleetway Comics Section Expansion
After the popular hit of the new Music Zone, many of you were wondering what was next on the TSS hitlist? Well, we can tell you that the Comics Zone has been given an overhaul in the Fleetway department. And that’s not all! We’ve added FULL SCANS of issues 16, 17, 18, 52, 53 and 58! How cool is that!? Enjoy the new – erm, old issues, and stay tuned for more updates in the Comics Zone…
You are going to love us. ๐ People have been saying that our collection of Japanese/European Sonic CD MP3s are so good, that we had to follow it through. Therefore, the Music Zone is the next section to be given a facelift – along with a TON of downloadable CD Soundtracks and game music to boot! You’ll love it I’m sure ^_^ Have fun. Tell us what you think in the Comments.
Right, here’s a treat for you – I finally managed how to do the layout for the Video Games pages, so now all Sonic Mega Drive/Mega CD/32X games and Nintendo GameCube games are available to view as normal. The other games will be added later – I’m tired, see, and about to participate in an archery contest in the middle of my mum’s birthday party – don’t ask ๐
No update today guys, but very good news all the same!
I got my A Level results back yesterday – I got a B, two C’s and a D!
๐ That means I’ve fully earned my place at University. I’ll be moving over during the end of September/beginning of October, and I’ll be studying Computer Games and Internet Technology. ^_^ It should be really exciting learning how to program and design computer games for real! That’s all – Expect an update tomorrow, if the man upstairs be even more generous.
A site called TBBZ recently had a major awards ceremony. The Sonic Stadium cleaned up the event, winning 4 awards! Thanks guys! Speaking of which, it’s made me revamp the TSS History section, PHP-style. You’ll be able to see the awards we’ve won, the many different layouts we have had, and the TSS Timeline (written by myself) has been updated by a month. I’ll try and get it up to date soon.
Also, we have got buttons at the bottom of the navigation bar on each page. If you like what you see on the site, please click these buttons and vote for TSS. Clicking all four links doesn’t take 2 minutes, and they all open in new windows. This is so that we know the amount of support we got for future events and features we can add to the site. Thanks a lot for your vote! ^_^
^_^ The Main Page has been remodeled slightly, and the Updates section modified. As has Sonic News. There are also some headlines for you to check out every time you visit.
Yes, Sonic News is still here, but in a cleaner form!ย You’ll notice that most of Sonic News has changed. This is the new, improved version of Sonic News, for we have, like The Sonic Stadium, gone PHP stylee.
What does this mean to you? Well, for a start you’ll be able to get your news fix much quicker and faster than ever before (and considering how fast Sonic News is in the first place…), as well as cool extras such as being able to add your own comments and thoughts on the many Sonic and Sonic Team headlines passing through here.
You can also let a friend know about any of the articles we have, just by clicking on ‘Send to Friend’ and filling in the details.ย The news prior to this month (August) has been removed temporarily – now that archives will be added automatically, it seems fitting for us to archive the news headlines that we had to manually update.
Soon the ‘Articles’ section in the MEDIA Channel will be moved to Sonic News too, where it will belong most – for it’s great move, you can submit any editorial articles that you have written – be it your theories on the Sonic Universe, a thought about the Online Community, or just general Sonic theory-ness.
This has been around a while, but this is to those that do not know. Fans United for SatAM (FUS) has information that a Sonic Underground DVD will be released.
BUY IT. Even if you hate the series, BUY IT.
Why?
Because if you buy the DVD, DiC will most likely be allowed the rights to release a planned SatAM BOX SET, and maybe even a movie, if the rumour mill is to be believed. The people stopping DiC from doing so is Disney and Buena Vista, so the only way to get to these corporate airheads is to buy, buy buy.
You know it makes sense. Click the banner at the bottom of the main page for more information.
I thought I’d just give an announcement to anyone that maybe is interested in building a tutorial with me on fan games – all you would need is a knowledge of a program that builds games…
Hopefuly sticking the whole thing in a cool flash tutorial thing for people to use on the site or download, full credit will be given to the person involved. If you’re interested give me a shout here.
On another note there’s been some minor adjustments in the fan game area. If you ever want to get hold of me I broadcast on mRadio, where Sega Sonic Radio is also played be sure to catch me.
Update by Fastfeet
1/2 Site Map Added
SEGA SONIC RADIO RETURNS
New TSS Guestbook!
For those that do not know, Operation Grandslam is a term that was used by me to describe the changes going on at TSS and the Message Board. Believe me when I say that when we’re done in a few months time, you’ll love some of the new interactional features that will only be on TSS! You can keep check of Grandslam’s progress at the top of each page now…
Speaking of the header of each page, you’ll notice it be different. There has now been (well, half) a Site Map added, so none of you can complain that the place is a pigsty and you can’t find nowt – if you still can’t find what you want, get some glasses ๐
And, perhaps the announcement to ‘make you wanna sex in your pants’ (according to Avid Merrian anyways) is the fact that the world’s best loved Sonic Radio Station is back and online! Yes, that’s right… SEGA SONIC RADIO! The radio that became one of the most popular stations in 2001 has returned – we’re trying to get a standard feed ready, but for the time being the server has to be online in order to listen to the Station. But, it’s back and you’ll love it even more now ^^
Final thing (Cor, this has been a long update), the Sonic Site Awards is cutting short it’s Phase 1 deadline by a month. That means that Phase 1 will end on the 31st July instead of the end of August. That is all. Enjoy SSR!
Billy Hatcher Preview Added
Saxman Interview #2
Billy Hatcher’s Game page is up, and S_H has managed to interview Saxman of the Sonic Hacking Community for a second time. ^_^ Check them out – tell us what you think in the Comments section too.
Update Also, many Games pages are down. This is because we’re working on making the rest of them PHP-ised. From the top, games up until Sonic Spinball (MD) can be viewed, as can Sonic DX, Pinball Party, Sonic Heroes and Billy Hatcher. We will try to make this change as quick as possible. Thanks for your patience. ๐
What, the addition of this funky feature wasn’t enough? Well, if you’re a member of the SSMB, head over for a gift given to all members for a limited time, along with some other gifts kindly handed out by Pachuka of Sonic CulT. Also got the Sonic Cartoons section PHP-ised, many of the pages will be remade to look snazzier, but for now they’ve just been converted. And, a minute Sonic X section has been made – find it at http://www.sonicstadium.org/cartoons/index.php?cid=sonicx. There’s a reason why it’s so small. Because it’s now 3am in good old Blighty, and I need my kip. More tomorrow, hopefully. Chao.
Groovebeans – this is a little tester for our new Updates Board, using a cool thingy called FusionPHP’s Fusion News. Website updates will appear here, and so will website announcements. Soon, a Headline bar with the top 5 news stories will make it just above this bit, making the functionality of the main page complete. Tell us what you think of the system – you can make a comment to any of our future updates, or send this update to a friend using the two links below each update. Enjoy-eth. ๐
Yay. TSS’ definitive review on Sonic DX. Get it in. Oh, and you’ll notice that Sonic DX, Sonic Pinball Party and Sonic Heroes’ information pages are all PHP-ised. Yosh! All a part of the reform, going quite slowly, but we don’t want to hinder your online surfing, so it’s all good. You’ll notice the real changes later on though. ๐ Good day.
It has finally arrived. After the success of 2002 and it’s historic debut in 2001, you’ve all been crying out for a return of everyone’s favourite Sonic ceremony – The Sonic Site Awards! The SSA 2003 has hit TSS and the whole Sonic Community, and now there’s a whole new website in which you can access the event! Head to theย Official Sonic Site Awards Websiteย and find out information on what awards are on offer, the history of the SSA, and of course, your ability to vote! Phase 1 is doing supremely well – submit your own or favourite Sonic sites and efforts to grab a chance of getting into the Phase 2 final polls! Phase 1 closes officially at the end of August, so hurry! As for TSS, expect a review of Sonic Adventure DX and Sonic Pinball Party in a day or two, along with a few little surprises too. ๐ Stay tuned!
Things, they are-a changing for The Sonic Stadium… no, it’s not yet another sodding layout change, God how boring would that be! No, TSS is going to go over a backend makeover, making the transition from HTML to PHP and the like. A taster of the fruits of which can be seen on this page – a nice, neat website for you to enjoy… and much more in the future. We are looking for people who are knowledgeable in the field of:
in order to help us with our backend manouevre. You will be able to take part in something that will be truly exciting, quite a challenge, but should rock the foundations of the Sonic online world for sure. Sounds like a fun challenge? You bet your sweet ass it is. Simply direct your emails (along with proof of previous work done) toย Dreadknuxย when you can.In other news, The Sonic Site Awards 2003 is to start any day now, so keep your eye on this space! And… HAPPY 4TH JULY to all our American Sonic lovers across the Pacific from us lot at TSS!
Sorry about the oddness of the main page for the last few hours – something must have happened to kerfuffle the page ^_^. OK, all my exams are over officially, so things are going to start gearing up again soon – once we get more space on our servers, that is. =D Next week expect a review and more ofย Sonic Pinball Party, a review of the European release ofย Sonic Adventure DX, and the opening of theย Sonic Site Awards 2003ย – the awards ceremony that started it all! To all those submitting hoaxes, fan art and comics, please be patient, as my ‘net access is very limited at this time. Oh, and HAPPY 12th BIRTHDAY to Sonic on the 23rd! Plus, it’ll be my very own 18th birthday on the 30th June – like anyone cared about that =P. Finally, PLEASE support The Sonic Stadium by voting for us via the buttons – you’ll find them on any page at the bottom of the left/right hand navigation menu. See ya soon!
Still working on the User thing, guys, sorry about that. Told ya things may be slow. Just to say two very important things – Sonic_Hedgehogs, owner of Sonic News, has officially returned to The Sonic Stadium to run his section again. Yum! And, even more exciting news… the best Sonic comic in existence has now officially returned – only this time, instead of Fleetway returning like we all hope, a bunch of great STC fans have taken the time to make their own ‘Sonic the Comic’, based on the Fleetway verse. Enjoy…
A hee-uge update for the site, involving the adding on of the rest of the Sonic News stuff.
Updated sections include:
I like to think that the Sega Sonic Message Board is a welcoming place to all members here, that this place is a sanctuary for anyone to speak their mind about anything. Be it Sonic, cheese or…. erm, stuff in general. But, after seeing an event take place on another forum, something made my head whirr. I wanted to get something off my chest.
