Submissions Are Now Open For The 2021 Sonic Hacking Contest

It is that time of the year again. In 2 months, the 2021 Sonic Hacking Contest begins. And if you have been in the process of creating an entry for this year, then you will want to get ready. The SHC 2021 website is open, and you can now send in your submissions.

The changes this year are mainly in regards to streaming and judging. In addition to the usual people streaming the entries every year, Developer Streams are now planned to enable mod and hack creators to showcase their creations the way they want them to showcase them.

Judging, meanwhile, got the biggest overhaul. What was once a small team of judges that evaluated every entry is now composed of a large team of judges dedicated to specific categories, like 3D and 2D PC entries.

A bunch of faces have been brought in to the judging team as well, and the categories of entries they’ll be judging in are the very games they have a lot of technological knowledge of. And, as you can see above, there are now splash screens that entry creators can include in their mods and hacks!

So, when is Contest Week this year? The main event begins on October 11th and concludes on October 17th. This won’t be the last we’ll be covering the Sonic Hacking Contest this year, so stay tuned for more updates when they come in!
