The Sonic Encyclo-speed-ia Gets a Deluxe Edition This November

Now up for pre-order on Amazon, Dark Horse’s compendium of Sonic lore and history gets a fancy upgrade .

While the new version does not explicitly list details, the pre-order page graphic shows off an alternative cover featuring a screenshot collage spanning Sonic’s history, art prints of Sonic and Dr. Eggman, and a slipcase box featuring Sonic holding a ring.

Deluxe Edition

At time of writing, both the deluxe edition and the standard edition are expected to release November 23, 2021, with the deluxe edition valued at $79.99, and the standard edition at $42.49. A Kindle eBook version is also listed, releasing on December 21 and valued at $28.99.

Standard/Kindle Edition

When originally revealed for pre-order, the Sonic Encyclo-speed-ia promised “extensive lore and exhaustive detail of each game in Sonic’s ever-expanding universe.” Written by Archie veteran and IDW mainstay Ian Flynn, the book stands as the first revealed Sonic 30th Anniversary product.

  1. Seems like Amazon had taken down the search listings for the the Deluxe addition, I have it still open as a tab, but I can’t find it through the search bar, or through Ian Flynn and SEGA’s product listings.

  2. I already upgraded my pre-order. Why was it easy compared to the Legend of Zelda items as of late? Is it because Sonic’s not as popular as he used to be, despite it being his 30th Anniversary?
