US toy manufacturer Jakks Pacific has announced a partnership with SEGA and Paramount Pictures to produce official Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Movie merchandise. This is a global toy rights partnership that covers practically everything from “action figures, playsets, vehicles, plush toys, collectibles” to even Halloween costumes.
The new line of merchandise is set to hit store shelves in 2022, to coincide with the release of the Sonic movie sequel in April. Jakks was also responsible for releasing a range of merchandise related to the first Sonic movie in 2020, but we can imagine that this time around, the toy company will be going all-out with the products.
Interestingly, Jakk’s costume division – called ‘Disguise’ – is also included in this deal, with Jakks declaring that it will also be “designing and manufacturing costumes and accessories inspired by characters from Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Disguise is described by Jakks as “a world leader in design and development of inventive and cutting-edge Halloween costumes and accessories”. Can’t wait to see countless Donut Lords wandering around town this year!
