It’s now officially the 24th October (in the UK, that is). That means only one thing. It’s the birthday of this humble little website about a speedy blue hedgehog, innit. We launched all the way back in the year 2000, which makes us 19 YEARS OLD today. I think we need a lie down, we’re getting too old for this.
Today is a little bit special because we’re only one year away from the big 2-0. Which, speaking personally for a moment, is a little difficult to wrap my head around. So please forgive us for indulging ourselves a little bit as we take a bit of stock as to how far we’ve come since the age of The Matrix, Y2K aesthetic, Nintendo Gamecube and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
If you want to celebrate with us, please do send us any words, art, or anything else you have the itch to share. We’ll post the best ones right here on the site! And if you can’t be bothered to do that but still want to offer a nice gesture, feel free to leave a comment below too.
To celebrate, I’ve been spending a few weeks tarting up the SSMB forums so that it has a new coat of paint. We spent a lot of time tweaking the design of TSS to look more modern, but the forums weren’t getting much love for many years. So we’ve brought that look right up to date with a new ‘Sonical’ theme for 2020! And, to make those on the forum who like their Night Mode, I also made a new ‘Sonical Dark’ theme there too! Now, if you’ll excuse us, we’re going to spend some time looking through some of the old archives… ahhh, Dreamcast, what happened to you…

I can’t believe it’s been since what, 2013 for me? I know I’m quiet, but damn does time fly anyway. And it’s crazy that the site existed for so long before me. You guys have done an amazing job
