  1. So yeah, this is basically a compilation based on the Sega Mega Drive and Genesis Classics collection currently on Steam. It sounds like the existing Steam hub will be updated with the new features, but according to the list presented here, the console version is missing five games currently available on the Steam version: Ecco the Dolphin, Ecco Jr., Ecco: The Tides of Time, Eternal Champions, and (most notably) Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

I’d say stick with the collection currently available on Steam, as not only will you (probably) get all the features from this new release, but you’ll get extra games and official mod support.

  2. Already have this for the 360 but knowing me I’ll end up getting this one too, lol. Hopefully the online multiplayer will be more stable on this one.

    1. Not even either-or. Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection at least had both separately, even if I find them trite compared to the entire game.

    2. SEGA needs to remake Sonic 3 & Knuckles, the same way they made Sonic Mania, get Christian Whitehead and Tee Lopes on board to do this up, and compose all-new music to replace the copyright-infringing songs in the soundtrack! Maybe hype it up with a special collector’s edition of the game that has a Knuckles Figure, and a code to download the game.

  3. Wait does this include the Taxman/Stealth versions of Sonic 1 & 2? Because I would totally buy it for those two games alone.

    1. Would be cool, but probably not. When they did 3D Classics on 3DS, they went with the original versions of Sonic 1 and 2, and all they added from the Taxman versions was the ability to use the Spin Dash in Sonic 1.

  4. Why no S3K? That was the only reason I bought the original, because it had all the Genesis Sonics.

  5. I can’t help but notice one particular game missing from the list. Where’s Sonic 3 and Knuckles? Is this because of the issues with the music again?

  6. Oh great, another Megadrive/ Genesis collection.
Can we finally move a generation and get a Saturn/ Dreamcast collection?
Or some unreleased Arcade games? At least throw Knuckles Chaotix in there.
So many rare and hard to get Sega games out there, I find it hard to get excited about the same 50 Genesis games again.

    1. “forgot to include: Sonic 1, 2, CD, 3 and Sonic & Knuckles with add-on with Knuckles in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles XB360 backward compatibility via XBONE plus Street of Rage Collections”

      1. Sonic CD doesn’t count as a Genesis game. It was released for the SEGA CD, not the Genesis and the CD was an add on for the Genesis.

  7. This whole shafting sonic 3 is really getting tiresome, you would think they would have it sorted by now

  8. Will this just be the game reveal at SXSW? I hope not, because, while this is cool, it’ll be a major let down.

  9. Oh wow another Sega classic games collection for current gen consoles? seriously can Sega just stop trying to rely on nostalgia and make focus on new games

  10. Compared to the “Ultimate Collection” on PS3 & 360.
NEW: Alien Solider, Bio-Hazard Battle, Columns III, Crack Down, Galaxy Force II, GunStar Heroes, Landstalker, Light Crusader, Shadow Dancer, Space Harrier II, Sword of Vermilion, The Revenge of Shinobi, ToeJam & Earl in Panic on Funkotron, ToeJam& Earl, Virtua Fighter 2, Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair, Wonder Boy in Monster World

REMOVED: Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles

  11. This is…cool? I’m glad we’re getting this but we’ve already seen most of these titles get re-released several times now. This just doesn’t have any impact as a standalone announcement.

  12. Finally these classics will be coming to PS4..

Do we know, will this be a digital title, on-disc, or both??
