Comic Preview: Sonic Universe #90

Everything will become crystal clear in the finale for the fate of Angel Island!

The preview for Sonic Universe #90 is now available, and you’ll certainly feel this one! Walter Naugus has managed to restore the Master Emerald, get his powers back and leave the heroes in crystal. Worse than that, Angel Island is now beginning to fall, and Knuckles and Amy have mere hours to put it right before the restoration of the planet finishes it off for good!

But while Knuckles’ hard-headed nature can be a cause of conflict with his stubborn attitude, it also means he’s determined, and he’s not going to give up without fighting all the way. With the help of Amy’s support and team Dark’s resilience, they’re not out of the running just yet! This is “Shattered”: part 4.

  1. The way Knuckles and Amy are written.

Instead of calling him a lousy guardian and listing off all the times something bad’s happened to the Master Emerald or using him as her punching bag for laughs, Amy actually goes out of her way cheer him
up through a nice pep talk. This is the type of characterization the games can barely nail at all.

Also at least we know how they got to Westside Island in the first place.

      1. Hehe, you seem to be trying to activate an anti-shipping force shield with that comment, but I fully agree!

  2. AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH!!! <3
this is the kind of content i love to see in comics!!!
this is so awesome!! i'm so happy!! 😀

  3. Now this is the kind of characterization and characters iterations I have been dying to see in the games! Not only that but its also mixed with both light-hearted and dramatic moments in good balance.

I seriously hope the main Sonic games will try to incorporate this kind of tone and writting, the same goes for the movie.

  4. To be fair that’s not right characterization of Amy-Knuckles bond. Since in games(or any other media) they NEVER were geting along in anything.

    1. Both characters are well characterized in this comic though, if this hasn’t happened in games is most likely due the fact that they don’t spend as much time together alone as in this story arc, also they do get along in games, when they disagree or fight is mostly for “laughs”.

      1. Whenever they were getting along in games?
Most of time Amy just bully Knuckles. And that’s about it. It may be played for laughs but that’s their whole inteactions they have in games.
They don’t even care for one another in games.

        1. The ones on the top of my head are Sonic Shuffle, SA2, Sonic Battle and especially Sonic Chronicles but I see your point, there are several games where Amy is despicted as a psychotic fan girl that only likes Sonic and where Knuckles is the dumb muscle who doesn’t seems to like anybody and is just there for comic relief (actually anybody bullies Knuckles in these games), but I give props to Archie for avoiding these bland and sterotypical characterizations in favor of the more complex and charming representations of the better written games.

          1. They were’t really geting along in those games. They were just standing there next to each other. Barely talking to each other. Hell, in SA2 Knuckles was risking everyone’s lifes for M.E.
I’m not saying that Knuckles and Amy should hate each other. But they never really were friends in games. And lack of conflikt between those two(that was always appering in other medias) makes them more bland.

  5. This was a very satisfying conclusion to this arc. It is definitely one of the best single issues of the reboot so far.
