Just like the first two before it, Sega have announced via the Japanese magazine Famitsu that they will release a 3rd retail compilation of the 3D Classics games on 3DS. So far we only know of five games (all of which are already on the eShop) and will only be released in Japan at the moment. See the list of games below.
- Sonic the Hedgehog 2
- After Burner II
- Streets of Rage II
- Super Hang On
- Gunstar Heroes
Now in the last two collections, there were exclusive, never before released 3D Classics. The first only had Out Run 3D and Space Harrier 3D (both originating on the Master System), while the second (which is the west’s Sega 3D Classics Collection), had Maze Walker (MS), Fantasy Zone (MS), Fantasy Zone II: The Tears of Opa-Opa (MS), Power Drift (Arcade), and Puyo Puyo Tsu (Arcade). Puyo Puyo Tsu is the only one of the group to have gotten a standalone eShop release afterward (Japan-only so far).
It’s very likely there are more in the 3rd collection, as evident by the black box covering a chunk of the first page of the article’s preview above.
The game will release on 3DS retail in Japan on December 22nd, 2016.

More Ken Sugimori artwork for Sonic and Tails, I see? 🙂
Another port of Sonic 2. Yeeeeeey, no.
Well it has my favorite sonic game in it so I have to get it
They should just make a game pack containing all of the games from the Sega ultimate portable game player for the 3ds.
