Sega Release A Gorgeous Animation for Sonic’s 24th Birthday

Today marks 24 years since Sonic the Hedgehog was first released, to mark the occasion Sega of Japan posted something very special, roughly translated, a designer at Sonic team was tasked with “drawing Sonic,” Well not only did they draw Sonic, but they also release this rather well done animation of the process.

The animation was posted to Sega of Japan’s official Vine account, unfortunately it was uncredited so we don’t know who we should be thanking directly for this excellent piece of work.

    I think I’m going to play the Genesis trilogy right now. 🙂

    1. Ha, turns out that I did play Sonic 1&2, but I then took a detour of sorts and went hardcore on Sonic CD. I suppose I’ll get to 3&Knuckles about now. 🙂

  11. SEGA if you love your fans next year for the new gen consoles you will release a 25th anniversary collection of as many Sonic games on 2-3 discs all remastered! we deserve it.

    1. YES! This, all of this.
      I worked out a while ago, you could fit every sonic game up until generations onto about 3-4 Wii U discs/blu-ray discs. Given Sonic’s recent loyalty to Nintendo platforms, I could see a sort of Sonic: Anthology releasing on the Wii U. That is, if the people Sega know what to do and aren’t total dicks about it.

      1. Yeah, considering, as we all know by now, all the Megadrive games easily fit on a DVD with more than enough room to spare (Sonic Mega Collection). Obviously, games from the Gamecube/PS2/Xbox era will take up much more space, though so I see where you got 3-4 from.
