This is What ‘Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car’ Plays Like

You might remember back in December we reported on a rather obscure arcade game called Sonic Cosmo Fighter Galaxy Patrol, a game which sees Sonic take on the role of a galactic fighter pilot, there’s something I didn’t think I’d ever type.

(More after the break.)

Well… did you know that there is another equally rare arcade game to star Sonic called “Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car” which was released in 1991? No? Well, don’t worry, it’s very obscure, not much footage of it exists.

However, YouTube user Ehfvanteis managed to track one down and filmed himself playing the game. In what could be the first good clear footage of the game you can see how the game plays as well as clearly hear alternative remix’s of the Green Hill Zone theme and the Sonic 1 boss theme. (Remix? Is that what the kids call it these days?)

There’s even dialogue between Sonic and Eggman, if anyone can translate it could you be a hero and let us know in the comments below?

What do you think? Does it need a PSN/XBLA port?

  1. Haha, quite nice alternative mix of songs there.
It’s funny to actually see these rare games played, and i’m surprised the machine has actually been there all this time!

  2. Yeah, I’ve heard of Waku Waku Sonic Patrol Car. Never played it, but it looks a lot easier than that guy’s making it out to be.

    1. It was pretty hard filming it with an iPhone at the same time, mate! I reckon I could do a better job.

Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed the video. I filmed it an AEON Takamatsu, which is on the West side of Takamatsu City in Kagawa-ken, Shikoku.

  3. What does ‘waku waku’ mean anyway? I’m guessing it’s an onomatopoeia.

And driving down a street backwards, Eggman? You IQ 300 goofball, you!
