SEGA Officially Announces Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games

After this morning’s press release leak by Czech website Zing.cz, SEGA’s officially announced Mario & Sonic at the London 2012 Olympic Games. There’s not much new details, except that the game is said to feature more events than before, including the return of Dream Events and that 20 characters will be appearing.

The English press release also clarifies that the “riding” event mentioned in the Czech press release is an equestrian event, which means the characters will be horseback riding. SEGA’s also opened a new website for the game, but there’s nothing there at the moment, apart from those brief new details we just explained and some new artwork for both Mario and Sonic.

To celebrate this new game, SEGA’s of America’s Kellie says on their blog that Mario & Sonic will be touring London for photos around the city’s biggest landmarks. The photos will be published on Sonic’s official Facebook page as they are taken.

  1. WHOA Loving the pictures of both Heroes 😀

Cool and I hope this will be as good as the previous ones

  2. Now they need to annouce SA2 XBLA and PSN port for relase at 23 of June and its gonna be best year ever

        1. Once again Agreed though I never got the chance to donwload the Adventure port

Oh well I still have Adventure DX On Gaemcube and that can always be played on the Wii 🙂

          1. If they give us 16:9 , 720p resolution and online 2p this gonna be a killer (I mean SA2 port)

  3. I’m hoping this will be better than the first

While the first was good and added a lot of feature some things needed a bit of improving I liked Winter Olympics more than the first for a lot of reasons but they are both good though

Maybe this one could be even better or just as equal

The news we’ve heard may be short but it’s good news so farmore events and they seem to have the same number of characters like Winter Olympics maybe they could add a few more

I don’t mind a third not too excited but we will wait for more info and previews to come up

  4. Hmm… Seems I have a big decision to make. 3DS version or Wii version? They’re forgoing the DS version all together this year. I did like the mini story that they had in the in the Winter Olympics on the DS versi0n. But the Dream Events on the Wii rocked much harder! *drools over the remixes of the sonic music from the game* Oh the choices! Maybe they’ll add more features with streetpass and spotpass to the 3DS version. Maybe even do something AR related.. Hmm.. That’s it!

  5. Why do they continue to milk this series? I really don’t see the point of it. It’s just yet another mini-game collection. Something that the Wii already has far too many of. I enjoyed the first game (largely because the concept of Mario and Sonic competiting with and against each other was still a cool idea), and the second to an extent but they really don’t need to make this. Anyways, I’m still waiting for them to say that Mario and Sonic will share a platformer together. That would be kickass.

    1. They milk it because it sells. After all, that’s the main point of a video game company. To make money.

  7. i’m guessing people aren’t going to trust wentos’s rumors anymore. or at the very least believe half of what he says.

  8. I’ve jsut realised 20 characters?

That’s the same number for the Winter olympics I hope that’s not true I hope they add a few more :\

  9. The thing Im looking forward to is: What new characters will be in it,and will it be better than winter olympic games because so far that’s the best one.

  11. Eh… more Olympic Games games… They usually only get about a week of play or so in my house, so I’m not sure if I’ll bother buying this time…

  12. I have to say, this game is gonna be tournament worthy in some countries(1st of the series is very competitive in Mexico) and with the arrival of Soccer, its gonna get crazy(hope it plays like Mario Strikers and we get 7 members on each team.
@Ryan-love the character requests dude :)…

  13. Daggone it Sega. Let Espio in as an unlockable or something! No more of him staying to the sidelines as a ref. You’re degrading his reputation!

    1. So rue! He is an expert ninja! And Rouge is also shown to be fit. Bark would also make a nice addition, due to his brute strength.

  14. yea ryan request is wat we need instead of 20 characters it should be 50 charcaters and we should get a tournament from everyone to challenge around the world and some levels should be in teams be cool if we can walk around with the character you are and talk to other characters it will be cool if there was a adventure game with ALL mario and sonic characters if they do than i will buy both games 100% and yes this a request that we want so baaad
