A Visual Treat For Your Ears

A Visual Treat For Your Ears

As you’ve probably noticed in the last day or so, I’ve been sneakily adding a few more bits to TSS. Preparing for the ‘big beef up’, if you will. Firstly, I’ve added another new skin to the deck – Two Foxy makes a return to the skin selector. Now all we need is ‘more Tails fans in here’, and we’ll be complete. The Sonic News section has been tweaked too – it looks like a proper archive for news now, instead of the generic blog type theme we had going on. I’ll be doing the same to the other relevant sections too, don’t worry.

Now for the great return of some content. Yesterday I brought back the ‘Screenshots’ section, which can technically be considered a brand new section considering in past years they’ve been compiled within the Game Archive. As a separate section, it will be easier to track images for your favourite games, and when you click on a Screenshot page you’ll notice that it still ties in with the Game Archive in its own little way, linking to information pages and media sections where available.

Today we can welcome back the Music Zone too, which is basically a more decorative way of presenting music downloads via the Media Portal. This section isn’t finished yet, clearly – I’m going to go through it in the next few days and slowly add information pages and tracklists to all the OSTs and game rips we have. At the same time, I’m re-uploading a large chunk of the Media Portal content we actually lost during the recent server wipe (links in the Music Zone lead to files in the Media Portal).

It’s not much to write home about just yet I know, but these are baby steps. I’d rather get stuff public then work on them later than keep it all in limbo for an absolute age. As I add more stuff to the site, you’ll notice this Updates section getting rather more frequently updated too – once every day or so if I can help it.

I’ve also gone through TSS in IE and Windows browsers (I work on a Mac now) to find any irregularities with the site design, and have fixed a few things. I may tackle it more head-on at a later date, as some elements on Windows browsers I’m not altogether happy with (the text is a bit too thin for example, crappy complain I know but I’m my own worst critic when it comes to these things). Generally though it’s pretty sound, which is good news because in the past most of my new designs looked great on Mac browsers but crappy/broken in Windows ones.

Hope you’re liking these regular updates to the backend, I’ll be taking a break for a day or so but will be back at it soon enough. πŸ˜‰

  1. Hooray for Macs! And don’t worry, there are quite a few Tails enthusiasts around here, myself included.

Also, can I shoot a question at you? The login on the left of the site doesn’t work for me, it just sends me to the WordPress version of the site. Are you going to fix it up so that we can stay logged in when we browse around? Maybe I just don’t know how it’s supposed to work… >.<

Also, thanks for uploading Wonderman. I had been looking for that music video!

  2. Yay for me and the other new guys around here!, I havenΒ΄t been around here for much time, but I did took presence in the “Great Wipe of 2009”. This is great!, now i have a chance to download all the Sonic music i want!!. Thanks there Dreadknux, and keep up the good work!

  3. I’m having Dejavu, this should be done much quicker =\… I remember the big beef up of last year and the year before that. I’m not trying to be an ass but sites like Sonicstyle and Soah have had all this stuff up ages ago.

  4. Forget all that ‘Back to Basikz’ crap for Sonic games, this site getting back to basics is all I care about..keep up the great work Dread!

  5. @Jackskellinghog: No offence taken. Although just so you’re aware, the TSS Media Portal has had more content than the two sites you mentioned in the past, and has been around for a good few years. I guess you never noticed it – we just never paraded the downloads as links on the site. We only just lost it all during the recent server wipe. Once we get that back, our media portal will be on top again, don’t worry. πŸ™‚

Also, apologies for how long this has taken, but I’m sure you can understand that life has a habit of getting in the way when you’re not a teenager. πŸ™‚

@Indigo Rush: Could you wing me an email detailing the exact problem and what OS, browser you’re using? The login box seems to work fine for me on all programs I tested.
