Sonic Team is Developing a New Game for Sony’s PlayStation 2

It begins. After a spell of developing games exclusively for Nintendo’s Gamecube, Yuji Naka has reportedly confirmed that Sonic Team is working on a new project for rival Sony console, the PlayStation 2. What could it be?

Of course, with all the rumours flying around that Sonic Team is currently developing the next mainline Sonic the Hedgehog game, the suspicion is that PlayStation 2 will be one of the consoles it will land on. This would add weight to the recent rumour that a ‘Sonic Adventure 3’ is due to be announced at Tokyo Game Show for ‘multiple platforms’.

Of course, Sonic Team also makes games besides Sonic, so it could be something else. We won’t have to wait too long to find out what it is, because Naka-san said that the project will be announced at Tokyo Game Show 2002 later this month.
