Sonic the Hedgehog’s silver screen adventures just keep on winning, as the 2022 Paramount movie sequel ‘Sonic the Hedgehog 2’ took the prize of ‘Favourite Movie’ at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2023.
The live-action movie, which pits Sonic and Tails against Dr. Robotnik and Knuckles, beat out Hollywood rivals such as ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’, ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, ‘Black Adam’, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and others to win the award.
It’s no surprise that the movie won the hearts and minds of kids worldwide, with the movie grossing over $400 million at the box office since its premiere last year. Let’s hope the awards keep on rolling for Paramount and the Sonic movie team!

For those exploring the strange, baffling, but astoundingly popular realm of Roblox, Sonic is (officially) joining the world-building platform in a roundabout way. Nickelodeon and Paramount are currently hosting a special Sonic 2 movie environment and game in the “Nickverse” obby.
As the trailer shows, the event gives participating players a brief running-jumping-bouncing obstacle course full of speed boosts and Sonic 2 movie posters. The activity is introduced by a creepy, dead-eyed model of movie Sonic whose empty gaze pierces your soul and makes you question everything you thought you once believed in.

Nickelodeon had a bit of a brand-takeover during yesterday’s NFL wildcard game between the the Dallas Cowboys and the San Francisco 49ers, with Spongebob, Ninja Turtles, and, of course, Paramount’s Sonic and Tails, appearing periodically to liven the game up in a family-friendly way. And slime. A lot of slime.
While Sonic played a small part in the festivities, the entire thing was off-the-wall nonsense, with Nickelodeon color schemes and CG overlays throughout, including these clips of the Cowboys scoring a touchdown as CG cannons drench the the endzone in green goo, a giant slime monster spawning on the field, or replaying a touchdown but with all the players as Ninja Turtles.
I might actually be inclined to watch sports if I knew that the stadium ground would swell into a gelatinous kaiju.
