Build-a-bear, the online and brick-and-mortar store dedicated to stuffing and dressing quality plush toys has just released its new Sonic the Hedgehog Movie plush line, and… it looks familiar.
While Paramount might have shifted gears just a few months prior to releasing the movie, that’s much harder to do when you’re a licensee making physical products intended to stare into children’s souls from deep within the uncanny valley.
Unsurprisingly, Build-a-Bear’s design seems to be on Sonic’s original movie look, from his non-gloves, to his laced shoes, to his eyes that are just that right combination of dialated and too far apart.
However, if you still have a place in your heart for the little hedgehog that couldn’t, the plush is available online now and in U.S. stores tomorrow. Online bundle options include:
Sonic without shoes for $29.99/£21.50
Sonic with ring and shoes for $46.00/£33.00
Sonic with soundbox and shoes for $45.50/£33.00
Sonic with soundbox, ring, and shoes for $53.00/£38.50
Sonic-print pajamas for animals that don’t have giant back-spikes for $13.00/£10.00
And a Sonic movie logo shirt, also not for bespiked toyfriends for $8.00/£5.50
It’s also possible to get the rings, shoes and soundbox by themselves, as well as the pajamas and t-shirt bundled with with a bear or a dog respectively, on the Build-a-Bear US and UK websites.

The Build A Bear looks like it’s based on the design from the first trailer (like a lot of the other Sonic Movie Merch). Guess they couldn’t change it in time.
Went to get one….shoes and ring out if stock. Gutted
I want that shirt but I don’t want the toys…
