Sonic 4 WiiWare Out Now, First Gameplay Video

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 is now available to Wii owners in the U.S. via the Wii Shop Channel for 1,500 Nintendo Points. This is the first of the console edition releases this week, with the PS3 version out on the PlayStation Network in the U.S. tomorrow and Europe on Wednesday. The Xbox 360 version will also release on Xbox Live in the U.S. and Europe on Wednesday and finally the Wii version will hit Europe on Friday.   4. I could download the Wii version but I’d decided to wait a couple of days for the 360 version. Why 360 owners have to wait the longest?? ;-;

  6. Nah, im getting it for PSN Wednesday when i get home from school.

    @onfan1984 no, Europe wii users have to wait till Friday! and psn Europe Wednesday!

  8. i am allready 100 pounds in dept to my dad after buying a wii for sonic colors and then the preorder 30 pounds and my dad won’t let me get anything else so i can’t get it 🙁

  12. Playing it on Wii right now. Not bad at all. However, I can’t for the life of me figure out that damn torch puzzle at the end of Lost Labyrinth Act 2.

  17. I’ve just been playing for the past hour or so… it’s so much fun! Decided to take a break at Mad Gear Zone Act 3. xD
    That stupid torch thing in Lost Labyrinth took me forever, ohmygosh. It’s actually pretty simple once you figure it out…Like those red barrels! But not that bad, since it’s actually kinda complicated.
    That one puzzle with the water pressure or whatever and the near-invisible spikes drove me up the wall, though.

  19. already downloaded….already destroyed. Can’t wait for episode 2 to come out…and yea…that labyrinth got really annoying….and MGZ 3 got a little difficult too

  22. I bought it as soon as it was released this morning, and right now I’m at the Lost Labyrinth boss. The torch puzzles didn’t give me too much trouble, but this boss is really annoying. *facepalm* Nonetheless, the game is freaking awesome. Better than I could have possibly hoped for!

    I don’t care about 1080p, 480p or 780p…
    I just want to play it!

    If Sonic’s green eyes don’t affect gameplay, neither should graphics/HD graphics….
    (plus my Xbox has no room for ANY game… Arcade fail…)

  29. I’ve noticed from a few videos that the audio on the WiiWare version is of a lot lesser quality from other version in places (I assume to fit it into WiiWare size). It sounds very MIDIish in certain tunes such as the Stage Clear jingle. If you’ve got multiple consoles, you should probably hold out for a HD version.

  30. OMG…. WOULD PEOPLE QUIT MOANING ABOUT HAVING TO WAIT A COUPLE EXTRA FRICKIN DAYS?? …sheesh. some of us are out of the country until May next year… won’t get to play it til then =)

  35. Its so damn awesome!!! I can believe how fantastic the graphics are for a wiiware title (I actually got teary eyed when I saw the graphics lol)! And the controls are great!

    In my opinion, its well worth the 1500 points

  36. the game is great! but the last 2 special stages and the final boss are HUGE pains. overall, i’d give it a 9/10. if you can, download it. now. 😀

  38. haha, I still say the controls are a little stiff and they should of slightly decreased the time Sonic takes to get to full speed

  40. Great game!!! There’s still room for improvement but it does deserve the title of “4”. Now time for me to get a HD tv because when I play I don’t have enough running vision ahead…

  42. This is a great game, but be warned: It’s hard! The main problem, I think, is that at first, you’re expecting the physics to work like Sonic 2’s. THEY DON’T. This isn’t bad, after all, this is Sonic 4, not Sonic 2. But it does take some getting used to. By the way, I made it to the leader boards for the first time ever (gotta do it the first day, because if you wait too long the hackers take over)!

  43. Can’t believe they made us wait until NOON today. But it was so worth it.
    It’s awesome, especially compared to what Sonic Team’s been putting out the past few years.
    The physics aren’t spot on to the originals, but the level design is amazing.
    I’m also impressed at how many times I died or got stuck, especially on act 3 of Casino Street and act 2 of Lost Labyrinth. I’m glad this game was a challenge.
    Also, beware that Lost Labyrinth Act 2 has the new Carnival Night barrel.
    Now, excuse me, I need to go back and get the chaos emeralds…

  45. I just beat the final boss, DAMN he’s hard to beat! lol
    So far today I got 5 of the Emeralds, I’ll try to get the last two tomorrow. This is on hell of a good game, well done sega

  46. Ohmygosh, I think I’ve found that dreaded torch puzzle in Lost Labyrinth that people is havin trouble on. I’m stuck! D=

  47. Yay! I downloaded it and I am liking it. When I started I was blown away at how big sonic is. Also I love the adventure and platforming in the game, rather than repeated ludicrous speed like in the Advance and Rush games.

    What I like:
    *The Homing attack – it works well
    *The Bonus stages – fun and challenging
    *The Bonus stage is on the world map.
    *Running on the cards in Casino street zone – very impressive
    *A lot of starposts – really need them sometimes
    *Badniks aren’t as big of butt holes as they used to be.

    What I don’t like:
    *You can go to any level you want, not in order. – what’s with that?
    *When Sonic frees the animals, he stands to the side and is hidden behind the life counter.
    *Sonic doesn’t open his mouth when he’s hit – that’s just me being nit picky

    Overall, very fun game, it does feel like the old games, especially Sonic 2. I love it.

    Does anyone else feel like the gameplay feels a little stiff, especially when you just start to build up speed, I find it odd how long sonic walks for before he starts running…it feels and looks off to me

    Some of the music on the wii version is lower quality.

  51. Something weird i noticed…
    My Tv is not widescreen but when i select widescreen in my wii menu Sonic 4 is more zoomed out and looks more classic.
    You can also see more of the map…

    Is this actually weird or do i have something wrong?
    Wait, i guess widescreen doesnt always mean hd…
    whatever….

    ANYWAYS
    this might help out some people out there without widescreen tv’s
    go into the wii menu and set your screen to wide, and sonic 4 will show more.

  53. I won’t be downloading the Wii version, sadly 🙁 I already have 1200 Xbox points ready for tonight… yes, I’m not going to be sleeping tonight 🙂 It better be available for download the SECOND the clocks strike TWELVE:AM!!
