We don’t know what they’ll look like, but we know who’s making them.
Today, JAKKS Pacific revealed that they’re partnering with SEGA to produce “action figures, playsets, vehicles, plush, and other collectables” as well as costumes and accessories for the upcoming Sonic Prime Netflix animated series according to BusinessWire.
JAKKS remains a Sonic toy licensee across the many facets of the franchise, covering Classic Sonic, Modern Sonic, the Sonic Boom animated and game series, and 2020’s Paramount movie. While little is known about Sonic Prime’s story and style, we know it will be some manner of multiverse or alternate reality setting, which would fit quite well with JAKKS Pacific’s penchant for small weird sub-lines like legally-distinct-from-the-Olympics sports, or what-if-everyone-was-just-neon?
