The Sonic Movie social media channels have been busy this week. After launching a successful/chaotic Discord server, the Paramount marketing team has heavily hinted the appearance of a trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 within the next couple of days.
On Monday, the ‘SonicMovie’ Twitter account promoted its new Discord server to the world and offered benefits for the first people to join up. The server attracted thousands of fans within minutes, offering Paramount a sizeable focus group with which to market the highly-anticipated Sonic movie sequel.
Today the official movie Twitter account has published a teaser video featuring Dr. Robotnik, along with a suggestion to keep an eye on the channel’s activity over the coming days. Animator Tyson Hesse, who was heavily involved in redesigning the original Sonic model in the first movie, has similarly activated the hype train.
With SEGA attending The Game Awards on Thursday, and there almost definitely being some kind of Sonic announcement at the event, we wonder if the TGAs will also be the venue for a Sonic 2 movie trailer? As soon as it drops, we’ll keep you updated!
Everyone’s getting restless. Especially after they misled them into believing the trailer was coming Thanksgiving Day.
