Emphasis on “Mania.”
Yesterday, Sega released a new trailer to coincide with the launch of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania featuring fully animated segments mixed with gameplay video:
It’s hard to miss, but at the 1:12 mark, Sonic and Tails make a guest appearance in the animation, with Sonic playing the original banana-joystick Super Monkey Ball arcade machine.
The trailer bears more than one connection to its “Mania” partner. The visual style of the animation is very much in line with the intro and trailer animations from Sonic Mania, and if you didn’t recognize, the trailer’s soundtrack is also by the Hyper Potions!
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Mania is currently available on all major platforms, and includes classic style Sonic and Tails as unlockable characters using in-game currency.
Damn. They don’t put 2D Animation in video games like they use to. This scene felt like a real refresher.
