EARLY LOOK: Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit – SAGE 2021

Who all is excited for SAGE this year? We are! And what better way to kick off the weekend with some early details about one of the most anticipated fan-games on the floor! We have exclusive footage of the latest build of Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit’s Sunset Park Zone, and it’s looking mighty fine! Check it out:

Here’s a rundown on what you can expect in the upcoming demo:

  1. Seamless zone transitions that put even Sonic 3 & Knuckles to shame. There’s no abrupt title cards or even a fade-out; the cutscene flows directly into the next level!
  2. The return of Triple Trouble’s spin coasters, as well as some new stage gimmicks: there’s metal cranes to swing on, switches to pull, lifts and elevators to ride, elastic hooks and even exploding bridges!
  3. The stage flows just like a genuine Classic Sonic game would. Good use of speed and platforming reward players with goodies hidden at high places and thoughtful switching between Sonic and Tails is encouraged.
  4. There’s a full-on boss fight against Knuckles, and rad red isn’t messing around this time. He’s packing way more of a punch than he did in Sonic & Knuckles’ Hidden Palace Zone, and he’ll throw charged punches at you, drill drives and even lob bombs in your face! You definitely need to have your wits about you.

This stage will be available in a demo TOMORROW at SAGE, keep your eyes on this website to be the first to give it a go! We’ll be sure to keep you updated on the latest on Sonic Triple Trouble 16-bit; there will be more exclusive first-looks at this impressive fan-game in the future! Please stay tuned!

  1. Between this and the Sonic Chaos 16-bit remake, it’s a good time to be a Game Gear Sonic fan.

Now someone get to work on a remake of Game Gear Sonic 2.

  2. If this is an improvement of Sonic Triple Trouble (set directly after Sonic 3 & Knuckles), why the hell is Knuckles being a jerk to Sonic again.

If the answer is “because he’s stupid enough to be tricked by Eggman”, then this is a blatant stab at his reputation. And quite frankly, I expect better from fans of all people.

Knuckles doesn’t even need to be in this game. The Triple Trouble namesake can be easily filled by Metal Sonic.
