Jim Carrey Wins Award for “Best Villain”

And the award for ‘Best Villain in a Movie’ goes to… Jim Carrey! In the inaugural, “Critic’s Choice Super” awards, (which focuses more on superhero and action movies rather than dramas), Mr. Carrey won the award for his comical portrayal of Dr. Robotnik. He beat out other actors such as Kathrine Langford, Martin Short and J.K. Simmons.

Carrey and Ben Schwartz were also nominated for ‘Best Actor in a Superhero Movie’ for their role in Sonic the Hedgehog, but lost to Ewan McGregor. Sonic the Hedgehog was also nominated for ‘Best Superhero Movie’, but lost to the Netflix film, The Old Guard.

Here’s hoping the sequel gets even more accolades in the 2023 awards!

  1. Good for him. Carrey would honestly not have been any of my choices for a live-action Eggman but his portrayal of the doctor was pretty hilarious.
