Two New Double-Packs Hit Nintendo Switch Today – Mania, Forces, Team Sonic Racing and Super Monkey Ball!

If, for some crazy reason, you don’t already own Sonic Mania, Sonic Forces or Team Sonic Racing on Nintendo Switch, then you’re in for a treat! SEGA is releasing two twin-packs for Nintendo’s console, which will allow you to jump in on all the major Sonic games on the platform at a reduced cost.

We previously reported on these double-packs back in August, when both Amazon and GameFly leaked the existence of these physical re-releases on their webstores. One pack includes Sonic Mania and Team Sonic Racing, while another bundles Sonic Forces with Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD (which comes complete with a Sonic cameo. So, you know, it’s relevant).

According to the press release we got, “Each pack brings together unique gameplay styles. With Team Sonic Racing and Sonic Mania, fans will experience adrenaline-pumping races and speedy side-scrolling gameplay with familiar faces from the Sonic universe. With Sonic Forces and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, players can step into Sonic’s shoes to become a hero in a world ridden with evil and race through stages and challenges with 10 thrilling Party Games as the fastest, most manoeuvrable monkey around.” Quite.

Each twin-pack costs $39.99 at all good online stores. This seems to be a North America-only deal at the moment, but we’ll let you know if this is destined for the UK or anywhere else.

  1. Is there any solid info on what version of Mania is on its respective double pack? It’s not framed as though the Plus DLC is included, but the Amazon listing has a gameplay screenshot (and a duplicate of it right after) of Ray.

I also feel like this more firmly reinforces my frustration of the intro cinematic not having been included for TSR due to alleged cartridge size restrictions as it seems very unlikely that it’d be larger than the 187 mb that Mania takes even with little compression involved.

    1. Hmmm. Unfortunate on Sonic Mania being the Vanilla release. Still a good value overall, though.

Feels like I can’t win since having bought Mania digitally when it seemed as though it wouldn’t get a physical release closer to launch.

      Thanks for sharing!
