Sonic the Hedgehog “Encyclo-Speed-Ia” To Release for 30th Anniversary

A Sonic the Hedgehog “bible” containing a history of Sonic lore is due for release in June 2021!

The extensive book, totalling 256 pages and authored by Archie and IDW story mastermind Ian Flynn and published by Dark Horse, promises a compendium of Sonic the hedgehog history, unseen to date.

The Amazon listing for the book states:

Ian Flynn, also known by his Internet brand, the BumbleKing, is an American comic writer. He is currently the head writer for the IDW Publishing Sonic the Hedgehog comic series.

Flynn was previously the chief writer for the Archie Comics’ Sonic the Hedgehog comic series and its various spin-offs. His tenure began in 2006 with Sonic the Hedgehog #160, and lasted until the comics’ cancellation in 2017. He has also written a couple of episodes for the second season of Sonic Boom, and a number of stories for the Sonic the Hedgehog video game series and its spin-offs.

    I hope it will be based on the Japanese storylines of the games…

  2. When it says each installment it better mean EVERY GAME i.e not glossing over Knuckles Chaotix, Tails Sky patrol etc.
    And better get a U.K release.

  4. I hope it will actually detail EVERY game, and not gloss over titles like Sonic Chronicles, Knuckles Chaotix, etc. I’m curious to see what Ian Flynn’s involvement in it is- will the comic lore be covered?

  5. I can’t wait for Sonics’ s 30th anniversary in 2021, that’s going to be AWESOME! I’m a “big” fan of Sonic the hedgehog. I can’t believe there’s going to be a encyclo-speed-ia about Sonic the hedgehog. The book is going to be AWESOME! Also I can’t wait to get Sonic the hedgehog book.

  6. I was going to say that the book should cover every single Sonic game but I see that I was already beaten to it.

  8. Now SEGA, after trashing the lore for over a decade, suddenly “cares” ? And lets that overrated hack handle it ? Sure, because Angel Island, Chaos, the Chaos Emeralds and ME, GUN and the Ark totally fit with Wisps, Lost Hex, Zeti or “alternate dimensions”….

  9. Can’t wait for the book to list that every single level is on its own planet, and one world theorists will freak out. Only for Sonic Team to immediately retcon everything the very next game.

    This is better than the Snydercut.
