Get Ready For Sonic Game Speedruns At Summer Games Done Quick 2020 Online

It will be online-only for this year, but Summer Games Done Quick 2020 Online is almost upon us. With just a month ago until the speed-running charity marathon event begins, the schedule of games was unveiled recently. And yes, the schedule includes a block of Sonic games.

Although the event begins on August 16th, the Sonic block doesn’t occur until the 19th, when the event is halfway done. It’ll be 4pm, late in the afternoon if you’re on the east coast of the US. In the UK, it’ll be at 9pm, well past sunset. It begins with toucansham’s “Beat The Game Glitch-less” run of Sonic 1 on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive. The run is estimated to go for 25 minutes.

Once Sonic 1 is finished, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be next. Joeybaby69 is running this game, and the run isn’t glitch-less, but that’s where the differences end. This will also be on the SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive, and it’s a “Beat The Game” run. It’s estimated to last 30 minutes.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles is the last of the classic SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive trilogy, and it follows Sonic 2 on the schedule. TheSoundDefense will be doing an “All Emeralds” run as Sonic. It is estimated that the run will take an hour and 10 minutes, the longest of the Sonic block.

The last game of the Sonic block is the only 3D Sonic game on the schedule, and it might not be the first 3D Sonic game to come to your mind. Sonic Heroes, played by CriticalCyd on the Wii, will be a “Team Sonic vs Team Chaotix” run. This run is estimated to go for an hour.

All total, the Sonic block is estimated to go for a little over 3 hours. Obviously, this duration is subject to change when the block actually happens. Nevertheless, Summer Games Done Quick 2020 Online goes from August 16th to 22nd. If you plan to tune in, now you know what is in store.
