If you’re as old as Dreadknux is (he’s turning 35 tomorrow!), you’ll remember that way, way back in 2002 Japanese manga book CoroCoro ran a series of Sonic the Hedgehog gag strips. We thought they’d be lost to time to all outside of Japan, but for a limited time CoroCoro has brought back the entire series for online users to read for free!
The comic, titled “Dash & Spin: Super Speed Sonic”, originally ran in CoroCoro comics between the years of 2002 and 2005. They feature Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Amy in a number of weird and funny situations as Dr Eggman tries to ruin their day. From a robotic shark to a strange mushroom costume and even a huge robot controlled by a Nintendo Gamecube controller.
CoroCoro is publishing a collection of these comic strips on their official website, free for all to read until July 1st. It’s to celebrate the launch of the Sonic Movie in Japan, which finally opened in theatres on June 26th. We originally reported on the existence of these comics when they were first being made back in 2002 (read the story here in our archives), so it’s incredibly cool for CoroCoro to let us read it after all these years!
You can start reading by clicking this direct link – change the number at the end of the URL to view a new manga strip (they go up to 19).
Happy 35th, Dreadknux! Hope your day is way past cool, stay Sonic!
Can’t…unsee…naked Eggman!! >.<
Seriously though, this is great. I have seen a few official Sonic mangas over the years but I don't remember hearing of this one until now.
Did anyone happened to download these? I can’t believe I was late to the party on this one.
Awww man! I’m too late! I should’ve known…oh well…
I guess I’ll just leave ^^;
