What are those? Why, they’re split-toe shoes with Sonic’s face on them! Japan-based manufacturer Takasago Sangyo has unveiled new retro Sonic-themed Tabi shoes on SOU SOU’s US online store.
Known as Jika-tabi, these particular split-toe shoes are worn as footwear in Japan, either casually or for occupations that involve a lot of standing around. They are available for $110.00 USD per pair and only come in woman’s sizes at the moment.
Collaboration with SEGA’s Sonic the Hedgehog – ever since the game’s release in 1991, Sonic has been a widely popular character all across the world.
Takasago “Iroha” soled Tabi shoes are the perfect twist to add to your collection today. The soles are lightweight, similar to our Marugo Tabi shoes, but continue to use medium weight cotton canvas to provide more structure. Tabi shoes originally served as work shoes for factory workers and other heavy duty occupations. Each pair is crafted by hand by a skilled artisan.
While certainly stylish and useful for factory work, it’s not recommended you go for a run in them! Bummer. Are you interested in these interesting kicks? Let us know in the comments!
Looks comfortable. Not something I would buy though.
