Modder Discovers ‘Vape Mode’ Music Cheat in Sonic Mania Plus

This week has been a busy week for Mania discoveries, following on from the discovery of various cheat codes, modders have been busy finding new discoveries hidden within Mania’s code.

Modder CodenameGamma was the first to discover a number of cheat codes and along with modders Axanery & Slashiee who also discovered a redundant mode which is disabled in the game.

The games code made references to ‘Vape Mode’, when activated it slows down all the music in the game.

For those of you who grew up with an EU Mega Drive, it brings back many memories of running at 50Htz.

However, unless you have the original PC release, there is no way to activate this on console.

But if you do have a console or PC version of the game, there is a new big discovery which you can do! If you really dislike doing the blues sphere stages, it unlocks every gold medal in the game and thus unlocks everything!

CodenameGamma provides instructions on how to activate the cheat code in this YouTube video, whilst this is for the PC, the code should function across all platforms.

For trophy/achievement hunters, I do not know if this will trigger the related trophy, or if it will lock you out of it, you may want to test this on a second account before trying it on your main.

Since then, the original list of cheat codes has been refined and several other codes which were previously unknown have had their effects published.

• 1 9 7 9 0 8 1 1 – “Stealth’s Code” Changes all Animals into Squirrels.
• 4 1 2 6 – All Emeralds
• 1 9 9 2 1 1 2 4 – Infinite Continues
• 2 0 1 8 0 6 2 3 – Force Encore Mode
• 1 9 8 9 0 5 0 1 – Nothing / All Medals – See Video Below
• 2 0 1 7 0 8 1 5 – Egg Reverie flying in any levels as Super.
• 9 0 0 1 – Max Control For Sonic (Dropdash, Super Peel Out, Insta-Shield)
• 6 2 1 4 – Disable Super Music

Also noticed are that several of the codes are birthdays to various members of the development team.
