About friggin’ time!
Microsoft held their second episode of Inside Xbox yesterday, in which they share a behind-the-scenes look at the company’s inner workings, and today’s livestream held a special announcement regarding backward compatibility on Xbox One.
The gaming giant revealed that a handful of backward compatible Xbox 360 games will become Xbox One X-enhanced, a beefy update through which last-gen titles receive a substantial performance boost on the most powerful home console on the market, after the presentation. Among them is none other than Sonic Generations, which also means that the 20th anniversary title celebrating Sonic’s history has also been finally retrofitted for the Xbox One family of systems as of today!
Episode 2 of Inside Xbox also revealed a ton of new original Xbox games being added to the backward compatible library, including SEGA’s own Panzer Dragoon Orta.
Now that leaves only Sonic Unleashed and Sonic ’06 as the remaining mainline Sonic games to become Xbox One backward compatible… I’ll certainly be keeping my fingers crossed.
Not an xbox person but Sonic 06 needs to come to more platforms, like uh PC, perhaps featuring more bugs Sonic Heroes style. Let the fans play as Blaze again, gosh dangit!
I thought it was about time too. Now we just need to get Sonic Unleashed, Sonic and SEGA All Stars Racing and Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection on backward compatibility.
Sigh, now if only Playstation would give it similar treatment.
Now how about a release on the Switch (since you neglected the Wii and Wii U of this title).
The reason why the Sonic Generations never came to the Wii is because SEGA was wanting it to be in HD. So that’s why we don’t see a Wii version at all.
I’ve experienced a problem. I tried to install the game. But all I got is a message saying “This game is not playable here”, WTH gives

It’s about time. I know many fans have been gunning for Unleashed on PC or Xbox One backwards compatibility but Generations is just as good I guess. I will probably buy it again since I got it on PC first but I use my PC for work nowadays more than anything so console time is treasured.
For fuck sake, finally.
What about the CLASSIC XBox Games: Sonic Heroes, Shadow the Hedgehog, and Sonic Mega Collection Plus?
