E3 2017: Sonic Forces Nintendo Switch footage

Have you been wondering how Sonic Forces would perform on Nintendo Switch? Well wonder no longer! While we were on the E3 show floor, we were able to record some footage directly from a Switch. While it may not be easy to tell, the game is running at a consistent 30 frames per second on the console. As a bonus, you also get some off-the-cuff commentary on the experience from Jason and I.

You can expect a more thorough run down of the Switch version’s performance from us in a video and a write-up later this week.

      1. Breath of the Wild runs at a lower resolution when undocked, maybe Sonic Forces will be 60fps when plugged in?

    1. Don’t expect current gen graphical quality on a Nintendo console. Want 60fps? You gotta pay for a more powerful machine since it renders double what a 30fps-standard system can do.

  1. Its disappointing to see that you can get such a high rank even with such mediocre performances. Especially, why in the world did he get an S for the modern sonic stage lvl???

      1. So do you think will make it more challenging to get an S for the finished version of the game?

  2. I guess Sega did not want to downgrade graphics to make the Switch version 60, but instead kept it the same as other versions at the sake of making this one run at 30fps.

Sad to see that we won’t get 60fps on Switch, but other than Lost World, just about every Sonic game in the last 10 years has been 30fps, so I can deal with it.

  3. I will not buy it in Switch.
Its launch in Switch is the responsible of having medium-low graphics.

I will buy it in PC.
And I encourage you buying in PC or PS4.

    1. It’s mostly the art style which dictates how good the graphics will be. 06 goes for tighter textures and realism while Unleashed, while graphically superior, has a cartoonier style in the NPCs. Forces doesn’t look bad, it’s a very pretty game and I think it’s fine on the Switch.

  4. This is an early beta build it’ll obviously won’t be like this at launch if it stays (would shock me) knowing Sega they’ll have a day 1 patch I’m still getting it for Switch and later PC.
