Check Out Tee Lopes’ Amazing Cover of Sonic Forces’ Main Theme

With SEGA’s panel at SXSW this past week, eager attendees got their first extensive look at the finally unveiled Sonic Forces. Sonic Team looks poised to deliver a game that builds upon the foundations of Colours and Generations, and things certainly seem to shape up that way if an early preview of modern Sonic’s gameplay is of any indication.

The panel then shared the instrumental version of the main theme to Sonic Forces, also revealing that the game’s sound direction will be led by Tomoya Ohtani. It didn’t take too long until fans began remixing the energetic (and dare I say, kinda anime opening-esque?) theme song, and while it will still be a while until we hear the official vocalized version, one awesome cover in particular might just help with the long wait.

Have a listen to Sonic Mania composer Tee Lopes’ rendition below, and share your thoughts with us in the comments!

  1. It’s so weird to hear a remix of a Sonic composer’s work that’s by another Sonic composer.

  2. Oh god, I really hope they end up using this remix to some capacity in either Mania or Forces…OR BOTH! It gives me such hype to hear how it sounds just as epic and awesome in classic format as it does in full-on instrumentals. Plus it’s kind of giving me hope that maybe the two titles might be linked in some way. I mean, it doesn’t really confirm anything, especially since Lopes himself called this a fan cover, but still, being an official composer now, it wouldn’t be unreasonable to see Sega letting him have this remix in one of those games, either as tribute, story purposes, or just for fun. I just really think this deserves to be in a game to some capacity, especially if he does one for the full theme when it gets revealed.

  3. Heard this earlier. Been a fan of Tee Lopes for the past few years. He always delivers.

But since we’re on music, Drake’s “KMT” song samples “His World” from Sonic 06. Check it out.

  4. I like the retro feeling! Still can’t beat the original but is much appreciated, it shows that Tee Lopes is a true fan.
