In 2007, after years of barbs and jabs at one another from either side of the 90s Console Wars, celebrated company mascots Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog finally starred in their first crossover game in the aptly titled Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games. 2008 marked a brand new start for the Blue Blur in his own games as well, with the release of Sonic Unleashed later that year on several platforms – a game that brought new life to the series with transitional 2D and 3D gameplay and the Boost ability, a mechanic that went on to become a staple in later titles until recently.
For today’s Mash-Up Monday, we reflect on that fresh start out of the dark ages with a musical mash-up befitting that era: the 400m Dash theme from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games with Bowling for Soup’s “Endless Possibilities” for Sonic Unleashed, put together by Newbiespud on YouTube (and inspired by Whassup86’s earlier rendition)!

Oh man. I remember I recommended this way back in 2013! I’m glad it finally made a mash-up Monday! I really do like this mash-up. I feel the songs blend to a point where it seems it was meant to be. I also played this song whenever I played Sonic Dash back then. Yeah, this song really does put me in a good mood. There are 400 Endless Possibilities! 🙂
Aw I like the mix of Sonic Unleashed Mario & Sonic At the Olympic Games connected both game music’s it sound fiting for us to listen was so tight to hear the game music’s so much we love it a lot!
No words describe the beauty. Enough said.
400-meter Possibilities
Endless Meters
The first Mario & Sonic game’s music was criminally underrated. In terms of original tracks it’s my favourite of the five because the OST has full-length tracks for each event rather than just short jingles like London and onward.
Awesome to see it get some attention.
Any Slam-Jam Sonic Remixes are good such as this one. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z6jbMdWaeXY
I mean, if you’re looking for mashups this probably isn’t the right source, but there’s this new Youtube channel the uploads high quality video game rips. SiIvaGunner’s rips of Sonic are so high quality they’re almost like hearing the songs for the first time and could probably use a feature on here.
