Ever wanted to hear some classic SEGA tracks with a full orchestra?
Game Symphony Japan is being held on October 10th, and on this night it’s a SEGA-themed special event! Guests like Takashi Iizuka and Jun Senoue will be in attendance to oversee this celebration of SEGA’s legacy of music. Part one of the full program is dedicated entirely to Sonic, and the current lineup for it is listed below;
Sonic the Hedgehog: Green Hill Zone.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Chemical Plant Zone.
Sonic and Knuckles: Sky Sanctuary Zone.
Sonic Adventure: Emerald Coast Zone.
Sonic Adventure 2: City Escape and Live & Learn (both instrumental versions).
Parts 2 and 3 are full of other well-remembered SEGA icons such as Segagaga, Space Channel 5, Fantasy Zone and much more! If you happen to be in Tokyo, here’s the key informations for getting in;
October 10th 2015 (Saturday)
Doors open 15:45, show starts 16:30
Venue is Tokyo Metropolitan Arts Theatre Concert Hall.
Ticket prices: S Seat is 8500 yen, A seat is 7500 yen, B seat is 6500 yen.
Tickets go on sale June 20th.

As usually the Genesis and Adventure Sonic games are the ones that get the most attention and best tributes, not that I’m complaining of course, just wished there were new Sonic games of the caliber those had back in the day, instead we got Boom and Lost World…

Actually, in terms of musical quality, the recent Sonic games have some great orchestral music. Unleashed, Colours and Lost World all had fantastic orchestrated pieces. I’m thinking of the final boss themes in Unleashed and Colours, as well as the main theme of Colours and Lost World. Heck, even the main theme of Sonic Boom is a half decent orchestrated piece by Jacques.
As for this concert… it’s basically a Sonic and NiGHTS symphony, with other SEGA games thrown in the middle. I wish I was there so badly…
Well in terms of music yeah, also Sonic 2006 has some pretty neat music, from stage music to characters songs, and let’s not forget the Solaris Phase 2 theme which is to date my favorite Sonic orchestated song.

Yes! Hope we get a decent video of it somewhere. Also, Chemical Plant? Eh. Never thought that the track was fit for an orchestral rendition, hope this changes my mind though.
