Sonic To Appear In Macy’s 2012 Thanksgiving Parade

Start spreading the news, he’s leaving today, he wants to be apart of it, Macy’s Macy’s!

Ahem,Β Every year Macy’s holds a parade through New York to mark Thanksgiving andΒ you may recall this time last year it was announced that Sonic would be in it? If you live in the EU, Thanksgiving is a celebration involving turkey’s and shopping which is why the parade ends at a department store. That is what it is right? Anyway…

Macy’s have announced that Sonic will be returning to the parade this year. Flying as high as a 550 story building and being led by 8 people. Sonic will march float his way through New York taking in the sights and the sounds of the big city to a crowd of millions. Last year Sonic seemed to be quite popular with videos taken on the day actually showing the crowd cheering and chanting Sonic’s name as he went past them.

The parade will be taking place on Thursday November 22nd at 9am. For full details please visit either the official Macy’s parade website (56k beware!) or NYCTourist.com.

So, anyone planning to attend? Take lots of photos and video, let us know in the comments.

  1. Hope he dose not crash in to a lamp post and knock over a 8 year old and a police officer like he did in 1993.

  2. Wow, two years in a row? Sonic’s sure getting a lot of attention this autumn, what with Wreck-It Ralph’s US release, and now this. πŸ™‚

    1. OMG! First 1993, then 2011 and now this year?! Give me a break!
It is not that I don’t like Sonic, don’t get me wrong I still like him. It’s just that I don’t think the parade should happen in New York City especially right after that awful weather in the East Coast and Sonic should not be in another Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade more than once, he already had his chance. Also, I do not think he will be as popular as Hello Kitty in and outside of Japan at all! There is no way that is going to happen. Even if it does happen, I will not be convinced on what people have to say about it. I am not listening!

        1. I agree. Not exactly a mature display, but I just want this whole hurricane thing to blow over so we can back to the current issues (like the election) that people brush aside and constantly overlook, as well get back to enjoying the few good gems we have left since these past two decades.

      1. What? I don’t get it. Why do people get the impression that hello shitty is more popular then sonic? Just cause it has a pile of fucking chinese knock offs doesn’t make it more popular or succesful.

  3. To promote the S&ASRT, the Sonic balloon should be him in his vehicle, and the vehicle would transform every so often.
    Yes, a transforming balloon.

    1. Yeah that did make my eyebrow raise a little when I read it, but thats how it is on the Macy’s website, gotta be a mistake but since I’ve no clue how big the balloon actually is… meh.

  4. “Flying as high as a 550 story building and being led by 8 people” I think Macy’s is over exaggerating. 8 people can not lift a balloon that high but cant wait to see him float once more!:D

  5. Great to see that Sonic is getting love from the media again. Now to wait for cans of Sonic shaped spaghetti noodles to appear on the shelves of local Shop & Stops.

  6. Sega, Sonic Team and Sonic HIMSELF, are slowly getting back to where they need to be. Soon, he will be just as popular, and have games just as good as he did in the 90’s πŸ™‚

  7. Wow…that should help my recovery from the surgery I have to ensure.
As long as the damn cable don’t go the hell out like it did last year though but thankfully sonic was the first float to go through before the cable went out lol.
