Sega Finally Announces Sonic Adventure 2

At yesterdays Sonic Boom event. Ken Balough took to the stage and asked the crowd to gather as he had an announcement. Teasingly, Ken told the crowd that they were about to announce a game and asked the crowd to guess what game it would be… the lights dimmed, the trailer rolled and the crowd goes wild!

“STOP IT!”

The trailer pokes fun at how this has been one of the best kept secrets ever, as well as how Sega’s recent Sonic games have also been kept a tight secret until announcement. But it’s coming, later this year to XBLA and PSN.

  1. i am confused. i know about sonic adventure BATTLE 2 but, what is sonic adventure 2? a hole new sonic game? or a remake?

    1. Sonic Adventure 2 was the original game on the Sega Dreamcast. Sonic Adventure 2 Battle is the Gamecube port with extra features. I’m assuming that Sega will be porting the Dreamcast version to consoles later this year and then adding the Gamecube features as DLC just like how they did with the Sonic Adventure 1 port.

      1. Not true. The Sonic Adventure port was just Sonic Adventure DX, they just took out a couple of things. Which is absolutely disgusting IMO. The Dreamcast one is so much better, yet they port the PC version simply taking out the missions.

      2. Well what can they really give us the dreamcast version already has 5 mission per level, The only other thing they really added was chao karate and the black market, oh and stats. I suppose they could give racing track dlc, but…I doubt it.

  2. Sounds like fun to me! I’ve been wanting to play this again, and this is the perfect opportunity to do so! I just hope all the Chao breeds are present this time around. Most of them were removed from the downloadable version of SA1.

  3. Excuse my rudeness but… where’s my PC version SEGA? Been waiting for what – 8 years for that?

But if not I guess PSN it is.

      1. All that’s left is a Vita version. Oooh, to have a portable SA2. I might actually carry my Vita around more than my 3DS.

  4. I think the audience thought It was gonna be something we didnt already know about, I know I did.

  5. I was the only person in the crowd shaking their head 😛

I got goosebumps thinking it was a totally new & unannounced game

  6. Quite an excited reaction for a game that everyone in the crowd has probably already played to death.

  7. I wiash I was there. DAMN YOU EUROPE!!! WHY DO YOU HAVE TO BE OVER THE OCEAN?!?!?

    1. I suppose you can hope, I mean the closest thing to working on touch devices like that is the amazing spiderman (ps it would more than likely be I pad exclusive (tablet for android)

  8. At last. The only MAJOR sonic game I’ve never had a chance to play (never had a dreamcast or gamecube – only a PS1, Ps2). Hope it lives up to all the hype – I know graphically its going to be p**s poor next to generations

  9. Ken Balough promoting the trailer?

The trailer looks like a Sonic 4 trailer.

This can only mean one thing: they’re making Sonic 4: Episode 3, and it will be a prequel to SA2.

  10. Kick ass the original dreamcast version for PS3 & Xbox 360 that coming on 03/10/2012. It only they add sonic adventure 2 BATTLE upgrade as DLC (just for the Chao World and 2 player vs mode) “Chao”

    1. Well as I mentioned above: What can they really give us the dreamcast version already has 5 mission per level, The only other thing they really added was chao karate and the black market, oh and stats. I suppose they could give racing track dlc, but…I doubt it.

  11. Here’s what they’re gonna do, port the gamecube version, lock it’s exclusive content, advertise it as the Dreamcast version and sell us an unlock as DLC.

  12. LOL “Leaking onto consoles this fall”. I’ve never played this game so this will be a great chance for me to pick it up on PSN!

  13. Finally sega is doing the right thing ! They are releasing old classics that people want to play releasing decent sonic games ( except for colors .. ) and shuning the nintendo brand . I love it !

  14. I find it classic of the gang to actually re-promote this title. Best of all, the reaction is just awesome!
    (seriously it just is)
