NiGHTS Into Dreams HD Announced, Rejoice Everyone!

httpv://youtu.be/qb_CJLofgPY

I hope all of you are ready to fly through the skies of Nightopia in HD, because an HD remake of NiGHTS into Dreams is coming to Xbox Live, Playstation Network and Windows PC Download this fall!ย  The remake will include leaderboards, achievements/trophies, and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It will also include a “Saturn” mode featuring the graphics of the SEGA Saturn original for all of you retro gamers who want to experience the game in all of it’s original, low poly glory.

“The SEGA Saturn offered many unique gaming experiences, and NiGHTS into dreamsโ€ฆ stands out as one of the most recognizable titles that found a home on the system,” said Chris Olson, Vice President of Digital Business at SEGA. “We’ve gotten a lot of requests about this game over the years, and are very happy to be able to give both former Saturn owners and new players a chance to play it in its most beautiful form to date this fall.”

No word on whether the game will include the special features of the NiGHTS into Dreams PS2 remake, which this port bears some resemblance to. Here’s hoping it includes that version’s extra features like Christmas NiGHTS.

  1. YES! FINALLY!

My inner fanboy has been dying to play this game ever since I first saw NiGHTS in Sonic Riders. Journey of Dreams was fun too, in my opinion at least, but I owe it to myself to play this. Can’t wait!

  2. since i heard the news, it spread the internet like Hell Fire just broke loose

  3. This was being planned for quite so time. It makes logical sense for Nights to be re-released in a leap year. 1996 was a leap year like 2012 is.

This is SEGA’s new 3rd party strategy folks. Prepare for more HD digital revamps of their heyday classics as SEGA wraps up its 11 year 3rd party only run.

  4. Cool, so I’m guessing this makes KNiGHTS’ inclusion in All-Stars Racing Transformed even more possible?
Anyways, looking forward to playing this, I’ve never played a NiGHTS game before, but it looks fun.

  5. Been waiting to play this game FOR YEARS ever since I first saw NiGHTS in SA1 Casinopolis pinball section, Kudos to Trippy from Nid.com for pushing for this port for many years ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. YES! So getting this, day one. Also, about that Christmas NiGHTS thing… The release date is in the fall. When Christmas is. And Presents. JUST SAYIN’

  7. Hope they stick with Saturn remakes for a long time ๐Ÿ™‚ A crystal clear Burning Rangers.. *sigh*

  8. I’ve really wanted to play this since playing the sequel for Wii! But it didn’t seem worth buying a Saturn/imported PS2 to play. My opinion on this in a nutshell: It’s about damn time.

    1. No plans for a Wii U port. Period. SEGA of Japan has little interest in the system.

    1. Too many Wii owners acted ungrateful about Journey Into Dreams and complained that it was too different from the 1996 Saturn which is preposterous because majority of Wii’s owners were TOO little to remember Nights and would have been like 3-4 years old during the game’s prime: 1996-1997.

They have nobody but themselves to blame.

  9. Amazing! Let’s hope this opens the doors for some other HD Saturn remakes! I’d be all over Burning Rangers. Dark Saviour as well, but I’m probably alone on that one!

I’m sure there was some other good games. I always defended my Saturn back in the day. But thinking back now, I can’t think of any good games…

    (Maybe Panzer Dragoon Saga!)

    1. Its not popular enough to warrant any attention from SEGA of Japan.

Outside of Europe, the game is reviled.

  10. Early in my love for Sega stuff this game was like, the holy grail of Sega games that as a fan you had to play. There was so much good talk of it, much like Sonic CD, that it had this really holy status to it. I’m VERY much looking forward to playing this!

  11. “and a 16:9 aspect ratio”

The original already had 16:9 aspect ratio…
