FINAL SEGASonic:Radio Livecast: Sunday, 3PM GMT

SEGASonic: Radio, TSS’ livestream of 24/7 Sonic the Hedgehog music, will unfortunately be closing it’s doors on Sunday for some much needed renovation. The station has been in a state of gradual deterioration for some time, with shows becoming increasingly intermittent and scarce, mostly due to other (mostly real-world) obligations of the DJs.

While Project 24 has remainded an extremely successful event, the airwaves have been uncharacturistically quiet for the remainder of the year, with few listeners enticed to regularly tune in. During this down time there will be some eager beavers working on many ideas and ways to improve the station, as BlitzChris, head of SS:R, tells on the SS:R site.

Sunday afternoon will mark SS:R’s going away party, where you can joinΒ  BlitzChris from 3:00PM GMT, joined by SSMB remix projectΒ head Jeffhog, who will be playing the station out with a selection of songs from this album of works.

Have no fear however; you can still get your fix of shows and music from our friends over at RadioSEGA, featuring some awesome regular fixtures such as SEGA AGES, Saturday Night SEGA and SEGA Phantasy Zone.

  1. I can see how this needed to be done, for the sake of rejuvenating the station again. It’s sad to see how the station went under like this, despite the special event that were on the stream. But it’s for the best, and the show this coming Sunday I hope can give some willpower to the relaunch of the site.

As for RadioSEGA, speaking on behalf as a member of it’s message boards and an avid listener, that station will make to entertain the many Sonic fans & SEGA fans out there! πŸ˜€

  2. wat.
    NUUUUUUU!!

This shall be missed, RadioSEGA won’t be the same as SSR D:

Oh well, I better start working for this Sunday’s radio, I haven’t finished my track yet.

    R.I.P SSR.

  3. This has to be one of the saddest things I’ve heard in a long time. I loved listening to SSR whenever I was reading, surfing the internet, and occasionally streaming on my phone while driving.

I hope that SSR can return as soon as it possibility can because nothing else can seem to satisfy my Sonic music fix.

  4. In that case, I wish the SS:R a healthy rejuvenation process after its final livecast.

That being said, are your bodies compatible with – and ready for – awesome, everyone?

  5. …I’m sorry, but… aren’t you guys over exaggerating a bit? Just because it’s gonna be closed, it doesn’t automatically equal it’s dead and it will never return. ._. I’m sure they would’ve specified that if it were the case.

Think about it like this: your favourite store is now closed, primarily due to the fact that it is needing some much needed renovation: the building is in shambles because those running it simply cannot do so for some reason or another. Does that mean it is dead?

The answer, readers and listeners, is no. It even clearly states that “during this down time there will be some eager beavers working on many ideas and ways to improve the station, as BlitzChris, head of SS:R, tells on the SS:R site.”

    tl;dr,

SEGASonic:Radio is NOT DEAD. It is merely put on hold for an indefinite amount of time in order to make it better upon its return. BlitzChris blatantly implies that he and the SS:R team won’t let the station die.

    1. Took the words right outta my mouth VizardJeffhog, spot on. And besides…..there’s other stations that would gladly take in the shows for the time being…..although some of these shows have lost some of their SEGASonic luster…except for Turbo Drive Live and Talk It Up!, but that’s just my opinion….

  6. No offense, but I’ve kinda felt RadioSEGA is better than SS:R – but that’s only because the playlist is diverse and isn’t restricted to the Hog. Plus, if you have never heard SEGA AGES before, you owe it to yourself to catch it.

  7. SSR WILL return πŸ™‚

You know when your favourite shop puts up barriers and says they’re renovating? And then you go and visit in a few weeks time and you’re heads blown with how awesome and shiny the store looks now?

I’m hoping we all get that feeling with the new site. Stay tuned πŸ˜€ It’s going to be a bumpy ride!

  8. wow, ive always listened to this whenever i was reading the sonic comics, this sucks, hope you guys make an awesome return though

  9. We’re down but we’re not out! During the downtine remember that the media archive is still available. I can’t speak for the other DJ’s but those that listen to my show regularly know that you have a good time….If you need a good way to burn 3 hours…check out my 2 year anniversary special…but we will return!

  10. I am a terrible person, I haven’t listened to the radio stuff here in agesssss. When it all comes back up I’ll be sure to try and listen more (psst: if you guys play some PSO music I’ll be even quicker to jump on…unless you guys already do then I AM SHAMEDDDDD). But yeah, stoked for the renovation. Also I’ll try and catch the listening party since I contributed a few things to it, but I have a feeling I’ve gotta work that day (I work every Sunday) so I might have to miss it. If people can record it so I can catch it afterwards, that’d be appreciated!

  11. So there’s just going to be renovations and stuff and then it’s back? I don’t want it to go bye-bye. πŸ™

  12. Took one of my random visits onto TSS to find this little tidbit of news – which is a shame to hear after all this time. Best of luck for the last LiveCast (at least for now) this weekend, and hopefully whatever comes out of the current SSR’s ashes will be well worth the listen.

(Made me wish I’d kept my old SSR LiveCast reels from ’06 for the media server, if only to prove it existed (!); alas I don’t! Glad to see that has been back to being Aussie-run for this last part of this life, though!)

Cheers and best of luck to BlitzChris for the renovations ahead πŸ™‚

  13. I did mention this on Twitter, but if there’s any DJs who want a temporary home for their shows whilst SS:R is off air, and if the SS:R crew are OK with it, then you’re more than welcome to get in contact and we’ll try and fit you in on RadioSEGA. We don’t have a lot of shows, and most of them are during the weekend, so it shouldn’t be too hard.

It’s all cool if you would rather explore other ventures, like Turbo seems to be doing with Ustream, but I thought I’d extend the offer on the off chance.

Hope SS:R isn’t down for too long, and best of luck with the improvements πŸ™‚

      1. Haha Jeffhog, we’re not merging with RadioSEGA, Gavvie’s just extending a helpful hand to us in what I suppose could be called “A time of need”.

SEGASonicRadio will be returning as it’s own entity when it resurfaces πŸ™‚

        1. I know, I know. xD It was just a harmless thought my thinking was thinking of thoughtfully.

  14. Did lightning hit the transmitter or something? SSR’s been down since about 9AM UK time this morning.

  15. wow things have been inactive lately, maybe i should make my podcast live once i get the equipment to do so, then i can contribute to ssr like ive dreamed of doing
