Sonic Generations US Release Date Officially Confirmed, 3DS Date Still Unclear

SEGA has updated their Sonic Generations product page in all territories with their respective release dates for the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. Though SEGA’s ad at IGN gave it away last month, we now officially know the game will launch in the US on November 1st, and as reported earlier, November 4th in Europe and November 3rd in Australia.

EU
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 4th 2011
3DS: November 2011

US
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 1st 2011
3DS: Late 2011

AU
PS3 & Xbox 360: November 3rd 2011
3DS: November 2011

As for the Nintendo 3DS version of Sonic Generations, there is no release date clearer than November to speak of, which suggests the game will release on that platform later in the month. We’ll let you know when a release date for the that version of the game is revealed.

    1. Yeah, SEGA’s late to the party on their own details as usual XD We’re just covering it because it’s the official revealing of the date.

    1. It should be. SEGA had the PS3 and Xbox 360 version down as ‘Late 2011’ for the US before they updated it today, despite the fact they kept saying November 2011 in previous news posts and interviews etc….

  1. Can’t wait for Generations!

So many games in October and November. But what am I saying, isn’t it always that way?

  2. I’d assume 3DS version is out 30th November, but don’t hold your breath.

Also, Modern Green Hill Boost sounds really familiar… It really reminds me of Green Hill Zone from Sonic Battle on the GBA.

  3. I realy wan’t to get this and WILL at some point but pity the only way I’ll get it in Nov. is if some person randomly gives me like $270

  4. So if UK/EU relase date is 4 November and Amazon should dispatch my Collectors Edition 2 days before it combined with fact that I choosed Courier Express delivery (2-3 days) Its possible I will get it on relase date 😀

  5. This is great! Much earlier than I thought it was going to be. Now all we need is a cutscene.

  6. Wow, another game to look forward to in November. Generations, Minecraft, Skyward Sword, AC Revelations, Uncharted 3, Halo Anniversary…. ur… MW3????? T_T

Ok, make that Generations, Skyward Sword, and Minecraft.

  7. maybe they got negative fan reaction to the all-2D sonic generations 3DS, and delayed it to make it 3D! As if. I can still hope, though.

  8. The 3DS version’s release date in Japan is the same as the PS3/360 version’s, which is December 8th, 2011. Though the CERO rating for the 3DS version is still under examination.

Assuming the non-Japanese versions are released first before the Japanese version, they will be released no later than December 8th, 2011. Also assuming there will be a special content for the 3DS version revealed in the Tokyo Game Show 2011, the non-Japanese versions will be released no sooner than September 18th, 2011.

The 3DS version was developed by Dimps, the last ‘3D’ Sonic stages developed by Dimps were in Sonic Unleashed (released in 2008). The 3DS version most likely started its development life as a DS game like Sonic Rush.

  9. Why November 1? I do believe that is a Tuesday. Why not Friday? It makes more sense >.> (Either way I have college both days, so I won’t be able to play it. CURSE YOU COLLEGE! CURSE YOUUUUU!)
