Sonic Generations Demo Approved For Australia

Australia’s Classification Board today approved a demo for Sonic’s new PS3 and Xbox 360 title Sonic Generations. The board rated the demo ‘General’, which deems it fit for all audiences to play. With the demo being rated now and the full game not due out until the holiday season later this year, could we be getting to download a sample of the game sooner rather than later?

A demo for Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) was released on Xbox Live Marketplace in September, rather than around the full game’s November release, as with most game’s demos. There’s always the possibility that this could just be a rating for a demo being shown to the press and/or public at various events though, so don’t get your hopes too high.

Sonic’s 20th Birthday is June 23rd and we’re sure a demo release around then would be a welcome surprise for fans.

  2. Actually, I could really see them doing this. The game won`t be out till later this year, so, releasing a demo on Sonic´s Big Day would fit quite nicely into the picture/festivities and off course to wet our appetites. I certainly wouldn’t mind it. 🙂

  3. Releasing a demo close to Sonic’s Birthday for this game is a great idea! As far as we know, both modern and classic mode Green Hill Zones are finished, and maybe some more would be done by the 23rd, so we could get to play those 😀

    1. Nahh, I doubt it. At most, we could only get Green Hill Zone, if were lucky, and if SEGA is in a really good mood haha.

    1. No, a demo isn’t already out. The demo has been rated today, so unless this rating is for a demo being shown at events, then we could possibly soon see a demo released on Xbox Live Marketplace and/or PlayStation Network. As for the game’s release, it’s due out in the holiday season, not June, so it’ll likely come out November, like Sonic ’06, Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Colours.

      1. Shadzter, they already revealed that they pushed the release date back to December specifically, remember? So it is holiday season, in December. :]

        That also rules out Summer.

          1. I actually remember hearing a December release date somewhere as well. SEGA themselves probably haven’t said anything, I think it was from a magazine or interview.

  6. FORGET MY First comment! so the demo already out! and the full game is not coming out in the holiday in december, this means this game is going to be longest game in history of sonic games!

  7. I like to see Sonic VS. Metal Sonic in Stardust Speedway Zone for this game. That would be awesome.

      1. You forget who you rescue at the end of Stardust Speedway?

        At first glance you think it’s a well-meaning post, but then you realize that at the end of Stardust Speedway, there’s a chapel instead of a post Amy’s supposed to be tied to.

        1. That just reminds me how unlikely the level might be. The race to save Amy is classic storyline. That’d mean, if both Modern and Classic Sonic play it, that unless Amy needs to be rescued twice in a row and Metal Sonic feels like racing twice in a row, both Sonics can’t do the race.

          Though it’d be cool to see the Sonic Boost actually be used for an intense race for a change. It’d be very suitable. Perhaps Classic Sonic might race him and Modern will just run through the stage. But if Modern Sonic races and Classic just goes through the stage, that’d be COOL.

          Then again, they usually make references and remakes based on the first act of each stage. So Stardust Speedway might be more like Act 1 than Act 3 or boss or whatever. lol XP

  8. And when this comes out in November/december(I hope it comes out in December)This makes a lot of sense. Think of it, SEGA has been working on this game for about 2 years now (since it was leaked in 2009) and also in that 2nd Interview with Izuka, it showed a play booth for SG, with the first 2 levels. And since GHZ has been done for a while, it would only make sense to have out a demo! 😀 I DOUBT IT THOUGH, because when the DS Sonic Colors came out, it was like 1 month away from the real game. So its seems….rather unlikely :/ I’m serious, I will scream so hardof excitement(even though I’m a guy 😉 if they do release a demo!

  10. Demos are great. I remember back when Mario Kart Double Dash came with that disc with the Sonic Heroes Demo, I played it probably 50 times.

    1. DUDE, the HOLIDAY means December/november! Not june or july. What have u been smoking? And if it were out in a month or two, SEGA would’ve announced this game months ago! Its the holiday 🙂 *sighhh fans these daysss…

  16. I wonder Sonic’s friends will be playable or be part of the story?
    I had feeling is Sonic Generations’s story will be funny like Sonic Colors.
    Modern Sonic will laugh because Classic Sonic can’t talk like no-sound Mickey Mouse in 1920s. LOL.

Haha I wish there were more characters, but sadly in an interview with Iizuka, he said that Sonic’s friends will not be playable, but will appear in the game one way or another…..I guess that means they are in the story mode? Iizuka also said that they used EVERY possible chance to use Sonic’s friends in the game! I guess that’s a good sign! 😀

  19. A demo in June would be awesome. It’s hard waiting so long for new Sonic games. It was especially hard for me to wait for Sonic Unleashed back in 2008.

    I hope we get to see modern characters such as Shadow and Silver in classic forms. That’d be cute, I think.
