According to a report from GoNintendo, SEGA will be holding a press event in just a few weeks time. The above image is of a list of known games and developers that will be at the event, including Super Monkey Ball 3D, Virtua Tennis 4, Conduit 2, Total War: Shogun 2 and Yakuza 4. No further details about this event are currently available, but as soon as we find out more we’ll let you know. With Sonic’s 20th Anniversary this year, could SEGA be planning to announce a new Sonic game? According to SEGA Europe’s Alan Pritchard, two Sonic announcements are going to be made in the early part of this year, so this event would fit that timing perfectly.

Of course they’ll be announcing a new Sonic game, they just don’t want us to know yet because they know we’ll all freak out.
well that does make sense. Since it is a Press event. that means its possible to let out a “Press release” of a newly announced title that was previously unnanounced (the Sonic title is confirmed, but still unannounced). I won’t hold my breath, but its nice to see some light at the end of th tunnel in regards to Sonic news.

Two Sonic announcements? Sonic 4: Episode 2 and a Sonic 3DS game. Yes, I’m just guessing, but I was an Assistant Producer on Sonic 4: Episode 1 (I don’t remember doing it, but watch the credits, and there I am), so I should know.
Although seriously, if one of the two announcements isn’t a 3DS Sonic game, I have to wonder what they’re waiting for.

@PC the Hedgehog: Nope. GoNintendo just says “in a few weeks”. They say it as if the event’s been known about for a while, but their mention is the first I’ve heard of it. I’ve searched and searched around the net, but there’s no more details out there.

I’ve been checking Sonic Stadium multiple times an hour for the last 9 days, waiting and waiting for a new game announcement… this makes me feel that the wait is almost over.

That wasn’t the intention. I saw the news at GoNintendo and thought I’d report about it here. There’s nothing wrong with me adding a little piece of questioning as to whether or not any Sonic announcements will be made at a SEGA press event. That definitely wasn’t my focus. I’m not impatient or desperate for news.
You guys at SEGA can reveal news when you’re ready, I’m not fussed. I’m certainly not out there ‘scraping the barrel’. Just thought folks would like to know there’s a press event coming up, that’s all.
AT LEAST 2 games. Also, they will be revealed before April.
Hopefully a new Sonic Fighter.
