This was a really good issue. The last couple of two-parters really only felt serviceable, but this one not only gives some much needed back story to a character that’s long needed it, but has introduced some shades of gray that Sonic comics have been lacking in. In any case, the issue is now out in comic specialty shops this week, and will released on newsstand come next week.
This comic also sees the debut of new artist Ben Bates as the main story artist.
Here’s the preview pages and solicitation.
“Thicker than Water” Part One:
Sonic and Bunnie head out into the Great Desert to aid Freedom Fighters in need, but they get caught up an whirl-wind ruckus! Who is friend and who is foe? Sonic comes face-to-face with enemies of the past while Bunnie is reunited with someone of her mysterious past! Then, in “Welcome Back, Chao!” Amy Rose runs into a few familiar faces – and a few new ones, too!

cool
Can Oil Ocean now be a “too soon” thing since the 2010 gulf oil spill?
My bookstore still hasn’t gotten 216. …I really need a subscription.
@Jason
I’m sure no one will mind a comic book about an oil location created 18 years ago.
See, Sonic is drowning in the oil… yet in Sonic 2 he could jump out… never understood that.
I really hate reading those previews, because as soon as the comic gets interesting, there’s no more pages left. >:|
Two words: Must buy.
Oil Ocean? Awesome. Ben Bates? Another Tracey Yardley house style artist… and that’s bad considering a good majority of Yardley’s art is bland. Was nice to have some Sonic Eggs pages from Yardley though…
Call me when they get Art Mawhinney back to doing some stories. That or someone with some style who is capable of making dynamic art that looks like some love was put into it. Sheesh. I want great art again.
I would all Tracey simple and somewhat effective, personally my favorite is Steven Butler, mostly beacuse everything he draws is very detailed and dynaimic, and has also alot of emotion behind it
The term “Hes the fastest thing alive” And yet in Sonic X they said Sonic could travel the world in a Day. Then here, Bunnie is beating him. I say Sonic could travel the world in a second :O (FanFic).
@SoySoy
I’ve heard subsciptions can be even more unreliable sometimes.
Looks pretty good.
@ Edge Easy, look at the first page the comic says
“Welcome to the planet Mobius — A world unique and beyond what *you know* from the *Sega games* — Where Sonic and the blah blah blah, where Sonic can’t just jump out of the oil like Sonic 2 , Blah blah from the forces of evil!”
Yep, some people actually read the beginning yellow text.
Strange isn’t it?
the fourth (4ยบ) picture is very very very similiar to Sonic’s running in Sonic4 ๐
@Will
Argh, really? …Looks like I’ll always be behind in my comics. *weeps profusely*
