SEGA Raises Fiscal Year Sales Forecast

SEGA Raises Fiscal Year Sales Forecast

Things have been good for SEGA’s profits this last year. First, SEGA reported a profit on it’s third quarter statement back in February. Then, in August, SEGA reported 7 billion yen in profit for it’s first quarter of it’s 2010-2011 fiscal year. All of this great news has resulted in SEGA’s stock price hitting it’s highest price since 2007, where it’s stayed close to ever since.

The good times keep on coming. While video game giants like Nintendo continue to lower their own fiscal year forecast, SEGA has now raised it’s overall sales forecast for its entire fiscal year, ending March 31st 2011, from $400 billion yen ($4.7 billion) to $410 billion yen ($4.9 billion). This has mostly been brought on by increased revenue from SEGA’s amusement division, particularly it’s Pachinko/Pachislot machine sales.

It’s consumer sales, however, have continued to be weak. According to SEGA, “While the consumer business saw mainly sales of new titles in overseas markets hover at weak volumes, the amusement machine sales business and amusement center operations business are expected to maintain robust operating results.”

  1. I’m hoping SEGA once again becomes a Video Game Giant. If SEGA were to go under they’d probably get bought out by Microsoft and next thing you know we’ll have games like “Sonic the Hedgehog Nuts and Bolts”

    …yech’

  2. No, we’d have Halo Sonic….that would just make me hate microsoft with a passion. I hate Halo already, so….

  3. Dreamcast 2 needs to happen.
Money was the reason they went under
Now, with said money they can make a new console.
Imagine… The dreamcast was a powerhouse 2 years before ps2
Now Sony sucks! They could be the king again!0

If you are seriously, you really know nothing do you?

If you are kidding… the joke isn’t funny.

Making a bit of profit and raising Sales Forecast for the year does not suddenly mean that Sega is in the money. Compared to the ‘Big Three’, those being Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo Sega is ill equiped to manufacture its own competing console. We should also remember that Sega has published a lot of recent new IP’s that haven’t been very profitable such as MadWorld and Bayonetta and with the release of Vanquish in a few weeks profit forecasts are questionable.

Just be glad we still have Sega around.

  6. It’s pretty strange.. sure video game sales are down thanks to the Farmville generation.. but at the same time, video game arcades are almost non existent in the US.

    Anyway, Kudos Sega!

  7. If SEGA could figure out a way to emulate and port “Knuckles’ Chaotix” and “SegaSonic the Hedgehog” (the arcade game) They could make a huge profit.

  8. @ Jix Hedgehog

  9. Are you forgetting what caused Sega to Go low back in the days?
