Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 Updates Coming

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 Updates Coming

Those awaiting updates for Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 will be glad to hear that they won’t have to wait much longer.  SEGA of America Community Manager RubyEclipse has revealed in a post at the SEGA Forums yesterday that the updates could be coming as soon as next week and hints at the next zone reveal by stating that the Sonic 4 website will be getting a new zone overhaul. In his post, RubyEclipse has a question to ask of the fans before SEGA reveal anything, “Would you guys like to know only about the biggest updates to the final version of the game, or would you also like to know about the smaller ones?”

Sonic 4 update question – for you guys!

Hi everyone,

With our Sonic 4 Birthday Contest wrapping up soon and our final Hedgehog Day prizes about to go out the door, I have a question for you all with regard to the next news about the game.

Coming up, we’re going to be revealing many of the changes that we spoke about a couple months ago when we announced the extended development. With the website getting another big zone overhaul (possibly as soon as next week), I wanted to pose another question to you guys and get your thoughts.

Would you guys like to know only about the biggest updates to the final version of the game, or would you also like to know about the smaller ones? I ask because though not every update is massively game changing, there are some nice minor touches that I think some fans would appreciate. In any case, I’d like to know what you guys think, since you’re all quite passionate and engaged. (You too, lurkers!)

Let us know which you’d prefer (only big changes, or all changes) in a post below. I’ll be looking over the feedback for a couple days until the end of this Thursday. Thanks everyone!

As stated in the above post, answers are to be posted in the SEGA Forums topic and must be in by the end of tomorrow to be taken into consideration.

  1. Also, that “all details” thing is just saying. I’m not really a frequent on their forums.

  2. Well I would like to know all of the above! 🙂 Well I also want to know is debug mode in it.

  3. If anyone can build hype on a game that has been leaked (well the beta-build) it’s Aaron.
All changes, so maybe this madness will stop.

  4. I’d actually like to hear the smaller updates, since if there IS anything big left about the game, I’d like to find out for myself.

  5. @ stuhp : You took the exact words right out of my mouth! They sure are beating around the bush with this game and we still don’t have a playable demo.
I’d like a big reveal, all the small stuff I can experience myself when I play the full version of the game

  6. I’d rather see the game content when I play it then have SEGA spoil it all, no thanks. ;P

  7. @Jix: You would’ve had the E3 version if you’d come to either E3 or SoS10. That was the playable demo.

  8. I’m intrested in wondering if the level designs have been tweeked from fan feedback and if the Spin Dash will be as fast as it was in Sonic’s 1 2 and 3 (& Knuckles)

  9. Sweet announcement, but there’s not much to go on.

In other words, just give us the damn goods, SEGA.

  10. I’d rather they kept as much from us as possible. The community as a whole takes every little detail SEGA gives us and it kills the game in ratings when it finally gets released.

  11. I’d say give us every detail, for those that want the details. Especially would like to know the release date AND I’d like to know if there’s a debug mode!

  12. @Umiyuri: Well some of us aren’t fortunate enough to go to E3 now are we?

Anyway, I cannot wait to hear what new updates are coming.

  13. I don’t think anyone seems to understand the question accept maybe 2 people in this forum! XD

Some of the things people want fall under “Big changes” or “Small changes”, sooo just say big or small please. xD

BIG changes or SMALL changes. Choose one, not both.

Stop asking for the release date. That’s a given around the time it comes out anyways.

Asking for no revealing at all isn’t a good choice. If you don’t want to know about it, don’t read/watch the updates on it. Let people who don’t care about “spoilers” take a look. (How can you spoil GAMEPLAY? There’s a difference between knowing and experiencing, watching and doing. And what about this so-called “replay value”? I don’t think the classic games are spoiled even AFTER PLAYING THEM. xD)

I choose big. The small details don’t interest me in episode 1. =] Maybe in episode 2.

  14. @ Umiyuri : I was lucky enough to go to E3 this year and played it, I meant a 360/PS3 demo download.

Now that I’m bringing it up… we’d love a Sonic Colo(u)rs DS demo download please Nintendo 😀

  15. I’m totally cool with this. Not only will we be seeing notable improvements made to the game, but also we’ll be getting an insight to how games in general are tweaked and balanced. Roll on next week, I say.

  16. just give us the damn game. ive heard all i need i mean what else is there to know ? (except for the release date)

  17. At this stage I’d be happier with the big things, until the game comes out. We don’t need patch notes, and we don’t need the redesign of a flower “leaked” to the website.

Just keep the game shaping up as spiffy as it seems to be, SEGA…
