  1. Great example… I’m assuming this is Europe only?

Mine would lose because it involves 06 (my favorite game ever) and everyone hates that game…

[COMPETITION IS OPEN WORLDWIDE BECAUSE WE ROCK, and don’t be put off – enter anyway! – T!]

  2. Favourite moment for me was in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for Master system.
I could never get one of the emeralds so always got the bad ending. Then 1 day out of luck I managed to find a hidden platform with it. When I defeated metal Sonic and got on the bonus level I was truly amazed. Always loved that crystal egg zone ever since. Still remember the first time seeing Sonic and Tails running at the end. It made it worth trying to get all the emeralds. : )

  3. My favourite Sonic moment was when Excalibur-Sonic gives Merlina (Dark Queen) the thumbs up before dealing the final blow

  4. You’re right, there are just too many.. The first time I saw Sonic on the MegaDrive made my jaw drop, I cried when I completed Sonic 2, the day I started dating a boy from school cos he stole my Sonic rubber that was free from StC when he thought it was his, the day I went miles from my hometown to get on board the Sega Bus so I could play Knuckles Chaotix on the 32x but they didn’t have it, when I went to Sega World and got my picture taken next to a statue of Sonic, making friends on Dreamarena with this kid who sent me his Sonic drawings that I still actually have, when my idiot brother went to jail he also sent me drawn pictures of Sonic to keep in touch, Summer of Sonic obviously..

These aren’t my entries, I’m just ruminating 😀

Nineteen years.. Still young for Sonic, but makes me feel old.

  5. My favourite moment was when I first got a PS2, my very first game being Sonic Heroes. I was really happy at that time because not only was it the only game I had for the PS2, but it was (and still is) one of the greatest games in my opinion, being able to work with Sonic, Tails and Knuckles as a team was a really good idea, and so I was fascinated as a 12 by that 🙂
I was over the moon when i completed the game 😀 I felt like i accomplished something.

  6. You know what, I’ll go on ahead just in case.

My favorite hedgehog moment was in Sonic the Hedgehog for the Xbox 360. In my moment I had just gone back through the game ‘S’Ranking all the Sonic stages. That achievement had to be mine! I mean, after all, I bought the system for that game alone, so I had to try my hardest. My only problem was on the Silver boss fight. The little bastard kept grabbing me with his psychokinesis and my feeble little 12 year old mind couldn’t grasp the concept of just waiting for the right time. Sonic taught me to be impatient, and I wasn’t going to let my hero down. So I pressed ‘A’ unknowing what hilarious horrors were about to take place…

The battle began and Silver said ‘How bout this?’ ‘TAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKE THIS!’ in his whiny voice. I ran up towards a wall in the back, where the bridge is that leads to the new city… or was it the forest? I don’t really know because SEGA made Soleanna necessarily big. Back on topic, Silver ran up to the wall, I thought I was through and so was my achievement… fear grasped a hold of me, I was scared this would lead to a game over and the cruelty of waiting through 5 minutes worth of loading screens would surely happen… but what’s this?

Silver threw me up against a wall and then suddenly I kept collecting a ring, then it happened.

I got thrown out of the invisible barrier and right into the bridge! I laughed and laughed at the concept of the map being unfinished and running along invisible bridges… this truly showed how little time was put into this game. I came back to the only visible bridge, the one that I was thrown at, and started taunting silver, he ran up against a wall unable to do anything but run and jump. I took off and explored some more when suddenly, out from behind me, “IT’S NO USE!”, I jumped but he still caught me! Silver suddenly screamed “TAAAAAAAAAKE THIS!” and next thing I know, I’m being launched into space! Minutes passed until Sonic finally hit the top of the world. He back-flipped, said “uh” and then fell to his demise. Nostalgia came through my patriotic cobalt blue SEGA heart as Sonic appeared to re-enact Shadows death in Sonic Adventure 2. Then I sat through five minutes worth of loading screens and tried it again.

That’s my story. Hold you’re applause. If you want to see this glitch in motion, just ask me and I may upload it to YouTube later, it may take a while, because my camera sucks and records like 200 MB per minute.

If I somehow manage to win, I’ll take anything aside from the Archie comic (not an archie fan) and Sonic and the Black Knight Sonic (already have it)… but that’s only if I can choose, I’ll take anything.

  7. I’ll try this again since I used a different email address and I don’t want to wait for moderation.

You know what, I’ll go on ahead just in case.

  8. My best Sonic moment, was when I was a kid. Like quite a few of us I was in the Cub Scouts for a time, and about this same time, I had got the Mega Drive when it came out, with Sonic 1. Was so amazed with this game, there wouldn’t be a time where I wouldn’t be off of the game.

Soon after there was a trip to a park, Marwell I think, my mind eludes me, but when I got there Sonic was there! Being a kid, leads to a wild imagination and I actually thought Sonic was there, in real life, visiting my park on my trip!

So enamored with him being there, I went up said hello, and told him how awesome I thought his game was, and how I wanted to run as fast as he did.

    Ah, memories. 😀

In retrospect, that guy in the suit must of thought I was nuts.

  9. Sonic used to be pretty gigantic for me. Don’t get me wrong, I still love the blue bugger (hell, I’m a guy who favours the new 3D titles to the old 2D ones), but I’m talking about a period where I was a massive nutter. The sort of guy who spends most of his day on a Sonic forum, has a huge Sonic mp3 playlist on play all the time, buying all the games on release day, absorbing all the info and trivia he could find, torrenting fansubbed Sonic X episodes on day of release, etc. That period took a good few years of my life and a lot of the early-mid 00’s are clouded in Sonic shades for me.

Like you could’ve guessed, all that’s slightly faded away now and whilst I’m still a fan, the series doesn’t dominate my spare time anymore. A lot of the whole Sonic thing carries a nostalgic tone for me and is something I wheel out occasionally rather than all the time. I mean heck, I don’t even visit Sonic forums anymore outside the occasional lurk. And then, on one completely ordinary day while I was on a bog-standard boring commute between work and home, the SA2 version of Believe in Myself started playing on my shuffled up mp3 player. I don’t know how it got there – I can’t remember putting much Sonic stuff in the tiny little thing (twas one of the first generation iPods with very little storage space). Yet there it was, playing its cheesy little power pop melody. During that song pretty much every single memory of those massive fanboy days, all those nostalgic little clouds, all the mental imprints of both the games and the fandom around them started flooding back into my head. It’s a ridiculously corny song but at that moment it felt like I had just discovered some sort of hidden treasure that meant the world to me. I sat quietly there in the bus, stared through the window and during the space of that nearly four minutes I re-lived through those several years where the hedgehog and his friends had indeed meant the world to me.

That was definitely the one Sonic moment that’s had the most impact on me. And by proxy, I suppose that makes it my favourite moment too.

  10. Wow… there were so many great Sonic related moments for me…

But, I’d have to say one of the best moments would have to be having the entire Sonic game collection for the PS2, PS3, PSP, XBOX, XBOX 360, GameCube, Wii, GBA, and DS.

    Shoot, I don’t even have a PS3 yet. But when I do, Hoo… Boy!

And the best part is, my game collection will continue to grow, from the software to the downloadable content.

I made myself a vow, ever since missing out on the DreamCast when I was younger, and being reintroduced to the Hedgehog when I played on my friend’s GameCube, that I would never miss out on any Sonic game ever again. 🙂

It started with my PS2, and it continues with all the next gen consoles.

  11. My Favourite Sonic moment is the ending from Sonic Adventure 2.
It’s the only ending in the Sonic franchise that evokes a sad feeling. Shadow fell towards the planet (but we all know he didn’t die, but then we thought he did) and Sonic’s reaction by telling the others that he didn’t make it, really made me sad. And just to put the cherry on top, the others start talking with each between themselves, even Eggman, about whether Shadow was a weapon or not.
It’s a true piece of cinematic history in the series that both Sonic the Hedgehog 2006 and Sonic Unleashed tried to replicate but didn’t catch the shock and awe of Sonic Adventure 2.

  12. *Looks up after writing a small short story and playing some Sawnik*

Wow, it’s worldwide? You dudes DO rock!

  13. My favourite Sonic memory has to be Sonic Adventure and beating the game by myself. I was 8 when the game was released and I was already a huge Sonic fan thanks to the Mega Drive titles but I had never managed to beat the classics on my own. I had to get my Dad to help me when we got to the close to the end of the game.
It took me a few weeks but I eventually unlocked the final story and got to Perfect Chaos. I was so stressed but after around half an hour, I had defeated the boss and completed the game and I felt awesome.
Looking back on it, it wasn’t the best game ever, thanks to loads of glitches scattered through out the game but Adventure ust made me fall in love with Sonic more and I’ll always have great memories of that game no matter what happens in the series.

  14. My favourite Sonic memory involved going to the cinema with my friends to watch a new film. While waiting we noticed a long queue had formed elsewhere, and to our surprise, it was a queue to play Sonic Adventure. Other than two Japanese promotional trailers I’d seen online, this was the first time I’d seen any real footage of the actual game. I queued up to play both Sky Chase Act 2 and Emerald Coast, and was blown away by the graphics and gameplay, but most of all the fact that Sonic had a voice! I was at the cinema for hours, but I never watched a film while I was there 🙂

  15. One memory I have that always annoyed my sister:

I used to play as Sonic and she always played as Tails (on the 1-play mode) on Sonic 2 (Mega Drive).

I began to learn the half-pipe special stages – where the rings would be, where the bombs would be, and in doing so, I could be Super Sonic by Chemical Plant Act 1.

On doing so, this then meant that I would leave Tails behind meaning that she didn’t get much to play.

I feel bad about it now though as she’s not into the Sonic franchise as much as I am. Oops!

  16. My favourite Sonic moment sincerly was in Sonic Adventure 1 for Dreamcast. I was nearly 8 yo, It was easter in the morning, and my mother woke me up and told me: “There’s a bis easter egg for you” .

My brother had bought the dreamcast the day before, and when I entered in the living room I found a big Television with the spectacular intro of Sonic Adventure playing, and with the console covered with a piece of paper. I still have a video recording of that moment (filmed by my brother), and when I see myself saying “Sonic Adventure!!” with my mouth opened for the surprise I think how I love Sonic the Hedgehog and how an apparently childish feeling like this can make you have a good remember of your childhood. I remember I was about to cry (even now that I’m talking).
With Sonic Adventure 2 I had a similar situation (always thanks to my brother), but the first one is one thing that I will never forget.

Today they always tend to criticize videogames, but few people know how much they can give you. Sonic gave me emotions, I grew with him all this time, and he will always be a part of me. thanks to him (and Shenmue I admit) I learned english too.

now he’s 19, and he’s just more than a videogame to me, no matter what. SEGA, don’t mess it up with him
    Happy Birthday pal

  17. My favourite Sonic moment was in Tidal Tempest present in Sonic CD (American version) with the music wich says ” ah dadadouuuu, ah dadadoouuu, dadadouuuu yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah, ah dadadouuuuuuu, ah dadadoouuuuu ……(8) 😀
I loved so much this music that when I played, I losed because time was over!!!

More recently, I drooled in front of a Sonic 4 video and I said: Halelujah! God heard me!! A Sonic in 2D as Sonic the Hedgehog on Megadrive!

  18. My favourite Sonic moment has to be in Sonic Adventure one, right near the very start. This was a few years back actually, as this was on the Dreamcast, I was around 6 or 5. After the Chaos boss and cut scene, the part where Sonic is sunbathing and notices Tails in his plane, “Huh? Tails? Watch out! Your gonna crash! AAHH!” I laughed so much at his expression, his spikes popped up like he just went and slapped the Van de Graaff generator, “Tails, what am I gonna do with you” *delayed shrug*

Infact, today I might just go find my dreamcast and set it up just to play it again, yeah we have Sonic Adventure DX, but I love the small chibi-ish Dreamcast models. Sonic will never be too slow for me, just hope he doesn’t die off anytime soon, keep into his 20’s!

Even though he’s been around 19 year’s, nothing has changed in how much Sonic is my favourite video game character, Happy Birthday Olgilvie Maurice Hedgehog (hehehe) Sonic The Hedgehog

  19. (to add to the earlier comment…)

Favourite gaming moment has to be seeing a friend of ours playing Sonic 1 on the Master System and then playing it myself for the first time. The game still holds a place in my heart as being one of the greatest Sonic games there are. The Sonic Rush series bring back the Master System and Mega Drive excitement for me. 🙂

Community wise, meeting everyone in London for Video Games Live (second in London) and then the Summer of Sonic (2008). With all the arguing over black eyes, green eyes, voices etc, it was magical to think that all the differences were put aside for the one day and that we all got on well meeting each other. I’ll never forget hearing TJ Davis live. Even all these years after Sonic R, her voices still makes the hairs on the back on my neck tingle! I feel the same as Tru in that I wouldn’t have met anyone had it not have been for the VGL and Sonic meet-ups.

I’m now poor after merch hunting! I don’t have as many merch items as the merch king himself (T) but I have a few that remind me of past events, including the Olympics pre-play, Summer of Sonic, going up to Scotland to stay with JJ4eva / JayZeach and things I’ve picked up along the way.

Sonic music has been a joy to listen to and to recreate using a number of instruments I have at home. While the games have been difficult and awkward, (I blame my failings at 3D games rather than the games themselves), the music has always been tip-top, especially with Jun Senoue / Crush 40, Richard Jacques and Tomoya Ohtani on board. I still play Mystic Cave on my bass guitar, Starlight Zone, Scrap Brain Zone (MS) and Casino Night Zone on my (electro-)acoustic guitars. I’ve just learned the Apotos Day Hub music on my treble recorder! (You can hear some my tracks on my HedgehogRemix special show over at RadioSEGA.net)

Sonic will always be an important part of my life. Here’s to another 19 years!

  20. Seeing as I can’t quite decide on one moment and one moment alone, I’m going to list a few different things broken down into categories.

    FAVOURITE SONIC GAME MOMENT
There have been so many great moments in Sonic games but the one that really stands out for me is the scene in Sonic Adventure 2 where Sonic plans to trick Eggman with a fake Emerald but it backfires and he ends up trapped in an exploding capsule and blasted off into space. It was a real turning point in the whole Sonic saga – up until now things had been relatively light-hearted and easy-going for the blue blur, but suddenly shit got real. And having become attached to Sonic over the years (Mario aside he’s my favourite videogame character of all time), I was understandably screaming “NOOOOOOO!” and blubbering like Amy Rose when the capsule was blasted into smithereens. I just couldn’t believe it. Kudos to whoever wrote that scene – you brilliant bastard, you.

    FAVOURITE SONIC ANNOUNCEMENT
Oddly enough my favourite Sonic-related announcement isn’t actually for a Sonic game. I of course refer to the unexpected and internet-destroying revelation that Sonic would be in Super Smash Bros Brawl. Yes, it had been rumoured, but no one – least of all me – saw it coming. I remember getting in after a rough day at school, feeling a bit glum, turning on the ol’ computer to cheer myself up a bit… and there it was. The words “Warning! Challenger Approaching!” jumping out at me from the screen. Below them, the familiar face of a blue teenage hedgehog, smiling and posing with a thumbs-up. I was speechless. But it got better. “Sonic the Hedgehog Joins the Brawl”. Live and Learn. SUPER SONIC. This was a dream come true. I was on a real high for the rest of the day (and likely many a day after that). Sonic in Brawl will go down in history as my favourite ever videogame announcement.

    FAVOURITE SONIC TRADITION
Well, tradition of sorts. This has only just sprung to mind but it’s definitely worth a mention. Back when I was learning classical guitar on a regular basis (i.e. a few years ago), it just so happened that on a couple of occasions when I had an exam for it, it conveniently seemed to coincide with the release of a Sonic Advance game (the first two games, definitely – can’t remember about the third). Anyway, my mum would usually get me something if I did well in the exam as a way of congratulations, in those cases Sonic Advance 1/2/possibly 3. So it kind of felt like a bit of a tradition after the second time, seeing as it was such a coincidence that the exams and games kept coming around the same time as each other. But y’know what, it got me to practice knowing a brand new Sonic game would potentially be in it for me at the end – and I passed, not too shabbily either!

So there’s my happy hedgehog moments. I hope they made for somewhat interesting reading.

  21. One moment eh? Let’s see…

Nothing can top booting up Sonic Compilation on the Mega Drive for the first time and witnessing the glory that is Sonic 2’s Emerald Hill Zone. My eyes nearly popped out of their skull, I had a grin so big it hurt my face…too much Sonic goodness.

The music, the colours and everything about it made it the most perfect welcome to a videogame EVER.

  22. My favourite Sonic moment would have to be the jolt of ecstasy I feel whenever I hear the theme for the new Sonic game coming out for the first time. Sure, that’s several moments really, but they’re all under one category so it counts!

Although I guess my favourite Sonic moment in terms of what a Sonic character actually does is the epic scene in Sonic ’06 involving Shadow, time-manipulation, and a nice clean roundhouse kick to the back of Silver’s head. Made me cry of laughter and awesomeness.

  23. If only Pingas could count, but that’s more of a Robotnik moment.

Anyway, my favourite moment would have to be…
After thrashing Eggman in 2 of the Sonic MegaDrive games (2 and 3) after an intense fight to the end…Of the game…And you land in Super-Sonic form, or maybe just having a free-fall in your normal form, you just know that your faithful little friend will catch you on the wing of your Tornado (or whatever plane it was back then) and the music in the background helps boost a sense of accomplishment! Awww yeah…

Another funny moment would probably be some of the episodes of Adventures of Sonic me and my brother T-Bird watched a couple of times…Man Robotnik had some funny lines.
I can still remember ‘I always say if you can’t join ’em, BEAT EM!’.

  24. My favourite moment would have to be from Sonic 3 & Knuckles. The last boss fight playing as Knuckles against Mecha Sonic.

Getting captured by Egg Robo at the start and then having the camera pan over to the right to show Mecha Sonic stood there waiting for you. The whole boss fight is one of the most epic in any Sonic game in my opinion. The destruction of Egg Robo, thinking Mecha has been defeated only to spring back up, and the second phase of the battle, where Mecha Sonic uses the power of the Master Emerald to obtain a semi-super state. All of this whilst the Floating Island tilts dangerously in the distance due to the lack of energy from the missing Master Emerald. Incredible.

    Happy Birthday Sonic!

  25. Happy Birthday Sonic 🙂

I’ll keep it short. The first time I ever saw Sonic on Mega Drive was at a demo booth Sega set up at a local mall. I was so entranced by the movements, the colours and how big everything looked that my family threatened to leave without me.. which they did.
    So totally worth it.

  26. My best Sonic Moment is was the first time I completed Carnival Night Act 2 after 2 Years of not knowing what to do when you get to the barrel and I mostly give up. One time I was bored on YouTube that’s when I decided to type in the Act I was stuck on watched the first vid of how they completed with ease…looked at the comments to find out that all you had to do was press up and down quickly. When I realised it I was like…
    ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
    (Finished it now…but I’m stuck on Sandopolis…Act 2 XC)

  27. My favourite Sonic moment was when I was younger and my sister and I were being minded by our neighbours and they had a Megadrive with Sonic 2 on it and we used to have races with their kids who we made friends with. I always wanted to own the game myself, though I had a SNES.
I used to think Sonic was the coolest character to have ever existed and I still firmly hold that belief today.

I forgot about the franchise for a few years but I joined it again 3 years ago, immersing myself in the newer 3D games, downloading all the cutscenes, making loads of fanart and getting to know and love all the characters. I didn’t care about petty things such as voice acting and all that crap.
I was shocked at the amount of hate aimed towards Sonic, but I know there are some great fans out there too that I have had the pleasure of meeting and this site is a main staple for me too, it’s awesome 😀

Happy birthday Sonic! You’re awesome and you always will be to me!

  28. my best sonic moment was playing sonic 3 & knuckles finding all 7 chaos emeralds and then finding all 7 super emeralds and turning into hyper sonic, i was gobsmacked at such a transformation as this was befor the internet craze and i had no idea such a wonderfull thing could happen, to make it even more special this was done on the MD days when saving befor attempting a chaos emerald bonus stage wasnt possible it was all done on practice, trial & error and more practice.

  29. My favorite memory would have to be whenever I beat one of Sonic’s games. Whenever I kill the final boss, I celebrate like it’s Mardi Gras! Even a few months ago when I beat the final boss in Sonic Unleashed (which was actually hard for a change, usually they’re easy) and it was 11:00 PM and I was bouncing off the walls and jumping up and down on the bed! Another would have to be when my mother let me paint a Mural on my bedroom walls of all the Sonic characters together (My chao from SA2, the original characters, and even Elise) In Green Hill Zone.
I have a LOT of memories and these are just 2 of the many!

  30. my favorite moment was when Eggman say: JAJAJAJJA GOOD BYE SONIC, HAPPY ANIVERSARY!!!! in SonicAdventure2, it’s epic moment :’D

and when I played for first SA1 a 23 jun 1999, I will remember this day forever :’D

or when i discover that Sonic become in SuperSonic in Sonic 3 (i know that was in the sonic 2 but i started play since the sonic 3 :p)

  31. My favorite Sonic moment is probably actually being able to go to the old SEGA World in London when I was a kid (I’m from the states so just being in London was pretty cool). Seeing the huge Sonic statue in there. Even playing the SEGASonic the Hedgehog arcade game. You know the one with Mighty and Ray. I even still have a coin from the place! I still remember my mom not buying the Tails plush doll they had in the merch shop to go with the Sonic one I already had but she just bought me a sweater… I still resent her for it. lol

  32. *Thinks for a while*

I have to say that my best sonic related moment was back in 1996 years ago when i was 5 years old. It was the first time i was introduced to gaming and my nan had a Mega drive with Sonic 2 on it. It was quite an amazing experience playing my First EVER game. And i was glad it was a sonic game and not some game staring a stupid fat Italian plumber.

  33. One of my favorite hedgehog moments was finally getting past the “Barrel of Doom” in Carnival Night Zone in Sonic 3. I felt like I was on the top of the world. My mom was just glad that I had finally stopped complaining.

  34. My favourite hedgehog moment is definitely the day I became a Sonic The Hedgehog fan via Sonic Adventure 1. I remember watching The Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog on Disney Channel back in my childhood before it got cancelled long ago. But I was so young and apparently, my place does not dig SEGA’s lovely mascot. However, when my brothers and I finally get the chance to own a video game console, which is around the time Dreamcast debuted, that copy of Sonic Adventure on their shelf quickly caught my attention. So you can pretty much guess we chose the DC over PS1. Because we’ve only ever saw our elders playing Sonic 1 on their Megadrive and the fact that we never bother to read the back of a game case, all of us were shocked when we reached the character select screen (lol I can never forget our yells back then). Not only did we saw a lively-rendered Sonic the Hedgehog, we even get to look at the 4 new Sonic characters! That’s a lot for a Sonic newb ;D

Needless to say, the rest of that one game itself made me became a fan of something for the first time. My SA disc was already broken back in 2003 (God bless us rotten kids ;_;), but I’ll never forget all the good times from it, and all the magic of the game that made me the Sonic fan I am now.

Happy 19th Birthday and Long-live the legendary Blue Blur, Sonic the Hedgehog.

  35. my favourite moment has to be when i first put on my sega dreamcast with sonic adventure in it. there was the “sonic team” and then PRESENTED BY SEGA and then open your heart started to play with sonic in 3D i was in AWE i fell in love with that game

  36. My favourite Sonic moment was the day I got my Dreamcast, it was launch day, I skipped college to wait for my console to arrive and it did so late morning. I unpacked it carefully, set it up and treated my Sonic Adventure disc like it was the holy grail. Once I started the game up, I was simply amazed by the opening movie, I had never seen graphics that great, and crush 40’s Open your heart theme was a new and very appropriate way to go with Sonic music. Then I started playing, saw Sonic speak in a game for the first time and beat Chaos 0, only to be further amazed by Emerald coats beautiful scenery and the speed of this amazing 3D title. I played all day none stop, the best part being Ice Cap in 3D, as that was, and still is, my favourite 2D zone in any sonic game.
Of course I had ordered my console and game and neglected to buy a memory card, so after a day of playing, I lost all my data and had to go into town the next day to buy one, but it didn’t actually bother me because I ended up playing the game over so many times anyway. This game will always be special to me for many reasons, but mainly it made Sonic feel even more real to me. Thank you sega.

  37. My favorite Sonic moment was the first sonic game i ever owned: Sonic 2 Adventure Battle, where in the begining Sonic was being held in the helicopter and he took out everyone on board and jumped in style with only a piece of the helicopter as a sortof skateboard type thing. That hooked me on Sonic for the rest of my life! 😀

  38. Mine was … well the first time blasting off the screen because of my own skills and not because of speed booster.
In this moment I felt joy, accomplishment and adrenalin.
It made me stick to the franchise to this very day and I don’t regret one day of it.
Thank you Sonic you changed my life. You helped me through a lot of crisis and I sticked to you through your crisis.
Happy Birthday Sonic and you too, Eggman and Shadow.

  39. Memory #2.

Christmas ’97, and I’d gone shopping with my mum and dad to choose my next console. We arrived at Comet and headed straight for the games section. It was a choice between the Playstation, Saturn and N64, and I didn’t know anything about them. I played Lylat Wars and Crash Bandicoot, and then moved on to the Saturn. The playable game: Sonic Jam. At first it appeared to be a compilation of the old games, but returning to the title screen, I saw ‘Sonic’s World’.

I was speechless. Sonic… in 3D! Collecting rings and traversing around a 3D Green Hill Zone, then stumbling upon a building that let me watch Sonic videos, this was the console I wanted. My parents liked the look of the N64 and tried to persuade me towards that. I remember sulking as we left the shop. I got a Playstation instead of a Saturn that year, but it’s a memory that I’ll never forget.

    Memory #3.

I went to my local game store and browsed the Dreamcast games. I noticed a copy of Phantasy Star Online had a Sonic Adventure 2 trial included. I had no idea what PSO was, but I somehow managed to persuage my parents it was an amazing game and they bought it for me. I didn’t actually play PSO for a week as I was too busy abusing the SA2 demo. Ahhh, good memories.

For an in-game memory, the ending of Sonic Adventure 2. No, not the death of Shadow or the cutscenes that followed, but the message that was displayed after the credits – “A new day brings new adventure. But for now… Rest easy heroes”.

I went insane reading that. I knew that SEGA were having some financial difficulties, and after reading that I believed it to be Sonic’s last game. Luckily it wasn’t, but it really shocked me.

  40. my favorite sonic moment was when super sonic and gaia colosis beat perfict dark gaia.

Happy 19th sonic, I don’t care what the “people” say you are as good as you were in the genesis games. 🙂

  41. Mine was years ago, while reading an issue of Nintendo Power. I always had wanted to play Sonic Adventure/Sonic Adventure 2 but didn’t have a Dreamcast. Then I saw a screenshot of Sonic Adventure 2 Battle and it’s announcement for the Gamecube. I was so ecstatic and couldn’t wait for it. I decided right then and there what the name of my first Chao would be in anticipation. That Chao is still to this day my best and personal favorite Chao.

  42. Hmm… on of my favorite Sonic moments was probably when I won that Sonic plushie out of a claw machine.

One day I was walking past a random arcade in a store, and the claw machine had a Sonic plushie in it. I just had to win it, so I started chucking quarters into that machine like there was no tomorrow, but I couldn’t seem to get a grip on Sonic. I was about ready to give up. But then, on my VERY LAST QUARTER, I got him! Somehow I managed to snag him by the hand, pull him up, and win him! And that was how I got one of my first Sonic plushies. 🙂

  43. My favourite Sonic moment would hands down have to be the end of Sonic Adventure. Let me explain, it started the day I got my Dreamcast and was finally able to play Sonic Adventure. My only exposure to the game had been seeing the Japanese version of the scene after Sonic defeats Gamma, and even though I had no idea what was going on, I thought it was the coolest thing ever. Being finally able to play the game was amazing, the bad thing was I never had a memory card for about 6 months, and I could never be bothered to sit still long enough to do the whole game in a day. It never bored me though, I loved playing it every time. But finally I got memory card and was able to play it to finally get to Super Sonic, which was a great surprise. Playing as that all powerful being while the epic “Open Your Heart” was rockin’ out the soundtrack, remains my favourite moment of all video games (for that first time feeling) as well as my all time number one Sonic moment.

  44. sonic heroes is my 1st sonic game I’ve ever played,i liked how sonic, tails & knuckles use their team blast! favorite sonic moment is the epic ending of sonic adventure 2 battle shadow
another moment when chip sacrifice himself to save the world
and last moment when in sonic 3 & knuckles sonic turns hyper sonic & saves the day!!!
Happy Birthday Blue Blur keep on running!!!

  45. A moment that’ll probably stay with me forever is when I first got Sonic Adventure. I bought a Dreamcast and a bunch of games for £30. I was about 6 so it was the first thing I bought with my own hard-earned money, I was so proud 😛

When I played it the first couple of times I absolutely loved it, my first game, so fast and so pretty. But I could never get past the first 10 seconds of it. Why? Well it’s that bloomin’ first loop-dee-loop. Seeing as i’d never played Sonic before, my poor wee helpless little 6 year-old self didn’t understand that you had to HOLD the up button down. I kept trying to change direction to sort of accomidate the camera angle. And of course I always died.

But one day I came home, and my older sister told me she had completed that first level.
“I completed the level! You get Tails and then you get on a train!”
Somehow, I don’t quite know why. But somehow this was the best thing ever. Sonic getting on a train. Sonic running up that loop-dee-loop and getting on a train. A train. Blue. Hedhehog. Train.
“WOW” – was my reaction. I instantly went to see for myself the marvel. Which I think I then realised wasn’t as amazing as it sounded. But I’ll always remember that feeling of incredibly joy and suprise! It kinda makes me realise that the wanting is always better than the having as nothing could really beat my sparkling sun-shiney ideas that were exploding like fireworks in my head at that point. Sonic on a train, man… 🙂

  46. While everyone else’s moment is long, mine is pretty simple..

I remember from when I was little, I think Christmas morning, the room was shining a beautiful blinding white light reflecting off the snow. As I went to the Christmas Tree I turned on the TV and tuned into Sonic Underground and Sonic SatAM, how I loved those shows, I can’t remember if SatAM was a re-run. Anyways, when I decided to open my presents, the best one I got was a Sonic the hedgehog plushie

  47. Probably my favorite Sonic moment was the final battle with Shadow in SA2. It was the first Sonic game I’ve ever played and it still remains my favorite. Also, the line Sonic gives pretty much sums up why I like his games so much, “I’m just a guy that likes adventure!”

  48. My favourite memory of all had to be when I got back into Sonic games after years….

Basically, as a small child, like from the age of 3 to 5 I enjoyed playing the Sonic Megadrive games, never really owned my own console, as it was my brothers. When I was 5, I was moving and my big brother got rid of his megadrive, so I was sad. 🙁

Now over the years, I had played various games on other consoles as my mind was very open, and I wasn’t dedicated to gaming or any consoles, my brother was into the latest games and consoles. So over the years, primary school and playing with my friends had taken over my life and I played my friends and brothers games. 🙂

By the time the Gamecube came out, my brother got it, and at one point of his time owning it, he got “Sonic Mega Collection” at the time I was like “wow :O…..never knew Sonic was still around” as I had never saw any Sonic adverts for any games overtime of being a child, now keep in mind, this was about primary 7 now…

After that, my brother also bought Sonic Adventure 2: Battle for the Gamecube, and I was then amazed at the game, and at how the characters now talked :O
When he went out, I played the game, got right into it, and eventually got ahead of him, by then, I had truely fallen in-love with the game, but I had found out there were more Sonic titles and Sonic was still going strong, So, by first year of High School, I started small, by buying a Gameboy Advance SP, and as time went bought every Sonic game there was for the system.

As time went, I bought system after system, Sonic game after Sonic game, and had a brilliant collection, but it wasn’t enough, I wanted more Sonic!!! I even wanted to be like Sonic in every way!! That was, until I watched Sonic X and saw Chris dyke-face XD
I even took up guitar after watching Sonic Underground and got pretty good with that learning Sonic tunes. 🙂

Now, many games, merch and geeking out, I’m 17 and still enjoying the franchise :3

HAPPY 19TH BIRTHDAY SONIC!!! Don’t stop now ya speedy lil hog :’) <3

  49. my favourite moment was the first time i played a sonic game. it was sonc and knuckles for the genesis (mega drive) on a pc. i was so amazed the details of the game. since then i liked sonic and the others. metal sonic was my favourite aswell because he was cool, was a robot and many many other things about him which i can’t say. Also my favourite moment was sonic adventure 1 and 2. the 1st sonic adventures was good enough of sonic being in the human world and trying to fight chaos. i found 2 stages that were a remix of sonic 3 and knuckles. the 1st one was twinkle star zone. 1st thing about it was it was a boit like casino park zone in sonic 2 and if you hear a boit of the zone music it sounds a bit like seaside hill zone music. the 2nd one is the skydeck zone. the thing about it was it’s a bit like flying battery zone cuz i just know that those 2 stages are remix of sonic 3. plus ut had the knuckles fight again 🙂 like in sonic 3 and knuckles when they were in the temple and you know what (the fight) it was the same. easy, good and it was in a different place. so yeah thats what My favourite Sonic moment was, happy 19th birthday sonic and god save the queen (random moment) 😉

  50. I know that there are a lot of SATAM haters out there, but quite frankly, I maintain that of the four cartoons (not including the movie) us Sonic fans have been graced with, it was without a doubt the greatest. So my happiest hedgehog moment was the episode Ultra Sonic, where Sonic is reunited with his roboticised Uncle Chuck, who after having his memory temporarily restored, helps the Freedom Fighters to destroy an enormous energy crystal that Robotnik was planning to use as a power supply.

This was the first sign of Sonic’s family I’d ever gotten, and it was like seeing a whole different side to my favourite spiky blue hero. It was obvious in this episode just how much Sonic loved his Uncle, and it was incredibly touching to see their reunion. This episode also had a really sad ending, with Uncle Chuck reverting back to a mindless drone – I was almost as distraught as Sonic was when that happened. I had been a huge fan of Sonic ever since I first saw Sonic 1 on display in my local toy store, but this episode made my dedication to the blue blur that much stronger. It really brought home to me what Sonic was fighting for, and just how horrible Robotnik’s reign of evil was, and all the families that had been ripped apart by him.

(Anyone else miss how evil he used to be? The Eggman of today is a pussy compared to SATAM’s Robotnik. :P)

I hoped against hope that Sonic and Uncle Chuck would be reunited some day, but as the second season was never aired in Australia, for years and years, I had no idea if it ever happened. It wasn’t until I was in college that I finally managed to track down the second season on the internet and witnessed Uncle Chuck’s triumphant return. Tears of joy, I tell you. Tears. Of. Joy. :_)

If I had to choose a gaming moment, it would have to be when my best friend and I worked together as Sonic and Tails to beat the combined Sonic 3 & Knuckles game – it was the first Sonic game either of us had ever finished (mostly due to the level save function), and the level of whooping that came from playing as Hyper Sonic in the Doomsday Zone was really quite embarrassing!

  51. Well being born in 1995 you can’t exactly have memories of playing sonic games from the early 90’s unless you were pretty much born into a poor family like me. Being the youngest of 6 siblings (all sisters I’m the only boy) You can imagine my parents spoiled me like crazy, and well half of that’s true but my parents were tight on cash so it was a while until I got the Dreamcast so it gave me some time to familiarize myself with the classic sonic games and really make me a “classic” Sonic fan. Two years after the Dreamcast was released My parents surprised me with it on my birthday and along with it came Sonic Shuffle and Sonic Adventure. I think that has to be one of my happiest moments of the blue blur.

  52. My favorite moment’s not exactly from a game, but would have to be a project I did in middle school. In middle school all I did was talk about Sonic, and draw Sonic all over my assignments and tests. One day we had a big project where we needed to create a poster about safety during biology labs, and I chose to make mine like a comic strip, and Sonic and Shadow would be the ones demonstrating. The comic involved Shadow bursting into flames because he reached over the flame instead of around it, and Sonic just kind of staring. We also had to present it to the class, so my friend decided to play Sonic (because she didn’t want to run around like she was on fire), and I played Shadow. It was an interesting couple of minutes as I ran around the classroom pretending I had caught on fire, but I’m certain I got my point across. If you reach over a fire, your whole body will burst into flames.

  53. My favourite Sonic moment was in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Megadrive, in Casino night zone.
The music was so funny and I loved win rings when you get 3 JACKPOT!
But it was horrible when you get 3 Eggman !!! :@ :@

  54. My favourite Sonic memory is the first time I played Sonic 3 on a Mega Drive back in 1998.
It was simply a joy, I remember visiting a friend and he had this black box under his tv, at first I thought it was a CD Player or VHS Recorder (yeah, I was young ^^´). But then he asked me if I wanted to play a game on it because I was constantly staring at it, you have to know, not many kinds in my area had a console at home, I only had my Gameboy Pocket and thats was it.
He pulled out a Cartridge with a strange looking blue creature on the cover that looked like its going to jump at ya out of the cover. He popped it in and turned the power on, me as a kid who was only used to Gameboy graphics fell almost out of my chair (at the time I didn´t know about Playstation and co., I wasn´t allowed to watch much TV).
From the very first “SEEEGAAA!!!” scream to Sonic smashing the logo, to him being in this gigantic Ring waving his finger, I remember I was in a joyride type of mood.
He (the friend) told me to push the start button and select “no save”, and the blast began, I was constantly dying because I didn´t understand the concept behind the rings, so I did it like in all the Platformers I played in my Gameboy, I tried to avoid running into any enemy and tried to bounce em on the head. Later he told me how to use the rings, and suddently the game started to be a blast.
That´s why Sonic 3, to this day, is my favourite game and holds my favourite memory. Deeply encraved in my mind.
However, the very first time I saw Sonic was in 1995 in SatAM, but being very little back then, I forgot about that right after I saw a Episode of it, the Episode had a lot of Sally in it, maybe thats why I remember her instead of Sonic from back then. …Confusion! :/

Anyway, since that day I always wanted a Mega Drive with Sonic 3, but that dream didn´t come true until 2006. I generally always like to share special moments, even if I don´t win a thing, I got to read other peoples experiences and fond memories, so, I thought it would be a good thing to share mine. 🙂

Thanks for reading, hopefully my english wasn´t to unreadable! ^^´

  55. My best (and first) sonic memory was back on christmas in 1998. My dad bought me and my sisters our very first game console (the sega genesis) along with Sonic’s 1, 2 and 3. At the time, I was only five and didnt know how to control the games very well, I wasnt even able to say the name ‘sonic’ xD. So at first I watched my dad play a little bit of sonic 2 to see what the games were like.

When I first saw that little blue hedgehog and that silly two-tailed fox that could fly start running and doing loop-de-loops around that emerald hill stage, it was like love at first sight. I was in complete awe about how fast they could go and how everything blurred right past him. Then when my dad reached the first boss fight against Robotnik, I asked my dad “whos that fat guy in the helicopter?” he said “thats the guy who puts all the animals in the robots”. Then I looked at him and said “that meanie, beat him up!” lol

After he beat the boss battle, I wanted to play the game like my life depended on it. So I played emerald hill for my very first time. The feeling that you could control something that fast was unbelieveble. the first couple of times I played, I died but after awhile I managed to get through emerald hill and the boss, which was easier than I thought it would be. Than when I got to chemical plant, It was like a whole new game, everything was different, but it still made the game more amazing. after not being able to beat that stage, I decided to try out the other two sonic games, so next I tried Sonic 3.

The intro sequence to sonic’s story in that game amazed me. My jaw dropped I saw sonic jump off that plane, turn gold and started flying just above the water. It caught me off guard though when knuckles jumped out of the ground and hit sonic. I was all bummed that it made sonic turn blue again lol. I also wondered what those different colored stones where that knuckles gathered up, since at the time I didnt know whatt the chaos emeralds were. This game was truly different compared to sonic 2 the level designs were a COMPLETELY different experience compared to the checkered designs. I also really liked the music for some reason, It had a great sound to it (but then again, MJ was always good at his music lol). When I saw robotnik was in this game too, I thought “not the fat guy again” It was actually pretty hard for me to beat the first boss. I played the game until act 2 of hydrocity, then I tried out sonic 1.

Compared to sonic 2 & 3, this game seemed empty but at the same time just as fun. you couldnt run as fast as you could but you could roll as fast as you want. I got to the first boss battle until I lost. my head was so tired from playing for 3 and a half hours straight that I just calked it a day and let my sisters play if they wanted (they actually wernt that much imressed as I was with the games)

That is one day I’ll always remember. HAPPY 19th BIRTHDAY SONIC

  56. My favourite Sonic the Hedgehog moment was when I went to the “Sonic Spinball” ride in Alton Towers, when i was there I set my self a mission to win a sonic out of the claw machine, after spending about £10 i was about to give up, when, (this is where i felt that my life was complete) it actually didnt fall off the claw until it was meant to! i was so happy i think i may have cried. I made sure i got my picture with the statue, which is a picture i will save for the rest of my life, maybe even show my grandchildren in 2030 (i hope sonic is as awesome then as he is now) oh and also, the ride was awesome.

  57. My favourite Sonic memory was beating my brother on versus mode at Sonic Adventure 2. He was always so good and ALWAYS beat me, so finally toppling him off of his throne was a great feeling!

It was the race one, I was Shadow and he was Sonic. Awwwh, good times.

  58. My favorite sonic moment was when i snapped my sonic 06 blu ray disc in half due to sheer anger!

[LOL! That reminds me of spending nearly 3 days trying to get top rank on Crisis City…but I don’t think that’s my favourite moment! – T]

  59. My favourite Sonic was when my dad bought me a Sonic The Hedgehog 2 school bag. I was 5 years, now I´m 23 and I still keep the bag in my room.

  60. My favorite sonic moment has to be from Sonic OVA when sonic was fighting metal sonic.
    “Srange Isn’t it?!?” >8D. I have a whole lot more though 8).

  61. My favorite sonic moment was finally getting all 180 emblems in sonic adventure battle 2. Me and my best friend slaved over the game for almost a year until finally we got them all. The amount of depth, awesome level design, and pure fun is something that I miss in sonic games, and its what kept me coming back for more from SAB2. Playing green hill zone in 3d seemed so worth it at the time. ;D

  62. Mine would be the final battle in Sonic Heroes. Epic music, and an epic team blast to go with it.

  63. My favorite moment was when Sonic and Shadow went super together to fight the Final Hazard, and at the end when Sonic said goodbye to Shadow, because they finally became friends (although neither would admit it). Yep. My favorite game, my favorite moment!

  64. My favourite Sonic moment was playing Super Smash Bros Brawl and finally giving Mario what he had coming to him for 17 years

  65. My favourite moment had to be getting and then beating Sonic Adventure 2 for the first time. I started to like music because of this game and then in the final boss it played the most Awesome song. What a way to finish a game =)

  66. My favourite moment was meeting Sonic at SoS 2009, because I’m sure there’s nothing more heartwarming than seeing a 17-year-old smiling like a child and getting a photo with someone who licks Bentley Jones CDs on camera!

  67. My fondest sonic memory was when I was younger. Every new years eve I would did out the old sega genesis and play through as far as I possibly could, before the clock struck twelve, of all my old favorites (Sonic the hedgehog, Sonic 2, Sonic 3, and Sonic 3 with Knuckles). =D Hehe, that may be a tradition I really need to bring back. 😉

  68. My favourite Sonic moment…Jesus, there are so many…let’s see…

I guess it’s gotta be Christmas 2008, when I got my 360 and Sonic Next-Gen. I’d been waiting two years to play this…I put the disc in…and the damn thing’s in black-and-white. Turns out my TV’s only 50Hz. I had to use a different TV just to use my 360. Then about two hours in, having already died umpteen times, I got stuck on the ‘boss fight’ against Silver, and just thought, “…this is a sh*t game.” XD

  69. I remember when I saw Knuckles for the first time in Sonic 3, I thought he was a girl due to his hair and the fact that he wasn’t as red as he is nowadays.

  70. Usually I end up just reading posts and lurking in the shadows… but this contest about favorite Sonic moments is just too much fun to pass
    up.

I was always more of a Nintendo nerd in my youth, actively hating Sonic for a few years when the only channel around that would play the
Super Mario Bros. Super Show traded it out for SatAM Sonic. (Later I would realize that it was a faaaar better show, but that’s another story!)
However, a few quick demos of Sonic 3 at Wal-Mart convinced me that I had to give a Sonic game a try. Not having a Genesis, though, I was
quite limited as to my choices. One day, my father presented me with a copy of Sonic CD for the PC. I had my Sonic! Sure, it only ran in 256
color mode and was often glitchy, but it was all I could get and I was in heaven. “From the dark, to the light, it’s a SUPER SONIC FLIGHT, gotta
keep it goiiiinnnnnn…” I couldn’t help but sing along every time I started the game.
My favorite Sonic moment also happens to be the scariest Sonic moment I’ve ever had. Not even being stuck on the Carnival Night
bumper thing can compare! After months of play (and getting stuck in Wacky Workbench), I had finally made it to the boss of Stardust
Speedway Zone. I did a double-take when I saw Metal Sonic standing there waiting for me. The (rather creepy) boss music started, and I got
scared… there didn’t seem to be any way to attack Metal. And that’s when he took off. I stood there dumbfounded for a few moments, until
Robotnik’s lovely laser of death started firing. I panicked, I forgot the controls on the keyboard, and could only watch as Sonic was fried into
crispy hedgehog dust. At that moment, my monitor started flickering and a high-pitched whine came from the computer. Robotnik had done
more than just kill me… he was killing my computer! I quickly pressed the power button and shut the computer down. After letting it sit for a
few moments, I turned it back on… but the graphics were strange, with just a solid color background and colored stripes running down the
screen. I screamed and ran behind a wall, thinking that the computer was going to explode. I finally got up the courage to restart the
computer, but for the longest time I thought that Robotnik had cursed the machine and didn’t want me to win. For some reason, though, it
made me love Sonic even more. The years went by, and I didn’t have a problem with Sonic again…

Until Carnival Night, that is. Curse you, fairly obvious mechanical bouncing spinning thingy!

  71. My favourite moment has to be the time I went into a strange world where everything was electrical, I met a strange crocodile who kept screaming at me to find some sort of location housing electrical equipment, some sort of…….COMPUTER ROOM!

  72. I wish I had that many memories that I could share D: Hmmm..

It’s basic, but I’d say my favourite memory is when I first played Sonic 1 at a friend’s house. More specifically, I remember not having a clue what I was doing x3;; Sometimes the demo started on Marble Zone and the others were like, “hey, how did you get to that stage?!” No wonder, since we were 4 years old at the time, lol. I also remember Sonic’s finger wagging at the title screen, and us making fun of it. But more importantly the game, the graphics and the sound (especially the sound) were burned in my mind, making every time I play this game so nostalgic 🙂

  73. My favourite moment had to be when I finally got 100% in Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, it was so satisfying to play through Green Hill Zone in 3D

  74. The I realised somebody else already had that earlier lol
alright then, 2nd best one is 100% A ranks on Shadow the hedgehog, as that really was a game I’d never thought I’d complete.
The dialogue was great in that super hard mode, especially the Commander becoming and Grandfather and having to apologise to Shadow.

  75. The moment I remember best was when my parents got the Sega Genesis and Sonic 2. I played that game a lot. One day my younger sister accidentally pressed a button on the other controller which was plugged into the console as well and we discovered that Tails stopped following me. It didn’t take long after that to find out that someone could control Tails and that was a wonderful moment for me. It was the very first game I could play with someone else in my family cooperatively during the full game of any game. That made Sonic 2 one of the best games even to this day.

  76. my favorite sonic moment was finally getting to the end of sonic 2 finally beating metal sonic after so many tries only to have to fight eggman in a giant robot to lose to that also and realizing no matter how hard i tried to prevent the fight for some strange reason sonic just could not keep up with eggman to stop him from getting into the robot. good times good times.

  77. My best Sonic moment ever was on my 6th birthday when I got a Nintendo Gamecube and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle, my first Sonic game. That was my favorite game (In fact it still is!!!) Ever since then I loved the Sonic games and I liked it even more when I found out about the comics, so basically Sonic is the coolest gaming icon in my book. That was my biggest and best Sonic moment. Thanks for reading. Sonic, you’re the coolest in my book, Stay fast.

  78. My favourite Sonic moment was when after years of torture and frustration I finally figured out how to get past though red barrels in Carnival Night Zone in Sonic 3. I suffered for years at the hands of though horrid things and I finally did it, oh the joy I felt 😀

  79. I can think of two of the most memorable moments with the blue blur:

When I was about eight years old and the only sonic games I’d been desperately wanting Sonic Adventure 2: Battle and asked for it every day. Just as I thought I’d never get it, my Dad took me to Family Fun Night at my school. There was a kareoke booth that no one was doing, because you were heard over the loud speaker and practically to whole campus heard you. He looked at me and said, “If you go and sing “I’m Proud to be an American” at the kareoke thing, I will buy you that game you want. I didn’t think twice. I sang “I’m Proud to be an American” in front of everybody at my school for a Sonic game.

The other was when I finally got all the emblems on that very same game. That was a seven year journey full of memory card corruption and screaming at Crazy Gadget! Hahaha. SA2B is one of my most cherished games of all time. It never seems to get boring.

  80. My favorite memory of Sonic was when in 4th grade since i got good grades on my report card I was aloud to go to the mall and buy a dreamcast with Sonic Adventure. I was so excited i invited my friends over and we took turns playing it. I also had a sega genesis set up and a few of my friends played Sonic 3. That was such a fun night!

  81. My favorite Sonic moment is when I obtained all the emblems on Sonic Adventure DX. Finally, years of playing Sonic games had payed off! I never got to get all the emblems on my original Dreamcast version (my older brother sold it baaw), so it was a sweet accomplishment to be able to play as Metal Sonic and finally lay my ambitions to rest! ;___; Not since the days of Sonic 3 & Knuckles had a game made me want to unlock everything. I still look at all my emblems, nod my head and go ‘yeahhh :D’ Not a big achievement by any means, but it makes me feel all warm inside when I unlock every secret a game has to offer.

  82. My all time best memory with the blue blur? There have been alot.

But my all time favorite moment was with a friend, who had been stuck on the the final boss fight against Iblis on Silver’s story in Sonic 360 for ages and invited me round to help him do it. My friend could not figure out how to avoid Iblis’ final attack where he summons a huge fire ball and throws it at you which destroys your foothold and inevitably kills you. I simply tried using Silver’s psychokinesis to throw it back at him…. after an awkward silence of my friend looking at me in shock he shouted “no way!” and I walked off proudly and said “you idiot, you were stuck on that boss for weeks and all you had to do to complete it was hold the R trigger” XD

  83. lols i luv t-bagging flowers on GHZ in sonic 1 iz moar fun than halo and cock a doody rofl (lmao arby n cheef!!1)

*Ahem* In all seriousness, (but obviously not TOTAL seriousness, because that’s no fun at all) my favourite Sonic moment has got to be the first time that I completed Emerald Coast in under one minute and thirty seconds; my god, how fast I felt…

That was until I saw this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0vyTMYQkb0

    Soul-crushing. Absolutely soul-crushing.

  84. My favorite part of Shadow the Hedgehog was scraping my jaw off the floor when Shadow offered such gems as “DAMN, NOT… HERE….” and, of course, “WHERE’S THAT DAMN FOURTH CHAOS EMERALD.” I waited for an F-bomb the rest of the game, but never got one. Oh well. 😀

  85. Another favorite hedgehog moment: playing “Sonic Tag” at recess in my elementary school. I was Amy and my four other friends were Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Robotnik. Good times……

  86. My favourite Moment in the new gen of Sonic MUST be… uhh… wait, Does this have to be Next gen? I’t dosent? well then, this is easy! Back in Sonic 3, seeing knuckles for this first time *hums knuckles tune*… ahh… he was so bad ass… wait? a new gen one to? … I’ll get back to you on that…

  87. …When AAUK pit me against everybody else on All-Stars Racing. If you didn’t notice, I kept losing and losing… and still kept going. I was just having THAT much fun.

  88. My favorite Sonic moment is when I spoke to Jason Griffith and Mike Pollock, and they had a short but awesome conversation in their Sonic and Eggman voices:
    Eggman: “Sonic, I love you!”
Sonic: “Well I love you too Eggman, but we can’t get married!”

  89. Hmm.. this is a tough one.

Probably when I played Sonic Adventure for the first time in a Toys R Us. My reaction: “No way, I can’t believe this!”

Or when I went to the first Summer of Sonic convention wearing a modified Sonic hat to give myself quills, and looking like a complete prat at the same time.

There’s bound to be more, but those are stand-outs.

  90. Gotta be the day Sonic Heroes came out.

I was about 11 years old, and my family and I had yet to reach the Internet. A couple of weeks before it’s release I was at my grandparents house watching TV which had a weird program about new games, and they showed a clip of Sonic Heroes. I proceeded to go out of my mind in anticipation. Sonic, Tails AND Knuckles?! At the same time?!

3 days before SH-day I got a letter through the post from GAME with a very nice £5 off anything voucher inside. I remember pulling mum out of bed that morning so we could go into town early as possible. I had my trade-in card with some funds on, together with my £5 voucher and mum had the rest of the cash. We walked into Game and there it was, a big display of Sonic Heroes. I picked up the box and that shiny, embossed logo blew my mind. We took it up to the counter, and…

I played it for hours that day, and you know what? I loved every minute of it.

I saw Sonic 3D on the Megadrive at a second hand store when I was REALLY young. I really wanted it, but I didn’t have enough money. Mum told me that if I did all my homework for a week she’d buy it for me. I did, but after that week mum and dad sat me down and told me that it was gone when they got there. I was really upset and I went upstairs, just lying on my bed. Mum burst into the room shouting angrily “Go downstairs right now and clear up the mess you made!” Confused and almost crying because I didn’t know why she was shouting at me I rushed down the stairs. I opened the door to the living room, and they had set my Megadrive up to the TV with Sonic 3D in the catridge slot, pulled the Sofa round for me to sit on, and had it waiting on the title screen. I love my parents!

    Such good memories…

  91. I have many fun memories with Sonic, but one of the happiest was in art class. The teacher took a student at a time to tell you their scores.

When it was my turn. The teacher, and I went quickly through my pictures and he said he found it hard to put my scores because I was on the borderline between B and A. The teacher takes up one of my pictures which was a Christmas card with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Eggman, Shadow , Rouge, Chao, Hero Chao, evil chao and all seven Chaos Emeralds and my fan charakter!

He looks at the Christmas card and said to me. This image have you managed to get into so much detail that I decide to put an A. So I got top marks thanks to a Sonic picture that I had done. Sonic is my hero!

  92. My favorite Sonic moment was watching the CG intro of Sonic Adventure for the very first time, it’s pure epicness from start to finish, ‘nuf said.

Another moment was watching the Sonic OVA, seeing Sonic and Metal fighting each other is awsomeness! 😀

  93. My favourite Sonic moment was when I finally ‘finished’ Sonic 3+K – that is, I had three finished files for Sonic (one with all Super Emeralds, one with all Chaos Emeralds and one with no Emeralds), three for Knuckles (the same here) and two for Tails (as the Chaos Emeralds don’t do anything for him) – and realised that I still wanted to keep playing. The old titles are still the greatest: I love the game so much, I think I might move to the Mushroom Hill Zone!

That, and recognising that the European/Japanese soundtrack turns Sonic CD from a sucky game to an instant classic. I’m addicted. 😀 Oh, and the infamous ‘Sonic Sez’ line:

‘Kids, there’s nothing more cool than being hugged by someone you like. But if someone tries to touch you in a place or a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that’s no good!’

Genius. XD There are too many memories to pick from…

  94. My favorite Sonic moment was playing the Super Sonic storyline in Sonic Adventure. When Perfect Chaos opened his eye for the first time, I nearly crapped myself. Most epic boss in a 3D Sonic game!!

  95. My favorite Sonic moment….. gosh, I have to think..
My favorite moment was when I got my first Sonic Game on the Game Cube, which was Sonic Adventure 1. My parents were already Sonic fans, and they gave me that game to start. I had always been playing Mario, but it always seemed so boring….. then I played Sonic and a whole other gaming world opened. And I have been playing ever since. 🙂

  96. (If this counts, since it doesn’t really focus on Sonic himself)

One of my favourite memories that has something with Sonic to do has to be when I was a ”ultimate” Shadow fan. When Shadow the Hedgehog came out in 2005, I was so happy and excited, and it made me even a bigger Shadow fan. Shadow was simply my idol. I dyed my hair black with red highlights. I made my own handmade Shadow T-shirts. and I bought alot of Shadow plushies. But the absolutely best thing was this:

It was of course winter and very cold. (ShTH came out in november) I had my Shadow T-shirt on(Nothing else on my upper part of my body), my black and red hair, along with my mp3 player. I played the song ”I am all of me” on like the LOUDEST volume. I would walk like that outside school, and I thought I was so hardcore. My classmates would just stare at me. But the younger kids thought I was cool.

Haha, It’s so awesome so it gets embarrassing.
I’m not like that anymore, though. But it’s still a nice memory.

    Happy Birthday, Sonic. <3

  97. My favorite memory was probably the day when I realised that I loved Sonic from birth. When I was just an infant, my Mom would bottle-feed me in front of the TV. On Saturdays guess what was on ABC? That’s right SatAM. Then as I grew up I watched Adventures, and then I found the games, which to this day are still fun (Minus 06, and the Werehog levels of Unleashed). I love the blue blur, and I’ll be right there at the midnight launch of Kinect to get my hands on Free Riders!

  98. My favorite Sonic moment:
When i found out Sonic 06 was crap, cause i never have had PS3 and 360.

  99. My favorite Sonic moment would have to be back in 2000, when my family and I were driving to Florida for a vacation. We all were hungry, so we had to go get something to eat. We went to Denny’s. When we were leaving, I noticed they had Sonic and Knuckles plushes. I was so excited, I begged my mom to get one for me. That was my first Sonic plush, and my favorite toy. I still love it today, even though it’s totally filthy and falling apart. XD

Oh, and also playing Sonic 2 with my sister. We’d act like we were Sonic and Tails throughout the whole game. We made up a song for when we got to Sky Chase Zone, since that’s the last level with Tails. It was such a stupid song…. It was called High up, in the sky up. lol It made no sense at all. XD

  100. My favourite Sonic moment was when I played Sonic 3 on my birthday with my cousin, when I realized Sonic has awesome games. 😛

We always had a pile of GameCube games on a corner, from the games that we played daily, to the old, never opened ones. So, my cousin walked to the pile and began checking. “What do you want to play, b-day girl?” He asked, with boxes scattered everywhere. “I dunno…” I looked down and a colorful box catched my eye. “Why we don’t try this one?” I grabbed the box, opening it. “Sonic··· Mega Collection? Okay.”

We started to play, my cousin was Sonic and I was Tails (LOL). After a long time we got to Marble Garden Zone and he got angry because we could’nt pass. My mom just unplugged the GameCube to avoid a fight and we got sad. But she calmed down and let us play more.

And, on that day, we finished the game. :3 It was a great game.
After that we decided to check the videos and the images there .

The end. c: Excuse my lame english.

  101. my favorite sonic moment would have to be when me and my cousin would play sonic 3. I would be sonic and he would be tails and he would carry me through most of the levels. good times…good times.

  102. My favorite Sonic moment was in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, when I played the game so much that I went past 99 Lives and got a weird coded number for 100 lives and up. It just showed how much I loved that game.

  103. My favorite Sonic moment was that he was announced in SSBB as a playable, and made me very excited, by running around my school singing “His World” with such an exciting announcement, that this made me thank this game so much. and That was my most favorite moment for myself.

  104. My favourite Sonic moment was when I found out that princess Elise was an “animal lover (if you catch my drift)”

Really WTF IS RONG WIT HER!?

  105. I remember my first time buying Sonic 3D Blast for my Genesis. It was a great day because my mom told me I could get anything in Toys R Us. So I got a Buzz Light-year and Sonic 3D Blast. So when I got home I couldn’t put down the controller! I enjoyed that game more than my Buzz! And that’s how I got into Sonic until this day. And I always will!

  106. I think one of my favorite moments has to be during the one of the Episodes of Sonic X. Sonic, Chris and the rest of the gang all went on a cruise, and it absolutely drove Sonic NUTS because he hardly anywhere to run. lol He even went as far as to try to do a spin dash to get off the ship, or even mess with Amy’s heart. That’s a dangerous thing to mess with a girl’s heart, especially Amy’s. lol.

  107. My favorite Sonic-Related moment was when It was Announced that Sonic the Hedgehog is a playable in SSBB (Super Smash Bros. Brawl). I was very excited when i was at School, that i run around the Classroom, and Out of the Room, and was singing “His World”, and yelling “Sonic is in Super Smash Bros. Brawl!” to everyone caused that was a Very Exciting, and Surprising News that i really heard. It was one of awesomest sonic-related moments that i ever had for myself. Good Times.. 🙂

  108. My favorite Sonic moment is when I won a city contest for making a drawing of Sonic cleaning up the city(I didn’t get any reward, though…)!

  109. My favourite Sonic moment was the first time I unlocked Super Sonic at 5 (maybe 6) years old. I screamed ‘HE’S TURNED YELLOW!!’ at the top of my head in a moment of concentrated excitement.

  110. My favorite Sonic moment is when I bought Sonic’s UGC and being able to play Sonic 2 for the first time in a long time.

  111. I’ve just remembered another great moment with Sonic: Treating Amy nicely in Chronicles, and being rewarded with that nice little scene near the end.

“I guess I just wanted to know… do you like me too? Do you feel anything for me at all?”

“Definitely, Amy. I care for you a lot.”

    Thank you, Bioware!

  112. Hmmm….. My favorite Sonic moment…..

I would guess this moment would be was when I was really young. There was this event that I was taken to with my Babysitter (yes I was that young haha) near where I was living at the time. This event took place in a huge open field with food and drinks and so many people, especially other young children.

But of course, what grabbed my attention was two long rows of arcade looking cabinets, which all had a Genesis playing inside them. Wouldn’t you know it, they were all playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I had the pleasure of playing the first one beforehand, but only because my Babysitter owned a Genesis. Even though I remember only the first level being availiable I still had plenty of fun, one of my foundest memories of ever playing any videogame. Sonic was as fast as ever (especially when it came to the new streamlined-like design of Emerald Hill) and had a handy new spin dash function. Why he even had an orange double tailed sidekick following him around wherever he went now.

Isn’t it funny that only until a couple of years ago I realize that the event was all a part of Sonic 2 day? Well, to me it was. 😀

  113. Third Grade, 1993. My friend Ned and I had just gotten our Sonic toys from McDonalds Happy Meals (The one that is sonic in the fire and he shoots out when you hit the button). But Ned brought his to school the next day and the teacher took it away. We were both furious. At recess, we snuck back into the class room. We went for the teacher’s drawer, but the teacher came in with another teacher, so we hid under her desk. We heard the other teacher say a few swear words which shocked us, but eventually, they left to get their classes. We went into the drawer and freed Sonic. We ran out of the class room at super Sonic speed celebrating our victory.

…the teacher found out eventually and Ned got detention. He didn’t tell her that I was involved, what a pal. But Ned and I agreed, it was worth it for Sonic.

  114. Haha! Another one of my favorite moments was actually being able to hit the good doctor back in the first Sonic the Hedgehog. “Not grinning anymore, huh” is what I think after giving him the final blow as I see his ship “losing altitude” (hint, hint). Hohoho! Oh, how satisfying that was, especially for the fact that Dr. Robotnik would dare send me back to that dreadful Labyrinth Zone (or as they call it Scrap Brain Zone Act 3) before having my final battle with him. What a jerk… D:<

  115. I remember when I was four years old and I would wake up every morning to go on our old pc and I would play Sonic 3D Blast. I played the living day lights out of that game and I still love that game to this very day. Then I was stupid and let a friend borrow the game and I never got it back. It was my older brother’s game too so he was so ticked off at me. We bought the game again though and I started playing it a tons again. It is extremely funny though that the Sonic game that got me hooked on Sonic is one that people agree is one of the worst Sonic games ever made. Now Sonic, go run for another 19 years! 🙂

  116. (trying to repost this because Firefox made my earlier comment look horrific)
Usually I end up just reading posts and lurking in the shadows… but this contest about favorite Sonic moments is just too much fun to pass up.

I was always more of a Nintendo nerd in my youth, actively hating Sonic for a few years when the only channel around that would play the Super Mario Bros. Super Show traded it out for SatAM Sonic. (Later I would realize that it was a faaaar better show, but that’s another story!) However, a few quick demos of Sonic 3 at Wal-Mart convinced me that I had to give a Sonic game a try. Not having a Genesis, though, I was quite limited as to my choices. One day, my father presented me with a copy of Sonic CD for the PC. I had my Sonic! Sure, it only ran in 256 color mode and was often glitchy, but it was all I could get and I was in heaven. “From the dark, to the light, it’s a SUPER SONIC FLIGHT, gotta keep it goiiiinnnnnn…” I couldn’t help but sing along every time I started the game.

My favorite Sonic moment also happens to be the scariest Sonic moment I’ve ever had. Not even being stuck on the Carnival Night bumper thing can compare! After months of play (and getting stuck in Wacky Workbench), I had finally made it to the boss of Stardust Speedway Zone. I did a double-take when I saw Metal Sonic standing there waiting for me. The (rather creepy) boss music started, and I got scared… there didn’t seem to be any way to attack Metal. And that’s when he took off. I stood there dumbfounded for a few moments, until Robotnik’s lovely laser of death started firing. I panicked, I forgot the controls on the keyboard, and could only watch as Sonic was fried into crispy hedgehog dust. At that moment, my monitor started flickering and a high-pitched whine came from the computer. Robotnik had done more than just kill me… he was killing my computer! I quickly pressed the power button and shut the computer down. After letting it sit for a few moments, I turned it back on… but the graphics were strange, with just a solid color background and colored stripes running down the screen. I screamed and ran behind a wall, thinking that the computer was going to explode. I finally got up the courage to restart the computer, but for the longest time I thought that Robotnik had cursed the machine and didn’t want me to win. For some reason, though, it made me love Sonic even more. The years went by, and I didn’t have a problem with Sonic again…

Until Carnival Night, that is. Curse you, fairly obvious mechanical bouncing spinning thingy!

  117. My happiest Sonic moment ever was in 2008 when I finally fought Solaris Phase 2. I couldn’t get the game back in 2006 and I’d heard all the slander against the game. Yet I couldn’t believe any of it. Sonic games are always fun and decent. I had to put up with two years worth of hate on the game until I finally tried it myself. When I did, I had so much fun. Then I reached Solaris, the bit everyone said was good. The boss had me tingling all over and tears of joy splashing down my face for I was finally able to face the boss I had waited for. Sonic 06, you are underestimated in my eyes. Thank you so much Sonic Team…..

  118. What a question! I think one of my favorite moments was receiving my first Sonic the Hedgehog plushie. I received him on July 13th, 2005 at the age of 11, and he’s been known as “Little Buddy” ever since. He has heaps of sentimental value and is, by far, one of my most cherished items. I even kept order receipts as his “birth certificate”, haha. I was so happy when I first received him.

LB’s gotten a bit beat up since then; the wires that where in his arms to make him pose-able somehow retracted into his stomach, and the wires in his legs broke off from the rest. He also got attacked by my old cat, Silver. Got chomped square in the muzzle. Talk about an Iblis Trigger moment!

I don’t bring him everywhere I go anymore in fear of losing him, but this little plushie will always top any other Sonic item I have, or will ever receive. He’s just that awesome. 😉

    There’s the little acrobat now!

  119. I don’t qualify for the contest, so I’m doing this just for fun.

My favorite moments all happened this year!!

A.) I got Tracy Yardley to draw 6 pages of my fancomic!!
B.) I got to interview Takashi Iizuka.
C.) Not only that, I played Donkey Kong Country with him!!
D.) I got to go to E3, and play Sonic Colors and Sonic 4 before anyone else.
E.) Of course, the topper of them all was meeting both Yuji Naka and Iizuka at the same time and getting a picture with them!!

    What a year!!

[It’s definitely been your year Jason – and thanks for all of the coverage from E3 too – it’s been great! – T]

  120. The Best Moment of my life was when Sonic Came
into my life back in the 1990’s. Sonic Was Like my Best friend
when ever a new game came out i boughte it and Sonic took me on another amazing adventure.

My favorite game is Sonic Shuffel because, the train level is a real challange to try and stop the train from going over the cliff. There are many different things going on in this game, using cards, fighting battles, playing mini games, collecting precious stones trying to enter the next level – i never got bored.
    🙂

  121. My favourite moment… This is when I finaly got Sonic Adventure.

I can remember exactly that I worked the whole summer outside, doing harcore gardening things, cuting my hands, fingers and arms so many times but I never failed ’cause I always thought about the Dreamcast that I will be able to bought myself for my own birthday on September… I worked had to get the 1 690 francs plus Sonic Adventure and I was so excited when I saw the firsts advertisements on TV and thinking “30 days to go, 29 days to go…”.

When I finaly went to see my friend who, at the time, worked at a now closed video games store, bought the DC and the game and launched it… It was probably one of the only time that I just fixed the TV, eyes full opened and legs kneeled just thinking “OMFG ! THIS IS AWESOME ! SONIC IN CGI, AWESOME SONG, ROBOTNIK’S NEW LOOK AND FANTASTIC FLYING FORTRESS !” and all. This cutscene just made me freezing for minuts before finaly pushing start button and beginning what I always considering the best Sonic adventure right after the Sonic 3 & Knuckles one.

Definitely, 23th of September 1999 was the day when I knew that Sonic will still be in my TOP 10 video game favourite saga in the 3D era, something I was afraid about.

  122. Ah, my favorite moment is, surprisingly, not in Unleashed or Shadow the Hedgehog.

My favorite memory is the first fight between Shadow and Sonic, or more specifically, the words exchanged. It really showed off Shadow’s sarcasm, and made Sonic angry 🙂

    “I found you faker!”
“Faker? I think you’re the fake one around here. You’re comparing yourself to me? Ha! You’re not even good enough to be my fake!”
“I’ll make you eat those words!”

And then you get launched into a really easy boss fight 🙂 It was the second fight that gave me trouble >.<

  123. Another one of my favorite moments was in 1994
I was in Best Buy and they has the demo for Sonic & Knuckles. Then in 1996 I played the demo for Sonic 3D Blast there.

  124. My favorite moment has to be when I was 6 or 7 renting sonic adventure dx from price chopper almost everyday. I never got to the final boss until my mom reluctantly bought it for me when I was like 8 or 9. I played as sonic and tails the most and I NEVER played as Big because it was hard for me. My favorite part when I was little though was the chao garden because they were soooo cute and I even cried when one of them died. I also loved to explore the hub world and run around as the characters and make up stories for them to do.

Another moment that happend around the same time period was when my family went to NJ and I won sonic, tails, and knuckles plushes. Tails was smaller than sonic and knuckles so I had a hissy fit. On the last day I was sad because I only had to get shadow, but we had to leave. I also liked the last day too because I ate breakfast with knuckles.

Sega thank you for creating Sonic because if it weren’t for Sonic I’d be very depressed. Happy 19th birthday and long live the hedgehog. – River

  125. One of my best memory about Sonic is when I used to play Sonic 2 with my brother. you couldn’t save the game, so I always wanted to play as Super Sonic, but i was 5-7 yo, and it was very difficult for me to complete the extra levels. So I let my brother do the final chaos emeralds levels while I had written in a paper the direction of the rings and the bombs, so my brother could easily beat the levels with my suggestions

I used to never turn off the Megadrive after gaining Super Sonic, it almost exploded!! It was continuously turned on for weeks

THE WOR…eeeeeeehm BEST moment was actually THIS:

THE FIRST TIME I GAINED SUPER SONIC BY MYSELF (with huge fatigue), I finished a level with Super Sonic. after jumping on the egg-shaped flickies jail, you know, Super Sonic become normal no matter what…so, what happened?? I managed to jump again and Sonic did the transforming animation, and then started the running animation in air without moving. I had no longer the control of Sonic and the game FREEZED and CRUSHED. I went crying to my brother and din’t play Sonic 2 for 1 month -_-…

  126. My favorite sonic moment would have to be playing Blaze in Sonic Rush for the first time and the thrill I got that there was finally a Sonic heroine that wasn’t a stalker or a slut. To add to it, she shot fire out of her hands and was my favorite color! How cool was that!

  127. I can’t share my Sonic memories from the classic games since it’ll be generic as the rest, BUT my favorite Sonic memory was the first time playing Sonic Adventure 2 on the Dreamcast with my cousin. The first encounter of Shadow the Hedgehog, singing Escape from the City for the first time, my cousin making a custom rap song in one of Tails stages while playing at the same time, ghost popping walls to water and almost pooping out of my own pants. Last but not least, my cousin and I took turns and finish Last Story. After what happened to Shadow in the end, I almost nearly cried because of his noble sacrfice.

    That is all.

  128. My favourite moment had to be When I found out Sonic was in Brawl I Jizzed all over the coumputer’s monitor. Then there was the time I went to SEGA of America to play Sonic: ASR I felt like 5 years old when I was in the lobby.

  129. OK, I know I already posted a couple of times, but I really wanted to get a touching one in here.

I remember back when I was 5, I used to play Sonic with my brother sometimes on the computer. When we got a Dreamcast for Christmas that year, it came with Sonic Adventure. We played like crazy). My mom had also gotten me an adorable Chao plushie. I took it everywhere with me. To the store, to school… you get the picture. The things been through so much over 10 years (spilled maple syrup on it, eyes scratched, it’s filthy…) But I still love the lil guy to this day. 🙂

    http://twitpic.com/1zekl3

    Some other memories:
-The first time I beat Sonic Adventure 2. I was pretty sad. But happy, cause it’s the first Sonic game I beat all on my own.
-Playing Sonic Rivals with my 2 brothers on long vacation car rides. Then my little brother getting mad because he bet a rare card he only had one of and I won so he cried.
-Spending what seemed like days straight playing Sonic and Knuckles Collection (PC versions of S3, S&K, and S2). And Sonic 3D Blast. GREAT GAME NO MATTER WHAT ANYONE SAYS.
-Getting way excited for Unleashed, because it was the first “major game” that I actually felt like part of the community.

OK wayyy too long I’ll wrap this up now. 🙂

  130. My favorite Sonic moment is hard to bring to words…there are so many. But I think I have to go with my most recent, most memorable Sonic game moment. It was the conclusion to Sonic Unleashed, fighting the Egg Dragoon as the werehog. There’s nothing more epic than falling toward the center of the planet in a heated battle of two long-time enemies. 🙂 That really made me feel like the real rivalry between Sonic and Eggman returned to a fever pitch once again, and it was finally an ending where Eggman didn’t go over to the good side to defeat the larger enemy. But that entire fight is my most recent favorite Sonic moment, and one that still burns brightly in my mind. 😀 Happy 19th, Sonic!

  131. Okay, so I was at Comic-Con San Diego a couple of years back, and being a Sonic fan, I wanted to find some artists! Surely there must be someone here who has worked on the Sonic games or comics! Well, that turned out to be much harder a quest than I thought. I went to the gaming booth (mostly Final Fantasy stuff), went down all of artist’s alley, and did a general sweep of the convention floor, and I spotted nothing. Feeling slightly dejected, I decided to turn my eyes to different pursuits. I saw a booth for Antarctic Press and, since I have a how-to-draw book by them, decided to check it out. So I walk up to the table and see all of these cool pirates and ninja shirts. The guy running the booth noticed me, and we started talking about the shirts and how I thought ninjas were the bomb and stuff. He was such a charming guy, and after a little banter, he noticed and commented on the Sonic shirt I was wearing. I told him the store I bought it at, and he thought it was cool. Then at the last minute, he made a short comment on the fact that the artists sitting there next to him had drawn a few Sonic X comics. My jaw dropped at this and, to make this long story slightly shorter, I now have a Sonic shirt autographed by a Sonic X artist. Gotta love chance encounters!

  132. ANOTHER favorite hedgehog moment 🙂 Me and my brother would wake up super early (4 or 5 AM) in the summertime just to play Sonic Adventure. We’d eat frosted flakes while singing along to “Open Your Heart” and fight over our chao. Then our parents would walk downstairs a couple hours later and ground us, but man was it worth it 😀

  133. Oh, there is one other moment…

My other favorite Sonic moment was logging onto Sonic Stadium and seeing the leaks for Sonic Unleashed, specifically the image of Sonic and Werehog. OH MY GOSH I don’t think anyone can relate to how much I flipped out that night, I nearly hyperventilated. I seriously couldn’t sleep, all that was going on in my mind was “Werewolf Sonic. Werewolf Sonic. Werewolf Sonic. Werewolf Sonic. Werewolf Sonic. Werewolf Sonic. Werewolf Sonic! Werewolf Sonic!!”

  134. Probably the favorite moment I have was from Sonic 2 for the Genesis, when I finally was able to beat the end of Chemical Plant 2, and actually play the rest of the game. (I was pretty young back then, so it was a huge accomplishment at the time)

  135. A memory…
Getting to Death Egg in sonic 2 when I was 5 years old and not being able to beat it until 10 years later.
    haha. =)

  136. Well, I grew up watching AoStH on tv. I think that was before I even played the games, but it was one of my favorite shows nonetheless. My favorite memory of that was from the one where Grounder became a genius and just when it seemed there was nothing Sonic could do to stop the formerly harmless enemy from striking him with lightening, Scratch came in and bungled things up by trying to help. He knocked Grounders head off and as it was flying away Grounder said something about even the smartest man in the world would never have anticipated Scratch’s help. Then Sonic blew everyone up with the lightening. I recorded that one and watched it all the time.

Then there was also the first time I beat The Doomsday Zone from Sonic 3 & Knuckles a good 3 or so years after I got it. It was such a sweet victory finally beating Buttnik with his own missles and actually having enough rings left to keep playing after I had been stuck on that level for about a year (the other 2 years I had the game I was stuck on that damn barrel from Casino Night Zone).

Yet surpassing even those, my most memorable moment with the blue dude with the ‘tude was oddly enough about a game where he was only a guest character. I had seen the first trailer for Super Smash Bros. Brawl at least a good year prior to the first updates that went on at the Dojo, and ever since I saw Snake pop out from under his box in that trailer I had waited on pins and needles for Sonic to be announced as a second guest fighter. Finally, one night I was waiting up for the newest midnight update at the GameFAQs board for the game when the board exploded with topics saying that at an event that had been going on (e3? I can’t quite remember what it was honestly) there was a trailer that ended with Sonic being revealed. No one had any proof about it aside from one blog that claimed to be there mentioning it and that could have easilly been faked, but still, if it was a hoax it was one of the better ones to happen to the board in a long time. The next couple of hours were some of the longest in my life, but finally when the site updated lo and behold there was Sonic the Hedgehog and a trailer playing Live and Learn announcing him. I’m not using hyperbole at all when I say that I was more excited that I had ever been before (sad as that may seem). I literally danced with joy. And as icing on the cake when I got back to the GameFAQs board there were literally over 9000 topics. I laughed, stole a few screenshots from the video for my new desktop wallpaper, and went to bed counting the moments until I’d get to beat the snot out of that portly plumber with my favorite hedgehog.

  137. Seeing as my entry didn’t seem to come up, I’ll try again.

Getting my mom to complete City Escape on SA2. Damn that truck.

  138. My favorites:
    1. Finally clearing Hydrocity on Sonic 3 after years of frustration. GOD, I hated that stage.
    2. Listening to “Super Sonic Racing” on Sonic R (I LIKE IT!) for the first time. To this day this song is imprinted into my mind.
    3. Staying up late with my cousin watching AoSTH on the ol’ Toon Disney and singing along to the theme song.
    4. Watching Sonic Flip Mecha-Robotnik off in the movie. that made me laugh so hard. Also from this move, “STRANGE, ISN’T IT!?”

  139. My favouite Sonic Moment, heh easy.

I remember when I was younger, and I first heard about Sonic 3 and knuckles, I was shock to hear that there was more after Sonic 2! Heh, I always had to sneak by my parents to play it the amount I did back then!
Then later on, my friend use to play as tails, since he liked the game but like having the ability to be Tails and never lose rings, plus the flying power he had in Sonic 3 and knuckles.

What I laugh is that when we were at the semi last boss where Dr. Robotnick fires the Master emerald we found out that it was best to switch our partners. So, here I was playing as Tails and him as Sonic, yet… strangely once we did that, we were able to defeated it… haha it makes no sense now, but I chuckle every now and then when I fight that boss.
OH and the excitement that came when later on I made it to the true Final Boss in the game, we went crazy!

Sonic 3 and Knuckles had good childhood memories on me! 🙂

  140. ( I don’t want to wait for moderation for over a day :c)

    Happy late Birthday, Sonic. <3

  141. Oh man. I think my favorite moment was, after 6 frikkin’ long years, finally getting Green Hill Zone in Sonic Adventure 2. I did it legit, and it took so blinkin’ long… but I did it, and it was the greatest victory ever. I almost cried a bit at my amazing victory. Still have that file; never gonna erase it.

Still play from time to time, but I can’t get anything other than a bladdy C rank on GHZ! Drats! And here I thought I was epic!

  142. My most treasured Sonic moment is not really game related, but still about the blue blur… Growing up in the late 1990 there really was a dry spell of Sonic toys and action figures (and games for that matter), sure I had some of the games and I bought the comic books but what I really wanted was a Sonic action figure. Then my dreams came true when I went into a shop called “Forbidden Planet” and saw a Sonic Adventure line of action figures. I begged my Mum to get it as a early Birthday present and she did 🙂 Man me and that toy where inseparable, I played with kit so much the leg fell off and I had to glue it back on lol 😀

  143. This makes me feel old, but my favorite memory is from Sonic Adventure, and is Gamma’s ending. I think that’s the only time I’ve cried at a game ^^;
I loved that guy! Why did SEGA have to kill him, only to replace him with that loathsome copy, Omega?

  144. Okay, proper entry, hopefully I haven’t missed it (When IS 12pm anyway?!).

So many memories, but I’ll go with the first one.

I wasn’t really a gamer, I had played on a Gameboy before, but wasn’t interested. I lived within a fairly poor neighbourhood, and when a family of three boys moved in across the road, my mother and I went over to help them settle in. I didn’t really have many friends at the time, and the boys had a Master System with Sonic the Hedgehog. Over the coming weeks I went over regularly as they let me play on Sonic, the boy’s mother didn’t mind me visiting so often; I think I became like the daughter she never had!

As time went on, we all became friends and I started to become really interested in games, especially Sonic the Hedgehog. I learnt from these boys that the MegaDrive existed, with a better version of Sonic. One day my school had a fair, and this kid had brought in his MegaDrive with Sonic on, allowing people to play Green Hill Act 1 for 10p. If you could complete the stage, you won your 10p back. I guess 10p was actually worth something back then 😀

Now, all I had known of Sonic was the Master System version. If you can compare the two, you’ll know how graphically superior Sonic on the MegaDrive is, and I stood there, staring at it, my jaw just dropped. In all my years of gaming now, I have never been as impressed with a game, or their graphics even, as that time when I first saw Sonic 1.

I was given £1 pocket money every week, and spent it all trying to complete Green Hill. I was still young-ish, still new to games, didn’t really know what I was doing, but the moment I cleared Act 1, I felt like a revolution had already started in my brain and my future was set.

That Christmas I begged my parents to get me a MegaDrive, and my dad managed to blag a second hand MegaDrive with Sonic 1 and a bunch of other rubbish games, like The Little Mermaid, which I later sold for Sonic 2 haha. Ever since then, I was a gamer, and a crazy obsessed Sonic fan 😛 I used to salute Yuji Naka every time his name appeared on the game credits, good times!

  145. WOW!!! 111 comments – some great memories here folks – we’re gonna sit down and read them over a nice cup of tea and we’ll let you know the winners very soon!

    ====CONTEST CLOSED====

  146. I can’t remember my first Sonic game, but I think it was Sonic Advance…. I’ll try…

Back when I was.. er, about 5 or 6, my best friend had all the coolest stuff. Xbox, Gameboy Advance, and I loved going over to his house. One day he showed me Sonic Mega Collection+ for Xbox, and I flipped out. We played it, and I was forever hooked on Sonic. That was probably my greatest Sonic Moment. Ever.
After that, I was determined to buy a Gameboy Advance. I actually bidded for one on Ebay! I won it 😀
The first game I bought? Sonic Advance 3. After that, Sonic Battle. My friend and I hooked up our GBAs and played Sonic Advance 3 & Sonic Battle for several hours.

    Although…

I think when I really first experienced hedgehog love is one day I went over to the BSU in the town we live in. His Dad works there, and I came over to play with him( My friend, not his dad). They had an Xbox, an NES, and a SEGA Genesis, with Sonic 2,3, and 3D Blast. I immediantly put in Sonic 3 and sat down. My friend had to litterally unplug the game to make me get up.

    Newer days..

I had never experienced Saturn or Dreamcast(I was born not too long before Dreamcast released), so several months ago I went to Gamestop and bought Sonic Adventure. I was so happy when Super Sonic finally kicked Perfect Chaos’s butt. Now I just need 130 Emblems! XD

  147. My favorite and most memorable moments from Sonic are the opening Music video of Sonic Adventure. Shadow’s death and the final cutscenes in Sonic Adventure 2, Final Battle and cutscenes in Sonic Heroes. And all the dramatic parts of Sonic 2006, like Sonic’s death, because the music got so sad when everyone sees Sonic dead on the floor, very different for a Sonic game. All of those moments felt like a movie to me.

  148. Mine? I was three years old, and my dad carried this big box into our living room. I saw this alien looking machine with “16 bit” printed on it. It was a genisis, and my dad had bought it a few years before i was born to entertain himself after a sking accident. He plugged it in and popped in sonic 1, as I stared in awe. He handed me the controller, and I played, completly immersed in the game on my tv screen. The box also had sonic 2, some sports games, a taz game, and the co-op ms. pacman game. But the two sonic games were the most importent to me. It started me on a long road to true fanship complete with aosh, that sonic “movie” ,and *ugh* 2006. But i’ve stuck with him, and can’t wait for sonic 4 to take me back to those old days……

  149. Quick question. How will you send the prizes to the correct location? If you are using the mail/street adresses from the email adresses then the adress on my email is probably not my real mail adress… I hope that made sense.

  150. I know it’s closed and everything, but Sonic announcement for Brawl. That was epic.

    Oh, and Excalibur Sonic.

  151. My late entry.

My favorite moment was while I was running (I love to run so much) I took a huge a leap onto a tree landed on a slanted limb. I climbed feeling like I was climbing up a wall, that I was Espio’s accomplice and that he was right beside me. It seamed so real to me I almost cried with joy. Shortly after I fell about 15 feet or so on my stomach. (well I did enjoy it up until that part)

  152. C’mon, guys, be patient. Theses guys are busy with their own lives. They’ll get the results to us as soon as they can, so just chill out for the time being.

Weird, I’M telling people to be patient…

  153. Results will be announced tomorrow night at the latest. Apologies for the delay; busy does not even begin to describe my week.

  154. @ T-Bird

Awesome! I can’t wait to find out I didn’t win! (It’d be hilarious if I won something after saying that, of course, judging by the length of my entry, the amount of emotion, and the fact that I made fun of a game that I like but isn’t liked by the rest of the community… looks like I’ll get somewhere with it.)

  155. Hope I won, cause this Story was Emotionally True about what happen, That was an Awesome Thing. and I Love It :D.

  156. @ T-Bird

    ok i can wait
    i forgot to menchen
the thing about my favorite game it was also one of the best moments in the game
i hope im not confusing anyone lol
    i probably am lol

  157. @ SuperSonc100

    Yep! You’re right! I’m confused! X3

Anyway, if I do manage to win, I hope I end up with anything but the Sonic and the Black Knight toy (unless it’s the big one since my sisters dog chewed up Caliburn) the things I’ve got my fingers crossed for though are Sonic, Tails, and the T-Shirt. I’ve lost my Sonic th Hedgehog 2 shirt when I moved from my old house so I need a new Sonic shirt. Of course, I can’t really complain if I win anything since it’s free and I’ve never won a competition in my life. S&SASR would be kinda cool since I don’t own any racing games aside from Riders, R and to a lesser extent, the PS360 demos of ASR and to an even lesser extent Sonic Adventure 2, and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle.

  158. Looking forward to seeing who won. i hope i got something mine is funny true and i was happy when i broke the disc

  159. Also, is this british or american? if its british then i can stay awake if its american i wont be happy XD
