After bringing us some video helpings of Sonic Colours and Sonic Free Riders, Destructoid give us some footage of the Xbox Live Arcade version Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1. Shown in the footage is the Splash Hill Zone which SEGA informed before the event kicked off is the only level available in the E3 demo and in it we can see some of the few tweaks that have been added already such as momentum, speed and jump fixes. SEGA stated before the event kicked off that many more changes are to be made during development before release Late 2010.
On top of that, another media outlet Touch Arcade give us a look at the iPhone version which judging by the footage is looking as good and playing as well as the console version so portable gamers can’t go wrong with this version.
We’ll keep a look out for Sonic 4 media and post back here, for now debate away in the comments. Thanks to mickbyte for the heads up!
The game’s looking pretty good so far.
BTW, check this out Shadzter: http://games.ign.com/articles/109/1094418p1.html
IGN has nominated Sonic 4 Episode 1 for “Best platforming game of E3”.
I really love how you can play with the virtual d-pad and the accelerometer. I’d be playing with the d-pad of course (and after trying the first sonic game on my friends iPhone… well, let’s just say that’s why my iPod touch and next week, my iPhone 4, won’t be receiving any Sonic love until this game…
Does anyone know if Sonic has the barrier attack thing from Sonic 3 & Knuckles in this game? I haven’t seen it yet and I really loved that move.
This is making me want late 2010 come sooner!
@Edge
I think they replaced that with the homing attack instead
Did the player not even know the homing attack existed? Sheesh…
@The Man With Pants
Just because it’s nominated doesn’t mean it will win. After all, this is IGN we are talking about, here.
@SonicSilverSS
I know that it probably won’t win, but I was surprised that a Sonic game got nominated to begin with…and I think that means something; that Sonic might be getting one step closer to reliving his days of glory. He might still have a long way to go, but the series is getting there.
I’m really happy to see the improvements on the game. Finally some physic changes, but much more needs to be done. Keep at it SEGA and don’t disappoint!
Is anyone else just a TAD worried about what the guy is saying in the iphone video.
Talking about all these opening up the front gates or w.e and whatnot.
Looking better…
Funny how this guy doesn’t use the HA.
I was going to get this game for wiiware, but now im’a guuna get it fo’ ipod touch.
Ill probably get shot for this.. or does it look like they’ve over used the springs and boosters?
I don’t remember seeing a spring every 3 seconds in the older games… then again.. its been awhile
Man, I wish a demo would come out soon, but I suppose based on the alleged modifications they’re making, that won’t happen for months.
lol @ :20 of the XBLA footage.
You can see the Sonic Free Riders guy freaking out in the background.
🙂 NICE! But when demo comes to xbox live arcade?? And full game? Late 2010?? In holidays? 🙂
:))))) <*drokes his mouth* MUST-GET-SONIC-4! 😀 I can't wait anymore… *hits head to wall*
< LOL That man.. Sonic Free Riders guy.
Why is everyone poking fun at the Free Riders guy? That’s what YOU will have to do when you play the game as well! …Well, if you play it, that is…
Come on Sega, would it kill you guys to release the demo on XBLA?
Did you notice how the sunflower span when Sonic ran past it? XD
lol at the sonic riders guy in the back having a seizure
I hope you can turn into Super Sonic in the Stages again *_*
Retro sound effects make me happy 🙂
It’s somehow very irritating to watch people play a game that they suck at.
I think I paid more attention to the Sonic Free Riders guy than I did the actual gameplay footage. XP
