Why Wait? More “Locked” Sonic 4 Site Materials Leaking EVERYWHERE

More leakage from the Sonic 4 website, updated until someone locks the assets folder up:

Here’s some concept art (linked to its original URL):

Iizuka’s directing this game.  Yay?  There will eventually be a podcast where someone interviews him.

Here are the website’s sound effects:

BLING.  BOOM.  BOP.  CLICK.

Plus, another animation that’s left on the site.  This time, it’s Sonic’s “idle” animation!  Click the still image of the animation to be taken to it!

If the assets folder gets shut down, our friends at Sonic Retro have uploaded the SWF file to their site.  See the animation here.

Finally, here’s Sonic running animation.  Click it for a larger view:

It’s a fuckin’ party at Sonic Stadium.  I’ll keep updating this post when more stuff gets leaked.

UPDATE: The assets folder is still alive, but it has been locked down.  Fun’s over.

The Sonic Stadium may link to retailers and earn a small commission on purchases made from users who click those links. These links will only appear in articles related to the product, in an unobtrusive manner, and do not influence our editorial decisions in any way.

  1. The running animation looks retarded. Otherwise I like the game. And Sega is web-retarded. This is hilarious.

  2. Did anyone else notice this in the Ken Balough Q&A:

“GS: Is this where the Sonic franchise is moving, or can we still expect to see console and portable titles?

KB: Sonic as a brand is definitely not moving away from our packaged console versions. Making Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I for download is just a new way to offer a great Sonic experience through a different medium. ”

I reckon they’ll release all the episodes as a complete, packaged console game once they’ve all been released digitally.

  3. But, if we already downloaded all the episodes, how is Sega gonna NOT make us spend more for Sonic 4? Do we have to let Sega know that we have all the chapters, so we can get the Disc Version for Free?

LOL!!!!! Way to twist things. What he meant is that there will be OTHER GAMES in packaging consoles apart from these downloadable games. Not that they will see in packaging for later on…lol wow

  5. Free? Your business acumen’s a little off~ XD It’s a bit like saying that if we showed SEGA all of our old copies of Genesis games, then we should have gotten Sonic Mega Collection for free. Just… Ain’t gonna happen. It’ll probably be either or, same with things like Grand Theft Auto expansions; if you don’t have access to the online services (or like to wait), you’ll just end up buying the disc version. Having both is a little overkill.

As lovely as it is to see these little bits, I’m still slightly miffed that a few of the SEGA boys are a little fail at website security. (Still…)

Hmmm, dunno. Unless the packaged version comes with something a little extra I’m not quite sure. It just seems like a good strategy to release it packaged for the people that prefer packaged games. It could only be a limited run but it would be nice to have the option.

    @Renato

Don’t get me wrong, I know that’s what he implied in the interview but the way that he only mentions that Sonic Episode 1 will be released digitally (at this time) made me think the rest of the series would get a packaged release. I’m just speculating.

  7. @Biafra: Ah…I thought that was a new-er trailer…ah well, something to look forward to I guess. 😛

  8. That Sonic artwork is old that`s just his Rivals 2 art with a smile you can see in the DS version of Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games

  9. @KidReny!: If by “side” you mean “partner,” then I can tell you that there aren’t any other playable characters than Sonic.
