Sonic & Knuckles XBLA OUT NOW

Sonic_And_Knuckles_MD

Xbox Live’s very own Major Nelson has confirmed via his blog that Mega Drive classic Sonic & Knuckles will definitely be arriving on Xbox Live Arcade this Wednesday 9th September for the cheap price of 400 Microsoft Points just like Sonic 1, 2 and 3 despite the extra functionality of linking up with those 3 titles if you have them.

Bargain, how could you possibly say no?

If you point hunters haven’t seen the achievements for this game yet you can check them out here.

  1. I’d still love to know how Backbone Entertainment managed to get S&K XBLA to work with Sonics 1 to 3, yet it CAN’T patch SEGA Mega Drive Ultimate Collection with the same functionality.

    How odd.

  2. STULF is right. Mega Collection on the GC already has all these great games, so it isn’t reaally a big deal when they appear on XBOX Live or Virtual COnsole… However, Wii’s Virtual Console has arcade games now, if they release Sega Sonic the Hedgehog (the one with Mighty and Ray) on the Virtual Console, I will buy it without thinking twice.

SEGA released Space Harrier on Virtual Console already, so I think Segasonic the hedgehog is very likely.

  3. Sorry, sonictoast, but to quote Wikipedia’s article on that game:

The characters were controlled by one action button, allowing the player to perform a jumping spin attack, and a trackball is used to move around. The use of the trackball has subsequently led to great difficulty in both official and unofficial emulation efforts; in a recent interview, Yuji Naka stated that the reason it was not included on the recent Sonic Gems Collection was because of this.

Well there goes my hopes and dreams

  5. YES!!!!! 400 points for not one, not, two, not three… but 4! 4! 4 sweet old school Sonic games!

Now that is what I call a sweet deal!

    S3&K 4DaW!

  6. Actually Angel C. Its 1600 for 7 games (Including Lock-On), you need the other games bought to be able to do the Lock-on stuff, So to play as Knuckles in Sonic 2 you’d need to have bought Sonic 2 and Sonic and Knuckles on the Marketplace…

Personally I recommend Just getting Sonic Mega Collection, maybe you’d have to work for the extra games but if your a true Sonic Fan it wouldn’t bother you to play certain games over and over

  7. Cragles is right, You can get Sonic Mega Collection for like ten bucks anywhere, and you can even get it paired up with super monkey ball on some consoles. Plus it has so many good games like spinball, bean machine and Flicky.

  8. sonic 3 & knuckles is surely worth 800 points but i already played it so often through i doni know how often.
and that only on the mega collection…
man i wish i would have met sonic earlier

  9. @ Jix Hedgehog

Sorry to inform you it its Blue Sphere. During the original programming of Sonic & Knuckles, when they tried to have Knuckles as a playable character in Sonic 1 unfortunately they ran into alot of bugs and glitches and wound up not being able to make the game do-able. So the script code for Sonic 1 & Knuckles was altered to the point where if you lock-on Sonic & Knuckles with Sonic 1 then you wind up with Blue Sphere. So there is the next best option and that is to dl a fan made game, which can be found here: http://info.sonicretro.org/Knuckles_the_Echidna_in_Sonic_the_Hedgehog

  10. Well I got all the achievements…pretty easy. I’m a little disappointed though how you can’t use debug mode and all that…but hey, it’s what I expected.
