And Project Ringo is…

And Project Ringo is…

puyo-puyo-naka

A new Puyo Puyo game. Sonic Team have updated their teaser web pages and revealed the secret of the mathematical apple-chucking trailer – it’s an excuse to bust some colourful Puyo in yet another edition of the addictive puzzler.

Puyo Puyo 7 is destined to hit the Wii, Nintendo DS and PSP later in the year, according to Famitsu magazine, with the DS version hitting retail first at the end of July in Japan. Just like the last major console release, Puyo Pop Fever, it’s possible we may see a Western release later, at a budget price.

Many had been suspecting the Project RINGO teaser was related to Puyo Puyo as flash banners had appeared prominently on Sonic Team’s website for the franchise. The curious nature of the countdown trailer led some to believe a new IP from the studio was to be announced, but now that’s clearly not the case.

Puyo Puyo has had various releases in the West under other names. 1990s gamers may remember the format in the form of Kirby’s Avalanche on the SNES and Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine on the Sega Mega Drive. The franchise enjoys a fair amount of popularity in Japan.

  1. I KNEW IT! The drawing style of that character on the teaser screamed Puyo Pop! XDD
Well, i like the Puyo Puyo series. I hope they´ll release this on the US.

  2. OH DARN. i was hoping PROJECT RINGO was Sonic Team’s new direction of the Sonic franchise, a direction that focuses on the formula that was displayed in Sonic Unleashed’s daytime levels and other eccent Sonic games.

Actually, as a mad dream, i pondered possible releases like Sonic Unleashed 2 (daytime stages only), Sonic and the journey to the West (storybook sereis), Shadow the hedgehog 2 (it sounds like a bad idea but it could work if SEGA hired a different company other than Sonic Team to make it. its target audience would be the Sonic fans that played the MEGA DRIVE classics and are now 16-17yrs old) and Sonic Chronicles 2 (Handheld series)

But oh well, a boy can dream. Please do this SEGA i beg of u. XD

On a slightly unrelated topic, did anybody know that there are unlockable interviews with the 4KIDS Voice Actors on Sonic and the Black Knight? I haven’t seen them because they’re actually impossible to unlock. (u have to get 5 STAR ranking on every mission or something ridiculous like that) But wouldn’t that be amazing, its strange that they are so hard to unlock.

    Has anybody unlocked these interviews?

and is there any way of me watching them without me unlocking them?

  3. Probably better than a new Sonic game.. we avoid drama, speculation, big lists of fans do’s and don’t, anticipation followed by disappointed.. we we’re still all getting over the dismay the previous games caused.

What we all need is to sit back for a year , maybe more.. give Sega / Sonic Team a lot of time (because they’re always using the “not enough time” excuse) and enjoy some online Puyo Puyo (provided the Nintendo WFC actually works this time around)

  4. am I the only one who,

    OH YEAH ME TOO ;_______;

Mmm…i´m not liking this game too much. I don´t like new characters, they would have put the old ones.

  6. Why all the hate for Puyo Puyo…

You people better like what I like or else!!! >:C

…just kidding. But really, I don’t see why a Puyo Pop game is a bad thing. 🙁

  7. we dont hate it we just dont care because of the genre.
we all hate tetris probabbly but nothing personal

  9. All that anticipation for this?

I guess we’re not seeing anything new series, or another Billy. Probably for the best, just like Jix said.
