‘Eggman’s Number Panic’ Brings Brain Training to Japanese Phones

The latest game to hit the Japanese ‘Sonic Cafe’ service challenges commuters with a daily number-based brain-teaser. If you think that sounds pretty boring, then wait until you hear that it’s all to help Tails decipher the hidden code of a bomb set by Dr. Eggman!

The game starts off easy enough, with players having to guess a two-digit code from a small selection of numbers offered to them. Tails will not only offer hints to help you decide which numbers to use, but will also tell you if the numbers you use are correct or “misaligned” (which means the correct number, but in the wrong order). As you progress though, you will be tasked with figuring out eight and nine-digit codes – all with a fast-decreasing time limit.

A very casual game for the Sonic Cafe service, but one that uses Sonic characters in a clever way. And it might even make you a little smarter as you use it, too!
